Sir Viv Richards catch in 1983 WC final, Tendulkar's catch in 2003 WC final, Rohit's catch in 2023 WC final - 20 years pass on and each time a champion player tearing apart oppositions throughout the tournament gets caught out in the finals and breaks hearts of many fans. Organizing the finals in Ahmedabad I feel was a big mistake. Agreed it does bring huge profit to the board coz of its large capacity, but what I was seeing from live television was that the crowd barely cheered any singles and only expected boundaries or wickets, much like a T20 game. Once it was obvious India is losing, I understand the silence, but when boundaries dried up in the middle overs, I barely remember the crowd cheering for any singles. In almost all group stage matches, we had the crowd cheering each and every ball. Don't get me wrong here, I am not blaming the crowd for our loss, Aussies played better than us that day and deserved to win. But we gave what Pat Cummins wanted and they played excellent mind games with a billion people.

It was India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa who were expected to win. Coming back from 2 initial losses to squashing SA and India was just phenomenal! They had total control

Organizing the finals in Ahmedabad I feel was a big mistake. Agreed it does bring huge profit to the board coz of its large capacity, but what I was seeing from live television was that the crowd barely cheered any singles and only expected boundaries or wickets, much like a T20 game. Once it was obvious India is losing, I understand the silence, but when boundaries dried up in the middle overs, I barely remember the crowd cheering for any singles. In almost all group stage matches, we had the crowd cheering each and every ball.
Don't get me wrong here, I am not blaming the crowd for our loss, Aussies played better than us that day and deserved to win. But we gave what Pat Cummins wanted and they played excellent mind games with a billion people.
For Australia to play mind games they don't need any assistance from any crowd any pitch conditions any opposition .. Cope
