Watched this a couple of days ago (it's May 2019) and immediately put the tuning technique to the test on my new .25 cal Brocock Bantam Sniper Magnum which has been giving me consistency issues since I got it. My feeling was that it was pushing the 25.39s at 940-960 fps and that the pellets simply don't have a low enough BC to remain stable at that speed. So, I've backed everything down and have been able to get some very nice, consistent statistics ending up with a 150 bar reg setting and a hammer spring adjustment that eventually produced an extreme spread of 3 fps and a standard deviation of 1 !!! That's not a typo... I'm real excited to get to the range tomorrow and see how this tune works at 100 yards which is what I bought the gun specifically to do as a bench gun. Anyway TY for the detailed procedural, it was more than a little helpful and by far the most easily understood of the very few explanations on Harmonic Tuning that are out there. Cheers Joe P.
I'm not sure if you guys run the Facebook page aswell but I wanted to say a big thankyou for sharing my video on there and helping my channel grow. I don't normally use Facebook but I might start now! I appreciate it very much. Cheers!
Mate, I’ve been working through your videos over the last week or so in no particular order, and this is the pick of the bunch. Really well put together. I’ve seen other videos on this subject but none that show the process so clearly. Really, really cool.
Great job meathead! I think this is a first for youtube and fx. Rather than just do the average breakdown and concept of tuning, you filmed and edited(very nicely) the whole thing. This is sooo important and deserves all the praise i hope you receive for it. This helped tremendously as im a very visual learner, its one thing to hear how its done its another to see. I think so many people will agree when they see it. Thanks again and again cant wait for the next
Thanks mate! I'm in a similar boat with learning styles, I like to learn and teach through as many different means as possible but I'm mostly a visual/practice learner
Excellent video tutorial with indexes and awesome step by step description also appropriate warnings while doing a Harmonic Tuning on the FX Crown. I took you advise and search other sites and found the information to Harmonic Tune an FX Impact. Following the information and combining it with yours, I was able to get my .25 cal. FX IMPACT shooting 25.39 gr. JSB, 910.4 FPS, ES: 6.3 FPS and SD of 2.0. Thank you taking the time to make this video and to share. Aloha, Mike
Why I liked: - Essential information for those who want to tune - Straight to the point - Synthetic view - Honesty !!! You mention that you learnt from others and provide your sources of information. So many people publish stuff on the web and try to make people think that they invented the wheel.. - and the last but not least: you saved me a lot of time with this video and the links. I've been going through this whole process of tuning my Streamline 22 cal after the installation of a Huma reg. I started with a reg pressure of 120. Accuracy with speeds above 830 fps is a disaster. Group sizes from 1" to 2". What I understand now is that I'd better off setting the reg pressure at 130 bar and do all the hst tuning once again. I hope I'll be able to find a good match speed vs accuracy. Any thoughts / advices? Thanks for all the work you did and shared with us, newcomers to the airgun world :)
now worries mate thanks for watching! Which pellet are you tuning for? I havn't tuned a 22 yet but the factory specs are usually a good indicator of whats possible with a particular reg pressure. 130bar should be plenty. Generallllllly with pellets they are stable up to 930-940fps (depending on the pellet) so your issue with bad groups around 830fps might just be barrel harmonics, if it were going say 20fps faster OR slower the groups could drastically improve. food for thaught.
@@meatheadmarksman2013 22 cal. and JSB 18.13gr. I meant to say that, with the reg pressure set at 120 bar on the Huma, I'm only having groups smaller than 1" when the hst gives me ~830 fps. Above 830, groups are really bad. I used to have groups of 0.6" (avg) at 50m with the factory reg (130 bar) and ~865 fps.
Fantastic explanation!! I’m going to try this method out on my .25 impact. So much appreciated thanks. Very accurate way of matching hammer spring to reg pressure.
Great vid mate, subscribed a week or so ago and congrats on getting featured on the FX Facebook page today! Solid info and exactly what I was finding with my Crown. Bit too erratic with the HS maxed out but better dialed back a bit.
Fx crown mk2 .22 fac, originally shooting 18.13 jsb at 26 fpe this dropped to 23 so thought I'd tune it up, I was looking for around 880 fps with 18.13 just over 31 fpe, after a wasted afternoon doing exactly what you did I never got the hammer maxed, took off the hammer adjustment wheel and no matter how many turns clockwise or anticlockwise the little pin that moves in and out didn't move on a NEW rifle, so after 2 wasted afternoon's at the range it's still shooting 23 fpe, an email to fx I think and yes I made sure the 1.5 mm Allen key was in correctly, great video though I'll be trying again just as soon as the problem is fixed.
Thnx for the video. Just bought my Crown Continuum. When I set my reg to 150 Bar and the hammerspring wheel on 23 (new wheel), and the barrel is using the slugport (als new) and make a tune like you did the king heavy shoots at 920ft per sec and a sd of 1.6 and an extreme spread of 6. Like yuou said: Happy Days.
As an absolute beginner re air guns, very informative mate. I’m looking at taking up bench rest shooting and pest shooting when I can’t ride my Harley anymore. Lol.
What a great vid Meat 😉👍 I've got exactly same gun set up and have been wondering how to go about tooning it. I'm in UK though so gotta keep it under (sub) 12ft/lb. I shoot .22 HADES, 15.84 Grain weights because they're a superb consistent pellet and hardly get any flyers ever. 😉👍 NICE ONE 👍
I think of reg pressure like speed of gunpowder burn and hammer spring tension and valve stem adjuster setting as how many grains of airgun “powder”. VST might be though of as a not-to-exceed setting that could allow some very fine tuning when the wheel is set to max. It’s meaningless on less than max HST settings, because it sets a limit that will not be reached. Of course it’s not exactly that simple, but once we get close to tuned it kinda is. This will mean that with a longer barrel, you are going to be expecting to need lower reg pressure and a higher hst. A heavier pellet is going to need more grains in the same barrel (+hst) and this is conveniently the thing we can easily adjust with the hst wheel. Tuning reg pressure for your heaviest pellet in your barrel and then using wheel settings for various lighter pellets, say one setting for lead and one for lead-free. Does that sound right? It seems to work that way.
Yeah for people who don't want to re tune every time they shoot something different I always advise to tune for the heaviest projectile at max and there will be useable settings for the lighter stuff further down on the hammer spring wheel somewhere. As for the gunpowder analogy I think an air fuel mixture might be a better way of thinking about it. Reg pressure is the fuel and the hammer spring is the air, you mix the two in a correct ratio to get explosive power
@@meatheadmarksman2013 i already have a range finder. Now i just need the chrony. I will order one asap. I've found your videos very helpful. Thanks mate

So My Crown Mk2 with the amp regulator can be adjusted to increase or decrease reg pressure without degassing the gun, but the manual says increase only, to decrease degassing is required, confused 😕 er definitely, great video by the way I'm learning a lot.
I do enjoy a jaffa cake and a cup of tea every now and then. As far as biscuits go in Australia it's very hard to go past the top two biccys... Tim tams and Monte Carlos! Thanks for watching mate
Hi Meathead, Ive just purchased a new FX Crown MK2 and recently returned from a weekend shooting trip where we spent some time getting acquainted with each other. I was pretty impressed to say the the least. However, once I returned home from my trip I was giving it a clean and luckily noticed that the power wheel was very loose. So loose that another turn or two of the retaining screw and it would have fallen off!! Just wondering if this was a common problem with these guns? I am concerned that it will work its way loose again. Is there a way to overcome this problem? Should I take it back to my Gun shop? Cheers
Greetings Unclehodge. Great informative video easy to follow. I own a fx streamline and have not adjusted the regulator it's still at factory but I did have a go at the hammer spring tention for my own curiosity!! I got the loan of the fx chronograph and was experimenting winding in and out the tention and firing off some rounds as I went it gave me a better idea of what was going on!! Anyway I settled at a speed of 909fps for the 15.89gr jsbs I was using at the time I settled at this because the ES was the lowest iv seen only 7 most of the time I did achieve a 2 for a string of 5 shots and a 0 for 4shots but realistically it's around 7 to 10 fps !!! Would you say that the relationship between the regulator and the spring tention is a happy one!! The problem with the streamline is the reg .. no external adjustment and no way of knowing what pressure it's at so I just left it at an average of 909 fps.. now i shoot the 18gr jsb and there average is around 848fps accuracy is only on at moment because i cleaned the barrel few weeks back and have being firing surplus pellets to lead it back up agen! Look forward to reply .
.... so now that I'm trying to shoot slugs in my crown, I bought both .22 and .25 slug liners, What kind of velocity should I be shooting them at? If .22cal with a 500mm barrel, what kind of Reg Pressure might I start at? and I have heard that the 23 grain Nielsens are pretty good so that is what I am using... and then with the .25 Cal, where might I start the Reg at so I can get a good velocity? So much to play with because every time you change ammo, you change settings. I thought that the .22 cal would be less expensive but they're not. The .25 cal are cheaper but not backyard friendly... I'll keep watching and thanks for he help!!
I havnt tuned a 22 yet so I can't really comment with any authority, I would suggest following Rolf and Gerhard from the air hunters channel on youtube and Instagram because those dude are basically specialized 22 slug shooters/tuners. As for 25 is say start as high as your comfortable with, more reg pressure is generally better especially with a short barrel. I'd run it up to 150bar and take the hammer spring through is range of motion and see where the sweet spot is, I'd expect to see 870 to 900fps, then take it out and shoot some groups
Hi Uncle hodge. UK calling ! I have a Crown in 25 cal shooting 25.39 JSB. Velocity is 899 -902 ft per second. Accuracy is very good but my shot count is around 60 to 65 shots from. 250 bar fill. Reg pressure is 125 ish, power wheel is on max. Any ideas how I can increase shot count, reg pressure increase? Or hammer spring adjustment?. Love your channel you are so entertaining and very knowledgeable. Good stuff
That's weird... It's good speed and nicely fine tuned so you should be getting closer to 100 shots. My first stop would be to check your gauges just to make sure they are not faulty
@@Johnnywoo7 that is a good question, you can swap them around and see if they read different - if you put your bottle gauge on the reg and it reads higher then your previously specified 125 bar you'll know it's wrong. They are usually out a fair way, I've had to replace mine under warranty
Nice video sir. Can you make a detailed (closeup video) of adjusting the regulator to higher pressure? -the procedures etc.. ( My crown´s reg creeps between 125-135bar and I´d like it adjusted to 140bar. Currently after adjusting hammer JSB heavies flies at 825fps.)
If your reg is "creeping" you should have the reg rebuilt (spring washers and o-rings replaced). The procedure for LOWERING the original FX reg is as follows. First you MUST DEGAS the gun. That means you remove the bottle and then you shoot the gun several times to remove the residual air from the reg and the plenum. Once your gun is empty you can lower the reg pressure (I believe that is clockwise) by turning the adjustment screw in all the way. Once it's in all the way, give it one half turn back so that it is not bottomed out, you need to have some pressure flowing through the reg in order to adjust it. Screw the bottle back in and your regulator should show the new setting which will be very low. Now you will begin adjusting the reg pressure UP (counter clockwise) until you reach 100 bar. This is where you can begin your testing and HS adjustment. You can continue to adjust the regulator UP ( ONLY ) which is why I had you start at a very low pressure. Should you decide you need to lower the pressure you will have to once again degas the gun. My .25 cal Crown is set for 130 bar and shooting 25.39 JSBs at 860 fps a very stable and predictable velocity for this gun/pellet combination. Hope this helps.
@@JoePatABC Thanks for the instructions. Reg creep might also be related to faulty gauge, sometimes when tapping it gives different reading -fx´s wika made gauges are notoriously poor quality and inaccurate. (considering replacing them with huma´s)
Hello Meathead Marksman, excellent video, unfortunately I can not understand what you are talking about, just guide me through the images ...... I have an FX Crown .25 and it is set to 130 bar and I use it in PoderMax, I use JSB King 25.4 gr and it gives a speed of 896 fps on average, it is very stable and precise. Now, I bought a Cal .22 kit and I use JSB Exact 15.9 gr that you recommend me to do when I change caliber ?, I have to modify the Bar?.
Test and see how it shoots before changing anything, you might find that you get good results just by changing the transfer port to 17/22 setting and using a lower setting on the hammer spring wheel. If not, fx crown from the factory comes at 115 to 120 bar reg pressure and about 18.5mm of hammer spring gap
Hi Joseph here. Just a quick question. This harmonic tunning is for maximum setting only or it will work across all settings? Also the barrel is it for both barrels the 380mm and 700mm? Thanks 🙏🙏🙏
Ahhh.... another fellow Australian! Glad I found your videos! Thanks for taking the time to make them. If I had to guess, you would be a plumber? Cause you’re too smart to be an electrician! :) Love this airgun hobby of ours. Not as cheap as I first thought though... :| I’m still yet to find a cheap supply of JSB pellets in Australia so it seems.

Hi guys. Greetings from Sydney. Potter Firearms is the official distributer for JSB pellets in Australia, and they deal directly with the manufacturer. Unfortunately, ‘cheap’ and JSB pellets don’t exist in Australia, something to do with being on the opposite side of the planet, plus The cost of the inspection processes at the pellet factory. The only way to reduce cost is to find a good batch number and order them in bulk, and Potter will mail order on viewing a copy of your shooters license. Less people in between helps keep the costs down. I have found them to be really good to deal with. I hope this helps fellow FX oz airheads. Dave
Meathead how do you know what grain of pellet your .25 crown came tuned for??? I have the .30 cal crown synthetic stock and I am curious. I have just recently acquired all of the necessary tools to accomplish the tuning proceedures so now you may get alot of questions from me Thanks
All good mate happy to help were I can. I beliebe the 30 is tuned for the 44gr jsb from the factory around 850ish from memory. Its listed in some of the fx brochures
Hey Hodge, Im curious to know if u were ever able to clear 900fps after this tune for the mk2s. Ive kept my impact x factory the last 2 months to see how the control performs, also cuz i bought 10 tins of 25gr lol. Now im ready to jump up to the mk2s and figured id see if u found a happy place for them. On a side note, did u have to mess with ur magazine to make the mk2s fit properly?
Nah mate I haven't needed to change the tune cos almost all my shooting is done on power 3 to keep it quiet. Its definitely doable though, if I where you I'd start at 150bar reg pressure and tune your hammer spring wheel from there. 900fps will be somewhere around 150-155bar. Just check your manual to make sure your reg can go that high. No magazine mods where needed for the mkii heavys either, just whack em in and get cracking
@@meatheadmarksman2013 Thanks, sucks u guys cant use suppressors tho. The only thing more badass would be dual wielding hahha, its magical and sorta unnecessary all at the same time i suppose #america.. i bought a chrony a few weeks back and just hooked it up, come to find out one of the censors has a chip in the lens so wont be doing any tuning for a bit. But again thanks for the advice and the video ive watched it like 5 times already. Cheers buddy
mine didn't, it was a gen 2 not the latest one with the amp regulator. I actually found it faster and easier to just take the bottle off and dump the reg pressure then shoot lower, shoot lower etc etc - my impact has the amp reg and i still just dump the air and adjust it instead of lowering under pressure
Hi I have had my crown for a while now it's a. 25 also. This question may have already been answered but how to do you know what is the best reg pressure for the 33gr jsb? Before you start tuning the hammer spring
its all about balancing speed with how many shots per fill you want to get, so if you want max speed and dont mind having to refill your gun more often youll get the highest speeds (900-920fps maybe a little less) out of 145 to 150 bar, but you should be able to get good usabble and accurate speeds like 860 to 880ish from 135 to 145bar, and then even less pressure if you decide to tune for the 25 king instead of the 25KHMKII
@@seanbehan7761 faster the better in my guns, 930fps was 5 through the same hole at 50m in my impact, but lots of people have had great results around the 860 to 880fps mark
@@meatheadmarksman2013 Perfect it's all ahead of me so. Thanks for the information it's much appreciated. Great channel thanks again for your response.
I used 140bar because that was Ted's suggested starting point. But in 25 cal 10 bar more of reg pressure with the correct hammer spring tune will net you about 30fps more muzzle velocity. More muzzle velocity means your shot will be affected less by external factors during flight but you must keep pellets under their maximum stable flight speed, too fast and they wobble or tumble and wont be accurate. Watch matt dubbers airgun ballistics 101 to learn more. I'll do some research and make a video about caliber specific regulator pressure choices soon
Hi .What U say at 3:00 is this the same at my HUMA regulator ? Because I put that reg in to my Bobcat .22 and I screw up or down as they say and it do not change anything .It stay on 133 bar. What can I do ??
Yes I believe the huma regulators will function the same way. I havnt ever tuned a bobcat but I'd be very surprised if FX didnt have some method of adjusting the hammer spring tension. You probably have to take apart the rifle to get at it. Maybe send an email or message to ernest rowe, hes the dude with all the know how. Hope it goes well for ya mate!
amazing video ive used your ideas and done my crown .30 only fault i have with this is you change your graph first graph is gone up in increments of 10 fps but second graph you show the finished graph its goin up in increments of 100 fps i think if you try the second graph in increments of 10 your line wont be as perfect not picking faults at all your video is great i watch it few times and greatfull for help just saying as ive done this and my line is perfect in higher increments than lower
Thanks for watching mate! I see what your saying about the graphs, I did that because I wanted the lines to all fit in the graph, the line was so messy when I first started that I had to change the scale but I get where your coming from. I also had my chronograph numbers in there somewhere so it all seemed pretty buttoned down at the time. Hopefully I'll be tuning another impact sooner rather then later and ill make another video and keep that in mind.
@@theyorkshirelad. I think this is where the impact edges ahead of the crown. If the crown had the valve overtravel adjustment you could probably squeeze that extreme spread down a bit more but when you only have a hammer spring to tune you have to move on to thing like weighing and sorting your ammo and other super fine adjustment tricks that are a bit above my level lol. In reality if your rifle is sub 10fps extreme spread you really are in the top 1% of what's possible with an air gun, or any gun for that matter so you have done a very good job
if you were to shoot it out of the stock the point of impact and group size would definitely be different, but thats not really what we are concerned with when were tuning like this, we just wanna make sure we have a nice low extreme spread and that the shots are efficient so that each round doesn't use too much air. after youve done that then you have to check how it shoots in the stock and if your group size is too big or not very consistant then you would tune again but go for around 10fps faster or slower and see how it groups
Probably not the same reg pressure but the procedure will be the same. What pressure is it set on now and how fast is it shooting? 10bar more in reg pressure with the hammer spring set properly will get you about 30fps more muzzle velocity
@@fxking.25 before you change anything shoot a magazine through the chrony and record your starting numbers. Theres a good chance it's already got a great tune from the factory. You only need to tune it up if your shooting a different pellet then the one fx recommends for your gun
@@allenbowles1303 jsb exact 8.44gr but the smooth twist x barrel in your crown is less fussy then the old smooth twists so most pellets will work well or did you mean regulator pressure?
What's your measurement (mm) measured from the round end to the block, on the hammer spring, this would be more helpful than turns of the screw. Thanks for your video mate! This was great help! Thanks again from the other side of the world.
Thanks for the reply! Yea I expect to get out to the range and fine tune it more but thanks for the head start. Sounds like your country has the same rules here in Canada the silencer and airstripper are not used so it's nice for the info you provide being a little closer to this Crown version. Harmonically speaking. Your video has helped tremendously 😀 I would have wasted so much time and pellets. The hammer was set to the factory setting of 18 mm and I was getting terrible groups, I was going to guess at a setting of maybe 17 mm. Thanks mate!
Meathead Marksman just did some experimenting and I got the 33.9 gr. JSB shooting fairly good ~139 bar and 16.08 mm hammer spring, but still trying to get a better tune I'm at 700 meters elevation so settings are different than for someone at sea level.
Meathead Marksman all thanks to you! Cheers mate, beer time. I appreciate all your videos and the work you put in. Just a update got really good results with the same reg and hammer setting(mm) but on Setting 3 with the JSB 25.4 gr and quiet too.
Brilliant can you tell me one thing about fx manual it says the reg can be adjusted from 55-160 but then says dont go above 150 yet alot of guys guns are coming from factory at 160 , my point is do you think i can go to 160 with my crown
if any part of your manual says don't go above 150 bar that would be my advice to stick to. FX just released a bunch of guns with the new AMP regulator that can go much higher then the generation of regulators that are in yours and mine, id be very surprised to see rifles coming out of fx with the old regulators actually set to 160bar, its much more likely that its crept up over time. the previous generation can be a little creepy, mine creeps up to 155ish if i let it sit for a day or two but returns to my setting of 145 after the first shot. generally you can get good speed out of 150 bar even with the 30cal but if you want more power have a look at the huma regulators, they are the bees knees and can go up to 190bar i think and pretty much never creep
Meathead Marksman Basically grouping in all calipers .177 .22 and .25 I have been running the H&N pellets, field target trophy have been the best so far. The other styles are all over the shop. I have had a bit of a go at tuning you have given me some ideas with the hammer spring tension which at the moment I have maxed out. Anyway a lot more homework to do your tutorial has so far been the best I’ve seen.👍
@@gus1966 thanks mate! If your gunna run multiple calibers without re-tuning the gun each time you switch you wanna make sure your hammer spring tension is bang on for the biggest caliber and run it much lower on your smaller calibers, experiment with the transfer port too cos that's easy to switch back. Although other ammo can be good Fx designed the standard liners for jsb ammo and they are generally the easiest to use and seem to be more consistant in weights and shape
Wow!! A beautiful brain is hiding behind that pretty face. Well done. I'm brand new to air gunning and you've just opened up a whole different side of the sport to me. Thank you, and keep up the great work. Luv and kisses. Carfunkle
That may just be the limit for a really good extreme spread. I havnt seen an unmodified crown or impact hit 900fps in 30cal yet, it's very easy to do with a 700mm barrel but standard reg and 600mm seems to be max 890fps on the top performers
You’ll find that the FX crown loves 895 to 905 ft./s if you can find the sweet spot you should be good your accuracy will tighten Up and make sure you clean the barrel before you do all you’re turning because the barrels have polishing paste in the barrel that will rob you of accuracy
It took a fair few patches to get all that goo in the barrel out but I did that when I first got it. I haven't gone that high in mv yet because it's already doin so well at 870fps. When you say 895~905 do you mean with the 33gr mk2's? I'd imagine as long as you don't shoot them to fast and destabilize them you'll do well anywhere over 850ish
Which gap do you mean mate? On mine you cant access the screw without removing the stock and you cant remove the stock with the safety and the hammer spring wheel still installed.
Maybe it is not the same as on the Impact. I watched Stivs video on Impact and he did not unscrew hamer spring wheel, it is much simpler to max out tension on Impact then on Crown.
@@thangngaihte7519 I would lift reg pressure to 125-130 bar and tune the hammer spring, you should get 920 to 950ish out of that with the 25gr. If you go much faster then that it might not be accurate because of pellet stability
@@meatheadmarksman2013 thanks a lot Sir. One more thing sir...can you give me the ideal setting for shooting .177 jsb 8.44 grain...reg pressure /hammer spring tension settings ..etc.
@@thangngaihte7519 I've never done one in .177 but you should start at 100 to 105 bar and tune the hammer spring, if it's not fast enough bump it up 5 bar and tune
@@eldairfirmiano7181 oh okay, it depends what is more important to you. The impact has bigger magazine, can make more power and shoot bigger calibers, has picatinny rails and is smaller in size, but the crown is much cheaper and still very good. You're still shooting the gun with the shroud in the retracted (loud) position. I don't know if this has any effect on your accuracy but it definitely does on the noise level.
Did you read my reply to your last comment mate? They only care about fear mongering so they can say they have a strong stance on gun control and get votes from all the other people who are scared or ignorant about firearms and how nuanced the subject can be
Watched this a couple of days ago (it's May 2019) and immediately put the tuning technique to the test on my new .25 cal Brocock Bantam Sniper Magnum which has been giving me consistency issues since I got it. My feeling was that it was pushing the 25.39s at 940-960 fps and that the pellets simply don't have a low enough BC to remain stable at that speed. Aloha, Mike
Nice! Sounds like you found a sweet spot with such a low es, good mv too. Thanks for watching mate!
Great job. I hope you can get together with Matt Dubber, you guys are maaaaaad scientists.
I'm always down for fart jokes and South African food! We are separated by 12000km of ocean but.... so probably wont happen any time soon lol
Why I liked:
- Essential information for those who want to tune
- Straight to the point
- Synthetic view
- Honesty !!!
Thank goodness I found this video! This really helped me to tune my new MKII Crown! Great video!
Had to put this in my watch later playlist, a ton of good info in this one. Thanks for the information, great job!
Glad I found your channel. feel like i’m on this journey with you. interesting, educational and entertaining!
Liked that, a fresh new take. You must add cake to your shed, cake is always good. 😉 Giles

AirgunGearShow oh Giles, we love you. You’re so entertaining 🤣.
Good work Shan, I learnt a lot. I'll apply some of that to my Impact so that I can counter the onslaught of cane toads this summer. Your old man.
Fantastic explanation!!
I’m going to try this method out on my .25 impact. So much appreciated thanks. Very accurate way of matching hammer spring to reg pressure.
Thanks for watching mate! Hope it goes well for ya

It did thanks to you 👍🏼👍🏼
Great vid mate, subscribed a week or so ago and congrats on getting featured on the FX Facebook page today! Solid info and exactly what I was finding with my Crown. Bit too erratic with the HS maxed out but better dialed back a bit.
Oh cool! I don't use Facebook so this is wonderful news to me hahaha
Love all you videos my old china you certainly have a way with words keep up the good work
Fx crown mk2 .22 fac, originally shooting 18.13 jsb at 26 fpe this dropped to 23 so thought I'd tune it up, I was looking for around 880 fps with 18.13 just over 31 fpe, after a wasted afternoon doing exactly what you did I never got the hammer maxed, took off the hammer adjustment wheel and no matter how many turns clockwise or anticlockwise the little pin that moves in and out didn't move on a NEW rifle, so after 2 wasted afternoon's at the range it's still shooting 23 fpe, an email to fx I think and yes I made sure the 1.5 mm Allen key was in correctly, great video though I'll be trying again just as soon as the problem is fixed.
Great video! Thumbs up for you! Saludos de San Rafael, Mendoza, Argentina!
As an absolute beginner re air guns, very informative mate. I’m looking at taking up bench rest shooting and pest shooting when I can’t ride my Harley anymore. Lol.
You can do both! Hope it goes well for you mate, thanks for watching!
Excellent mate. You do such a great Job well done. FX are starting to notice your efforts
Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!
Amazing results. Now i just need a chrony!
Chrony and a rangefinder are the two thing that will improve your shooting experience more then anything else. Love my chrony!
@@meatheadmarksman2013 i already have a range finder. Now i just need the chrony. I will order one asap. I've found your videos very helpful. Thanks mate

Oh perfect, I have the impact and planning to get the Crown...thanks!
Nice work. I pick up my .22 FX Crown in a couple weeks. Stupid PTAs always holding me back.

So My Crown Mk2 with the amp regulator can be adjusted to increase or decrease reg pressure without degassing the gun, but the manual says increase only, to decrease degassing is required, confused 😕 er definitely, great video by the way I'm learning a lot.
Great stuff. Really informative and very entertaining. Giles mentioned cake, have you considered jaffa cakes, a biscuit cake hybrid.
You my friend are the best. Thank you.
Meathead Marksman Thanks for the reply. But how do I check if they are correct or faulty, sorry if that’s a daft question!
@@Johnnywoo7 that is a good question, you can swap them around and see if they read different - if you put your bottle gauge on the reg and it reads higher then your previously specified 125 bar you'll know it's wrong. They are usually out a fair way, I've had to replace mine under warranty
21:53 is it possible to have a tighter set of velocity. 866-875, thanks. very informative
Love this airgun hobby of ours. Not as cheap as I first thought though... :|
I’m still yet to find a cheap supply of JSB pellets in Australia so it seems.
I'm actually a bull haulage truck driver, i mostly deliver lime products with a pneumatic pressure tanker. at this very minute its 01:12am and I'm broken down at a mine site out in the Bush lol so... stay in school kids! I've been getting my ammo from Hermanns guns through shooters delight in qld
Dave
very educational! thanks for the info :) i just pressed like and subscribed to your channel :)
How do you know where to set your regulator pressure? Or is that dependent on how much power you want?
Hi man, Thanks for your video. I can’t adjust my MK1reg for use with pellets. What’s you recommend????
Hey Hodge,
Im curious to know if u were ever able to clear 900fps after this tune for the mk2s.
@@meatheadmarksman2013
Thanks, sucks u guys cant use suppressors tho.
@17:12 - Does the crown not have a AMP reg? So can be adjusted +/- without removing bottle etc?🤔
mine didn't, it was a gen 2 not the latest one with the amp regulator. I actually found it faster and easier to just take the bottle off and dump the reg pressure then shoot lower, shoot lower etc etc - my impact has the amp reg and i still just dump the air and adjust it instead of lowering under pressure
@@meatheadmarksman2013Ahhhh.. You are the Guru! Great vids, keep up the good work!👌

@@meatheadmarksman2013 ah I understand thanks that makes sence. Have you found that the 33gr mark II have a preferable speed?
@@seanbehan7761 faster the better in my guns, 930fps was 5 through the same hole at 50m in my impact, but lots of people have had great results around the 860 to 880fps mark
@@meatheadmarksman2013 Perfect it's all ahead of me so. Thanks for the information it's much appreciated. Great channel thanks again for your response.
@@seanbehan7761 no worries mate good luck with it all, if you run into any weirdness give me a yell
And how do we determine the best reg pressure? Because now you just picked a random pressure of 140 bar. Maybe 130 or 135 would be enough also?
Brilliant though i love watching you your interesting still playing with my crown cant seem to get any less than 5 deveation on fps
In reality if your rifle is sub 10fps extreme spread you really are in the top 1% of what's possible with an air gun, or any gun for that matter so you have done a very good job
so would you rather the crown or the impact?
ruclips.net/video/h6T4MoBNrro/видео.html
Impact for me now mate. Ended up selling the crown
Dear, I saw Harmony Twinning. Is it 22 or 25? If it is a superior liner, will the speed of 22 be 920 to 1000 fps
AWESOME VIDEO!!
What program did u use and where did u get the spreadsheet.
Microsoft Excel mate, made it myself
Meathead Marksman I have a .22 FX Crown, does this tuning apply for mine aswell?
The process is the same but you may have to experiment with different regulator pressures
hee man i was thinking would the stock not help or change the harmonics ?
after the tune ?
if you were to shoot it out of the stock the point of impact and group size would definitely be different, but thats not really what we are concerned with when were tuning like this, we just wanna make sure we have a nice low extreme spread and that the shots are efficient so that each round doesn't use too much air. after youve done that then you have to check how it shoots in the stock and if your group size is too big or not very consistant then you would tune again but go for around 10fps faster or slower and see how it groups
Great video mate I’ve got the .22 version and want to give it a little tune should I do the same reg pressure and the same procedure ,thx
Probably not the same reg pressure but the procedure will be the same. What pressure is it set on now and how fast is it shooting? 10bar more in reg pressure with the hammer spring set properly will get you about 30fps more muzzle velocity
I was told to put it to 140 bar and the hammer spring shouldn’t need touching so think will still trying your method over a crono

My gap measures 15.75mm but that doesn't mean your gap should be the same. It might get you close but it wont be perfect
@@Lorwildrose nice! I think I'm pretty close to sea level...
Meathead Marksman all thanks to you! Cheers mate, beer time. I appreciate all your videos and the work you put in. Just a update got really good results with the same reg and hammer setting(mm) but on Setting 3 with the JSB 25.4 gr and quiet too.
And puts the safety in upside down, yep I did that 😅
Brilliant can you tell me one thing about fx manual it says the reg can be adjusted from 55-160 but then says dont go above 150 yet alot of guys guns are coming from factory at 160 , my point is do you think i can go to 160 with my crown
if any part of your manual says don't go above 150 bar that would be my advice to stick to.
So my crown is already at setting 140 on the regulator and stable 875fps every shot at 44,75 grain .30 cal. No need to do this then?
Nah mate sounds like its bang on to me! Just take it out and shoot it now :D
@@meatheadmarksman2013 Thanks man, will do!!

Nice review. Are you in Oz?? I just bought and fx impact not happy with performance so need to tune 😑

Thank you, and keep up the great work.

thats good to know i must have put the imperial one in my metric set
good stuff
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Ye 150 strange ive ordered a ernest rowe hammer mod just waiting on that but cant figure why cant get higher
Why taking off all of the parts from hamer spring when you can increase tension to max by puting hex key into the gap and turning??
Which gap do you mean mate? On mine you cant access the screw without removing the stock and you cant remove the stock with the safety and the hammer spring wheel still installed.
Maybe it is not the same as on the Impact. I watched Stivs video on Impact and he did not unscrew hamer spring wheel, it is much simpler to max out tension on Impact then on Crown.
@@darthnihilus4553 yeah its a little different on the crown, the stock covers up that bit.
My muzzle velocity is set at 899 fps and reg pressure is 120 and shooting 25.39 grain...how much hammer spring tension should i apply..please
Do you want more or less speed?
@@meatheadmarksman2013 more speed of course
@@thangngaihte7519 I would lift reg pressure to 125-130 bar and tune the hammer spring, you should get 920 to 950ish out of that with the 25gr. If you go much faster then that it might not be accurate because of pellet stability
@@meatheadmarksman2013 thanks a lot Sir. One more thing sir...can you give me the ideal setting for shooting .177 jsb 8.44 grain...reg pressure /hammer spring tension settings ..etc.
@@thangngaihte7519 I've never done one in .177 but you should start at 100 to 105 bar and tune the hammer spring, if it's not fast enough bump it up 5 bar and tune
mantap

Olá, você tem algum video para me recomendar, ensinando como corrigir o vazamento lateral na Fx Crow ?
FFBBPRRRRRPP Subscribed !!
Awefffreereesome! Thanks for watching mate!
Great video shagga... I'm in vic and have same rifle do you have a Facebook account?
Yup search for "the meathead Marksman channel"
Fx crown x fx impacte. 22?
I'm not sure i understand the question, I will make a video about tuning the impact next weekend so hopefully that will help answer your question
What is the best fx impacte x fx crown ?
@@eldairfirmiano7181 oh okay, it depends what is more important to you. The impact has bigger magazine, can make more power and shoot bigger calibers, has picatinny rails and is smaller in size, but the crown is much cheaper and still very good. So if money is no problem go for the impact, but if you can only afford the crown you will still be very happy with it.
You still don’t know if the barrel is vibrating ! You have just optimized the airconsuption for the speed of that pellet you shoot 😉
This was mentioned in the video and the accuracy test was pretty good so I'm happy with the barrel harmonics. Thanks for watching mate!
ammo beer and new camera gear....hahahahahahahaha
Regulator quants bar
You're still shooting the gun with the shroud in the retracted (loud) position. I don't know if this has any effect on your accuracy but it definitely does on the noise level.
Did you read my reply to your last comment mate? I think I'm gunna hve to make a video to explain this because it's seems like a very very very hard concept for some people to grasp that it's not a supressor and it's illegal for me to have one and that's why its loud. It's very frustrating giving to explain this over and over again lol

What a lovely gun wowwww. Hey bro can you please give me one of your airrifle,i don't have enough money to buy the gun i want but i love airrifle .22 very very much so please
Swopped out my Transfer Port for the HUMA Reg, now my gun has absolutely no power, not even recording on the chrono
Did you swap the transfer port or the regulator? Or both?
Ah ye might look at them my crown is maxed out on 55gr pellets too 77ftlb and 44gr to 74ftlb cant seem to get anywhere near 82ftlb
Is that at 150bar?
I find it stupid you can’t use your silencer it’s a Airgun way does the law Keep you from having a quiet Airgun
I'm with you there mate, the people who make the laws in Australia have literally no idea what they are doing. They only care about fear mongering so they can say they have a strong stance on gun control and get votes from all the other people who are scared or ignorant about firearms and how nuanced the subject can be
Sorry guy.. but I understood f all about how you actually reached you tune
Just another video that cost people money .
