He probably worked the angle that he killed Brody to draw publicity. The puerto Rican hero that killed a bully American. Even though it was about money they owed brody and the fear brody would kick their arse if they didn't pay him sooner or later.

I lived in Puerto Rico in 2003 & 2004. At the time the uses of the internet was just starting to grow over there. Despite the internet not being as big as it is now, there was already sentiment growing against Carlos Colon, Invader & WWC. It also didn't help that when Invader left WWC for the IWA, about 2 weeks later Carlos Colon & the WWC introduced a Bruiser Brody Cup Tornament just to take a shot at Invader & IWA. Even the fans who sided against Brody considered that was in really bad taste.

A jury of stupid people were not going to convict Jose Gonzalez, not when you send witness summons to Mantel and Atlas weeks after the trial is over. Corrupt system. Nowadays, we see the same type of lawlessness in places like Chicago, Portland, Seattle, Baltimore, Oakland, New York, etc. People get away with crime. Who wants to live in such places? After Brody's murder Wrestling died in the Island. A real shame because when I was a little kid, I was able to watch matches with the very best wrestlers in the business. The days of living off the land have been long gone so no other choices but to pick a trade and make money. These men chose wrestling as their trade and they went to the contractor (promotion) that was putting money in the bank account. People who don't get that are either out of touch, very privileged, or both lol. They act like they participated in the murder for going back to wrestle 🤦‍♂️😆 some peoples kids smh🙄🤣

In P.R. was a Tv show called La Comay, channel 4. Invader and Carlos had a big issue that at the end, Invader left. They start saying why they had their problems and blah, blah, blah. All of a sudden, Carlos started to say you betrayed me after all the things I've done for you. You are free because of me, and he started talking about the case on live tv and saying that if it wasn't for me, you were in jail. Like always, there is no video about that day. Well, part of but not the important part.

Gonzalez never progressed past that point in the States. He had runs with other promotions as Sabu Singh the Prophet, one of them being Leroy McGuirk & Bill Watts' MidSouth promotion.
