That GIS addon only works with densely populated areas, my village has like hundreds of buildings but according to the addon there is only two! I could model only two by hand :(

Maybe just isolated areas? I’m interested in using this with my video jockey shows. What im asking is probably to basic for people on here.

this effect is very cool. I'm looking for a invisible sphear reveal effect if you know there are any tutorials on that, please let me know. Basically it's a sphere that looks glass like but you see through it, however, you can hide an object inside the glass without revealing the object.
That’s a cool trick. You can do that in compositing pretty easily. I wouldn’t do that all in camera, but if you play with the IOR of the glass a bit it could work...
That’s odd, it should. You have to confirm the email address. Check the junk folders (sometimes they go there first). There’s an email with a link in there that you click, then it should work. If not, let me know, thanks!
Mine came out good. Is there a way to add roofs? Also, my wireframe does not show color in EEVEE but it does in Cycles. But in Cycles I can't get the Bloom effect. So I stayed with EEVEE.
Awesome tutorial! Subscribed inmediately to your channel. Question: if you animate the camera a lot of the lines "vibrate" (very apparent in vertical lines of the taller buildings). Do you know how to get rid of that?
If the software still works you can go over Japan and if there is data, you should be able to grab it. Try Google Earth videos on this subject too. Markom3D has one.
Thanks for the amazing video! But I couldn't open Basemap in GIS of Blender. It says, ' Please define a valid cache folder path in addon's preferences.' I don't know what the problem is..please help me out!!!
Another small problem I had, is this Tron background seems to override some foreground objects I am animating (actually a graphic equaliser using Principled BSDF output). Any idea how to overcome this?
@@KevBinge ouch that's going to be a bit tricky. An animated character dancing in front of it doesn't have this problem, so I will check what I am doing differently there. I am a bit of a beginner, taking on a bit more than I can chew!

@@KevBinge Mac users warning : currently the addon does not work anymore on Mac because of an issue relative to Blender Mac build itself. Please do not report the issue here. It should be fixed by the Blender team soon. Check the bug report to follow the progress on it. (I'm learning, all GitHub if there is a Mac issue will state this if you scroll down). Looks like a possible future fix).
I can't believe no one is talking about how stupid it is we can't search for city names, how the hell are you supposed to find the major cities from a zoom in.

You can do that with channels. I think Ducky3D has a few videos doing that if I’m not mistaken.

Ah, you could select it and choose to export it in whatever format Blender puts out. You can bake the shader if you want too so it goes with it.

Thought one. I’d do them in separate renders and composite them together later so you can have way more control over opacity and luminance.

I think if you hit "G" while in the map, it'll allow you to type in the city name
