Hey everyone! commissioner here.
First of all i want too thank Brandon for making this awesome track. i love this MU and Brandon has outdone himself yet again.
Second i want too thank Redrunner613 for the mindboggling track art. considering what happens in RE:Zero and the gag in Touhou. i absolutely adore it

The Scarlet Devil Mansion going up in flames/exploding has become such a widespread Touhou troupe that it somehow made it into one of Brandon's album covers
What's funny is that it's a reference to both of them in that way, Beatrice's library / mansion going up in flames is one of her most impactful scenes.

Kirby, the Mr. Dreamland himself, Slayer of Eldritch Nightmares, and all that jazz. Kirby, who is commonly associated with sleep, loses his most popular(as far as I’m aware) matchup against a Touhou character.
It’s Doremy, the Youkai and Ruler of Dreams, with the ability to create and manipulate dreams, who can put people to sleep.
*Kirby, KIRBY of all creatures, has no resistance to either SLEEP or DREAM manipulation. Kirby can mind control others, it can warp morality, but Kirby has negative(its one sleep-relating ability is to put itself to sleep) resistance to ability to put it to regular sleep.*
Doremy can just incap Kirby by putting Kirby to sleep for the rest of eternity. Literally.
It’s the funniest thing. The Eldritch God-killing Pink Puffball can’t deal with sleep manipulators.

Another Re:Zero track ? And featuring one of my favorite Re:Zero characters too ? Well, it's quite a good premise *I suppose.*
Also, don't think I didn't notice that "Bad Apple" written on the book or the progressive track art with the library burning more as the song progresses (well, I say library but apparently it's also a trope on the Touhou side of things so that's even better). That's such a great idea, I absolutely love it and it gives even more personality to the track than it already has. Wonder what other matchup could have a track art dynamic that works similarly.
And speaking of which, honestly what more is there to say about Brandon and Re:Zero tracks than what's been said in the past really ? The guy manages to make a massively standout song that feels fitting and familiar with the other songs while also being absolutely insane in terms of quality without a single miss and all that while also featuring the other franchise really well. Makes most of what I say about the Re:Zero commissions redundant given they almost always the same general quality; that being "absolutely freaking amazing".
Still, it would be doing a disservice to such a good song not to at least comment on it a bit. And even here it's hard to know where to start or what to mention because of how good the song is. So I guess I'll start with a slightly general overview. And of course the first thing to notice while listening to the song is how well the mix of Re:Zero and Touhou is done here. I mean, honestly it doesn't quite feel like Re:Zero track nor a Touhou to the fullest extent *but* it feels like a mix of both very well. It isn't just both genres put in select segments that follow one another but it instead feels like a dedicated crossover-like track where neither franchise is fully showcased in the song but instead they make a separate type of music inspired by both franchises and I really like that as it makes the song feel extremely unique as it features the emotional intensity and electronic side of Re:Zero with the sheer speed, power and catchy melodic feel of Touhou (altho I say that but honestly both are interchangable given the themes of both characters feature all sides of the equation to a certain extent).
And that's something that goes for a lot of the song's traits: not only is the general atmosphere of the song a true mix of both franchises but even the melodies, instruments, etc... are too. Something that makes the song feel even more unique and standout than it already is.
But to me the true highlight of the song would be the various melodies heard throughout its duration. There's too many to note them all but the entire track has a ton of extremely memorable melodies that all flow from one another fluidly at a pace that results in every one of them being present just long enough to appreciate them without overstaying their welcome before switching to another or increasing in intensity to make the song as a whole get an up in scale that works well. Of course there's melodies that come back throughout the track but given they, as said earlier, have various shifts in intensity and come back at various points it results in them not feeling redundant or present for too long which I think fits really well.
And speaking of great melodies/segments, this of course brings me to talk about the final one in the song (I know, I'm rushing a bit through the song but as I said at the start much of what I could say for this one applies to all or almost all of Brandon's Re:Zero songs so it'd be redundant to say them) starting at 3:38-3:49. Now you might say "but this isn't the ending what are you saying have you gone insane ?" well maybe I have but not on this note. What I mean here is that the ending melody is first heard in that segment and I find that really cool because the way it's implemented and transitions in the track is really well done in my opinion.
It still has the melodic feel of the other segments of the song but here it feels much more brutal and intense, like the characters fully resolving themselves to end the battle. But before the battle can actually reach its ending the song breaks at 3:49, as if the characters aren't quite ready to throw themselves into this final bout. Now I have no idea if it fits the Touhou character but as far as Beatrice is concerned I think it fits wonderfully given acceptance of change is a major theme for her and this ending represents it perfectly.
And that's why I find the break before the song's climax to be even better as it reflects this acceptance: it starts almost melancholic and sad but then slowly shifts into something more hopeful and determined that slowly increases in intensity, representing the determination and resolution of those two before it finally follows suit into the track's ending at 4:35. And damn that ending is good. I mean, we get a "teaser" of it in the 3:38-3:49 but here with the buildup it receives it feels all the more powerful even if it's the exact same as in the aforementioned segment which makes it even better. Maybe it could have been slightly longer or have a keyshift midway through to feel even more powerful but honestly I think it's already extremely satisfactory as it is right now, especially followed by the calm ending that lets the scale of the song go down peacefully. It's a really good ending to an already great track that reflects (at least one of) the characters really well in my opinion so I couldn't ask for a better one for sure.
Overall this song is about as one would expect: absolutely great. It sounds unique, feels like an actual crossover song and is full of personality in the best of ways. Honestly the only "issue" with it is that Brandon's Re:Zero tracks are all so good that it's hard to differentiate them in terms of quality to choose which is better. Truly masterful composer issues, I know: so many great songs that I can't choose which is best. But either way, it doesn't change anything to the fact that this song's great. I mean, I barely know anything about Touhou and I'm so rusted on Re:Zero that I forgot what happens in half of the series and forgot that some characters from it outright existed so I couldn't go too much into detail about the character side of the song but even then I still think the song's amazing so I have no doubt someone more up to date on both franchises will like it even more than I already do. Still, amazing job with this as always for sure.
A lot of re zero matchups lately but who am I to complain? These sound great.
It's my favorite anime for sure, with Mushoku Tensei at 2nd place. Around the time I took this on I think I said I'd favor any Re:Zero matchups that were sent in lol

I can already see that the finisher would probably be Sun Sign "Royal Flare" (Because let's be real, that's the one most likely to blow up the Scarlet Devil Mansion, and we all know Beatrice ain't winning this.)

@@aronsmith3417 Keep in mind, my knowledge of Project Touhou isn't perfect, so correct me if I'm wrong, but...
The characters all fight evenly because of the Spell Card Rules. They basically agreed on a set level for everyone to fight evenly in order to solve any disputes. This basically means power scaling gets thrown out the window for all in-game battles, and you'd need to look at official lore to get their actual power feats.
I don't know exactly how strong Cirno is, but the average fairy is so weak that any normal human can handle them. Match that with her absolute stupidity, Hercule being a bit more than an average human, and him being the only person to fight both Buu and Cell and _not_ die, and it might not be so one-sided after all.

@@AuraSilverHero Cirno is an outlier among fairies, and one of the few that is actually considered a threat (albeit a low one). Her article in Perfect Memento in Strict Sense emphasizes that the is stronger than most fairies, and her countermeasures are about avoiding confrontation or using her stupidity to distract her, rather than trying to fight or catch her. While it tired her out, she also created a pretty big hill of ice in the Three Fairies of Light manga.
What's more of a problem for Hercule is that, as a fairy, she is immortal. He can't win unless he somehow destroys the concept of cold, which I don't see him doing, or if she becomes too powerful and looses her connection to nature, which would also be bad for him.
Sometimes knowledge has to be forbidden but this battle is catchy to be hearing

Don’t know much about Re: Zero, but lowball touhou is uni and MFTL. High ball I’ve seen some outer arguments, but high multi is generally where most lie and infinite speed. Also you need conceptual erasure to keep any yokai down for good in touhou. Patchouli is both a yokai and scales to some high tier characters (Remillia+Sakuya) but lacks the stamina to be one.
