Couldn't agree more. I feel the same way about Shadows and Togetherness I and II. Don't you love it when one of the few characters you get genuinely attached to has one of the worst endings imaginable?
Agreed, takes The Hunter, who while scary and off-putting isn't really LN levels of scary or off-putting if that makes sense, and adds some extra rush and fear to his chase.
I really hope I'm not the only one that prefers LN1 over LN2. Like, I adore the second game, don't get me wrong - it's an absolute gem. But I prefer the atmosphere of the first game more. The warmer colours make me feel at ease when I'm walking through the Maw, but that calm and safe feeling is torn down when either a monster appears, or _nothing_ appears and I realise how *_alone_* I am. That's what made me love LN, I think. That looming sense of loneliness. It's like those dreams I used to have where I'm wandering through a place I know, but no-one else is around. That concept has always scared me, though I'm not sure exactly why. That's why the first game is so replayable. A familiar setting, but you're on your own with no-one around to help, everything is against you is the kind of atmosphere I think fits games like LN really well.
Oh yeah, the surreal feel of liminal space- half familiar and homely, but at the same time, unsettling because something isnt as it should be. The original LN was really, really good, I honestly can't choose a favorite because the first one was so dark and dreamlike, but the second one had that sweet, sweet betrayal theme and a ton of angst came with it and I really liked that too honestly
I actually prefer LN2 just the slightest bit more than 1. They're both nearly equal in the quality of atmosphere provided and horror elements, but what I feel 2 does just a bit better than 1 is the warping of perception. The Maw was an entirely unique world to the one we live, giving it that eerie unrealistic horror aspect, as nothing inside has been experienced in an unaltered form in our reality. But what I adore about 2 is the way it twists and mangles things that we know and experience daily into an unseen machination of pure malignant terror. The forest, the schoolyard, the hospital, the cityscape. It's all things we are familiar with just thrown entirely out when the player realizes just how different it is. From the towering skyscrapers bending to the will of the tower, the twisted visages of the townspeople. The bloodthirsty malice of both the teacher and the bullies. the creaking silence of a looming threat in the darkness of a broken down hospital. It's just such a brilliantly crafted cold and bleak atmosphere that stays with you the entire game like a chill you just can't shake off.
@@aeiou_ena Oh my God, all of these comments are so well written, and so true. I personally enjoy the first, but I can 100% see where each side is coming from. Amazing comments, great writing to all 🖤
A few things I love about this music. In March of the Guests, is the percussion dishes or chains? Both. In little nightmares 2, both signal interference and disposable entertainment feel huge but on signal interference makes you feel huge and powerful while disposable entertainment makes the world feel huge and scary. Fine line they walk and they walk it beautifully.
When I hear certain music, especially orchestral, I tend to visualize very vivid scenes in my head. when I listen to Disposable Entertainment, a very particular scene comes to mind: rather than Mono and Six floating alone, on a door, they’re in a boat with dozens of other children, bound and looking at the looming city with uncertainty. As the music swells, the Thin Man comes into view, looking on the new arrivals with an unreadable expression. They are the song’s title exactly: Disposable entertainment. They are there to bring some emotion to his grim life as the Broadcaster and nothing more, and he has no issues with killing them once their purpose has been served.
Togetherness II is my favorite ost piece in both games. It just feels....safe. That feeling is so incredibly rare in these games, and it comes from being reunited with Six. The feeling of companionship can make anyone fearless.
honestly. i think that track is a part of the reason why that scene where mono rescues six from the bullies stuck out in my mind so much. it felt like it really nailed the feeling of rescuing someone important to you. so perfectly bittersweet, and calm.
I've always favored the LN1 soundtrack over the second game's ost, but I think that Togetherness ll is definitely one of the most calming, safest tracks in the whole series.
My favs and why: Lure of the Maw There’s nothing like the theme of the mall. The music is so calm and nursery rhyme like, but still gives the feeling of eerie and unsettling. It also gives the vibe of “you’re safe, till you aren’t” March of the Guests I don’t know, but listening to the guests mumble whatever they’re saying is so hypnotic. Maybe I’m a guest or viewer lol. The ending also being the sound of basically the whole guest chapter is amazing. The way they incorporated the stomping of the guests as the beat was genius. The Lady Circles During this whole music session, I was waiting for the sound of the lady appearing and the mirror making her..shoot away? Not sure how to explain it. It gives me the feeling of “someone is here, where are they?” In the most sinister tone possible. The Lady’s Music Box Now this is a masterpiece. Because music boxes are supposed to be relaxing, but knowing it’s the tone that The lady likes to hum makes it eerie. I can’t stop using the word eerie, it describes the world of little nightmares so well. The way you have to be so quiet as you pass behind the lady in the residence is just chefs kiss as well. The Ending (DLC) This always make me get goosebumps, similarly to the ending of little nightmares 2. For this one though, it’s like a scene in a show where they cut the episode right before the bad news is released. It’s not telling you what’s gonna happen to the runaway kid, it’s showing you. It’s showing you that this is where the runaway kids story ends, at the mouth of six. Boots through the Undergrowth This is one of my favourite chase songs. It gives you the feeling of “run run” (here comes Veronica. Sorry, I had to make that reference.) It doesn’t have any other message besides run. That’s what makes it so perfect, it’s straight to the point. End of the Hall This is so sad and perfect. Not sure how to describe it, but it’s wonderful. I would listen to this till my younger self opened the door lmao
My absolute favorite is the main theme of Little Nightmares 2. While "Lure of the Maw" combined eeriness with calmness, this theme combines it with sobriety.
Legit just got to ‘Room with a View (DLC Ending)’ and felt my heart wrench in my chest. I watched Jacksepticeye playing it the first time and when it happened I nearly cried. I had theorized that it was true, but hadn’t had any concrete proof until then. Good god, I wish it wasn’t true. He didn’t have to die.
I KNOW!! Runaway Kid is my favorite character, in so many ways. He's so wholesome, so nice to the lost Nomes on the Maw. All he wanted was a chance at freedom, like Six. They both deserved to be free, if you ask me
its kind of reassuring that there are still people commenting. i just discovered the game after it died, but it makes me feel good that there is at least some people that are into it now.
Honestly, Little Nightmares is my absolute FAVORITE series! I love the story and concept. People don’t make enough apocalyptic stories like it, and that’s what makes it so unique! :)
The lady theme has what sounds like a ticking clock (same as the tall man when Mono sits on the chair) It's a shame lost in transmission (signal tower) theme isn't here, best in the game. Also disposable entertainment
one thing i noticed is that in Little Nightmares II, I can no longer remember exactly when it played but I do know that I heard a motif- I think it was also present in the "End of the hallway" track- it sounded like the beginning of O Fortuna but the last pitch is a bit lower... it feels very much like fate theme music
My favorite is *The Death Waitz* and *Togetherness l* and *Lady music box* and *VLN Main Theme* and *Unused Hunter theme* and *Lost in transmision* and *Togetherness ll*
Me alegra de que hayas incluido también la música de Very Little Nightmares. Mucha gente pasa ese juego por alto a pesar de que no lo crearon las mimas personas es igual de bueno y creo que todo el mundo debería darle una oportunidad.

I LOVE how the lady humming theme kind of sounds like the hat man chase theme from little nightmares 2
Yeah
I ended up figuring out that the song she was humming was the singing part of _Lure Of The Maw,_ but that's still really neat!
Actually. It sounds like Six's theme but its missing parts so The Lady only humming the same part instead of singing the whole Six's theme.
Yeah, the Maw's and Thin Man's motifs are almost identical.
