Can’t go wrong with either. Mostly a feel thing. Explorer is much more solid feeling especially for down picking or really digging in. V’s are really well rounded and a little easier to navigate when standing or in the classical position. Cheers -Ryan
@@Crypticmaskguitar thanks Ryan. I tend to be sitting down when I play, but my posture isn't the best, maybe as a result of that. perhaph adding a V that would force me to stand might be the right choice. heck i think i need both (over a longer term). I Love your channel BTW
Hard to place it, really. Without a boost it's quite bland and can't quite get the job done. With a boost it has this massive low end and can melt faces! It's definitely within the Top 10 that I own. Cheers -Ryan
That's basically my life from April until November... I don't have time to do ANYTHING... so I pick up guitars after work hahaha! The worst is that I'm picking up another Les Paul today after work... and it's WHITE!!! You can only wash your hands so much before they bleed haha! Cheers -Ryan
I just bought this guitar from L&M. Used (returned and rented twice). Looks pristine and saved $500 vs buying a new one. Question - is your body one piece? When I look super close mine looks like Gibson constructed it out of 3 pieces glued together. Wondering if this is luck of the draw, and if it's worth trying to find one with a body that came from a single slab of wood. Thanks!
Not very likely… most are 2/3 pieces of wood. I got mine last summer new on sale for $400 off from Long and McQuade. They’ve really gone downhill since COVID. I find much more luck with service, availability, and selection with different stores nowadays. Cheers -Ryan
@@Crypticmaskguitar Thanks for the response... hmm, I guess I didn't get a great deal at all considering mine's used and has a tiny ding on the tip of the headstock. Might just keep it anyways versus the headache of returning. I don't buy guitars often and the last time was my les paul standard that I bought at Long and Mcquade in 1998, lol. A couple months ago I broke the headstock, and glued it back... it's good now, but felt so crappy when it happened, and I mainly bought the explorer so I'd have a backup guitar, that is somewhat different but still have the full sound and feel similar to the Les Paul's with same shorter scale length. My only other electric guitar is an 1992 ESP MII custom, which is a great super strat, but there's just something about my les paul that I love. This explorer is cool but not sure yet if it speaks to me in the same way. L&M says I have 30 days to return at least. :)
Could you please do a video on your thoughts after owning the guitar for a little while now? Things you have changed or would like to change as well as the things you do not like about it?
At some point I will do a full video on this Explorer… but I bought 14 Guitars this summer and 6 Amp Heads. I’m behind on a lot of videos. Love this Explorer! No need to change anything on it (other than the knobs and add pointers). Bustbucker 2/3 sound great! Well Rounded! This will be the first Explorer that I don’t put EMGs in! Cheers -Ryan
@@Crypticmaskguitar That’s so awesome and refreshing to hear!!! I just bought one and am super hyped to get it later next week. Where do you recommend getting the knobs and pointer?
Musiclilly is what I usually get. Looks and feels exactly like the Gibson Knobs and pointers. Make sure they are the Gibson Size and NOT the Epiphone Size. Epiphone Pot Shafts are smaller than the Gibson CTS Pot Shafts. Cheers -Ryan
Should really show it off inside the case. Gibsons just look amazing sitting in there.
great tones out of that thing. sweet Explorer!
oh this is Gooooood. great sound. i'm deciding between explorer and a flying V for metal.

Seriously considering oranges rv 3 .
Of all the metal amps you own, where would you rank it in your collection?
Top 10, top 5, top 3, ect.

Orange Amplification, OG Explorer and, dirty work hands. IT DOES’NT GET MORE METAL! 🤘🏼
Happy wife happy life bro! 🤣

Great guitar, I have the same model from 2019. Great sound, very versatile. What cab do you use for your demos ? Emulations ? Thank you ! ✌️🤘😎
Signal Chain is in the description. I’m not a fan of emulations, personally. Cab and a good mic any day of the week for me! Cheers -Ryan
@@Crypticmaskguitar I understand, I am on the Helix for 3 years, and even if it's a really good unit, I'm going to buy a new amp.
Cheers to a fellow Canuck, bummer about the amp man. I feel ya though, been waiting for 8 months so far for the 70s Explorer.

Nah you still got a good deal. Twice a year the Gibsons go on sale (now is supposed to be one of them). Cheers -Ryan
