Game lore vs anime lore. In the anime most pokemon are mostly sapient. Unlike the games i think. I personally like the anime more, because its more interesting. Of coirse it creates a bunch of questions but thats the best part since you get to think how the pokemon world gets meat. The game also has normal pokemon be incredibly poweful or brutal at times. Which I also really like, however its just not the same as the anime.
As a shorthand, I’ve been collectively calling the Ultra Beasts and Paradox Pokémon “Outsiders.” They’re all from some form of alternate dimension/reality from outside our normal one, and it’s a convenient shorthand that makes sense and fits!
Mega evolution has always been caused by the ultimate weapon. Rayquaza got its mega evolution from eating meteorites that the ultimate weapon hit, and Zygarde got it during Lysandre's use of the ultimate weapon in XY. Mega stones seem to appear randomly whenever the weapon is fired.
Ya I think they only really stabilized the whole trio master thing by gen 3 and Lugia just happened to be there along the birds from Kanto. He did have the duality thing going on b/w Ho oh. But their relationship is strictly historical. Theyre almost ignorant eachother even aside from at one point the same people reverencing them. If I remember correctly, the Brass tower, now burned tower was actually Lugia's. Tin tower was Ho oh's and the old man says they were both where 2 powerful flying pokemon roosted. Which would make since as to why seldom many bring up Lugia, but herald Hooh as despite its tower being the one intact, it was the act of ressurecting the three dogs in Lugia's now burned tower that made it the central focus. Ergo the first instance of a mythos beginning the category of a traditional "Legendary" qualifier: The pokemon has: demonstrated supernatural power even in terms of the Pokemon world strong ties to its respective region continued role in judging/gaurding/over seeing said region, etc. The Kanto birds only qualified the power aspect, with a case for Articuno as it did guide destressed people out of snow storms, and Mewtwo was too new. Mew was more mythical than legendary and borderline unknown to anyone else aside from Oak, Fuji and a faction of Team Rocket. But he was the closest to being that which most legendaries are to their respective regions, to Kanto. Even though he's more available in other regions by legitimate gameplay.
0:34 gen 9 is literally the only generation where all 3 legendary birds have been viable lol. Zapdos and Moltres are both ou and Articuno won a huge vgc tournament.
I just wanted to tell you that apparently Giratina used to be super violent, but after being defeated by the player in Legends: Arceus, it had a change of heart and then started protecting both the Pokémon world and its own.
Also of note: Dialga and Palkia's origin form seems to resemble Arceus. (centaur-like?) But Giratina's origin form is *less* Arceus-like. (becomes less horse and more noodle). So, perhaps there's something about being in the Distortion World that pulled it closer in line with the will of it's creator? Hence, the shift in attitude and form.
@HalfBreadChaosGiratina is clearly a little different from the other two, the two represent mater (space-time) while Giratina alone represents anti-matter, that's why it's more powerful than them, but it's hard to tell for sure yet...
Also might be the fact that enteis are flareons strong enough to reach the top of volcanos, making them transform into Entei, hence why there is so little of them.
Like @Wile.E.C said, there's a difference between understanding human speech and Pokémon understanding our commands. For example, you can teach your dog to sit down when you say "sit", but your dog won't understand you if you start talking to it about your favorite TV show. Understanding human speech on an intentional level implies a higher form of intelligence. Of course, there are some Pokémon (like Ash's Pikachu) that become so close with their trainer that they CAN to some extent, understand their humans on a deeper level.
Idk but after Kalos, they slowly threw the idea of LEGENDARY pokemon outta the window, an evolution line? (Cosmog Cosmoem, the Light Trio is fine) , Regional forms of LEGENDARIES, then some randomnads kung fu panda man
Arceus: "Aren't they beautiful".. Raquayza: "Yeah as long as their raise right they're going be great, luckily they got you". Arceus: Takes a deep breath "Yeah I'm getting a pack smokes peace".
Necrozma should gather a bunch of lanturn. They generate “according to dex” an impossible amount of light. More than should be possible in the creation of universe
36:34 I would like to say that I believe Victini to be based on a much darker subject, nuclear weapons Based on V-Create being a literal scorched earth method of attack, infinite energy, as well as it's lore of being an instant win condition Pokemon. It's also a mythical for the American region, so.
Something I never see stated about Dialga and Palkia is that the PLA dex entries describe Dialga as a revered deity, and Palkia as a feared deity, making one seem more benevolent, and the other more wrathful. Whereas Dialga's origin forme is described as its true form, Palkia's origin forme is described as an attempt to rival the power of the Creator. That said, in terms of temperament, Palkia seems to be in between Dialga and Giratina: Dialga being the only good child, Palkia being more ambitious, and Giratina's ambition getting the better of him.
1:35 I’d argue Zapdos is only seen as the “fan-favorite” because it was the only only who wasn’t absolutely dicked over by stealth rocks before heavy duty boots made hazards less threatening in Singles.
Idk if you can really make that argument for the birds, they existed for nearly a decade before stealth rocks was even a thing. Obviously this is anecdotal, but even as a kid pre gen 4, Zapdos was already the favorite among the kids that I knew.
the aura trio (Gen 6) are all based off norse mythology, with yveltal being Hræsvelgr, the giant eagle atop the tree, and zygarde (50% as shown in this gen) as Níðhöggr, the serpent at the roots of Yggdrasil. however this has only reference to form, and not to abilities or relations (Níðhöggr and Hræsvelgr are supposed to be rivals in the mythos, and Níðhöggr being more counterforce to Yggdrasil's life giving)
One interesting theory to add to Calyrex, When Calyrex Dynamaxes, it emits a blue light the same as the Reins of Unity, it may seem like a small change but has some big implications. Calyrex became King when it blessed people with bountiful harvests, it did so because humans found Calyrex near death and took him in, nursing him back to health. It's never exactly said why Calyrex was near death but we can assume pretty easily. Calyrex was said to have saved a Pokemon from a meteor, and it's incredibly likely that that meteor was Eternatus, to back up the idea that the Meteor was Eternatus, we have the Max Lair in the Crown Tundra, Peonia herself states that there must be a massive Wishing Star in the lair that provides all the energy in the Max Lair, this said Wishing Star is the Meteor that Eternatus resided in. When Eternatus awoke and started attacking everything, Calyrex fought against it but failed, perhaps the clash likely gives some reason for the opposing Dynamax colours. After failing to take down Eternatus, Calyrex was found by the humans, who took him in. After Eternatus was taken down by Zacian and Zamazenta, Calyrex became king.
Just a note on the Jörmundgandr pronounciation, it is closer to "Yor-mun-gand-er" but in the scandinavian countries, at least here in Denmark, we often just call it is Midgard Serpent, similarly to how we call Fenrir, the Fenris Wolf (for any WH40K fans yes, the planet if the space wolves is named after his title not his name).
Damn the Zeraora slander lmao. But yeah its deal as a mythical seems to be that it’s not just fast, it’s literally THE fastest pokemon (even tho the stats don’t reflect that). Supposedly top speed recorded as mach 938.
Jirachi was quite my favorite though, she is a pretty Lady Giratina who created Earth and the Weather Trio who was known to be the Jewel Pokemon, Nekrozma, the Eternal (Eternatus) Goddess of Light. My most favorite Mythical is Darkrai because he looks like a fully consumed Dark Celebi (Mega Darkrai looks like AZ, the Kirby final boss from Metroid, having crippling depression. -Zelda).
@ShubhashishGupta He did include mythicals in with the legendaries for this video, so that was why I pointed it out. Honestly the distinction between the two is always confusing to me haha
Depending on which version of the first movie you watch changes Mewtwo. He was originally a Pokemon created by a geneticist who wished to revive his dead daughter. Mewtwo actually meets and befriends her. Before she pleads with Mewtwo to stop her father. Don't remember why. As mewtwo was to be birthed Mewtwo was forced to depart from his realm of genetic unbirth. Knowing that he was just an experiment very much took a toll on him.
Regieleki and Regidrago"s descriptions sound like something I would have made up as a kid. "Well MY Pokemon is faster than ALL the other Pokemon" "Well MINE has all the powers of all the dragon types!"
For the 3 birds : in french 2 of them have nordic god connotations in their names : Artikodin (Odin) Electhor (Thor obviously) Sulfura, being a mix between Sulfur and Ra (Egyptian god)
54:00 For a split second I thought you mispronounced Gullah Gullah Island, which brought back some childhood memories I'd long since forgotten about. Gullah Gullah Island was a kids show back in the 90's when I was growing up. I don't even remember what it was about, but I vaguely remember the theme song. Hearing "Ula Ula Island" just unlocked my memory of that old show though. I can't remember if it was a show on Disney, Nickelodeon, or maybe even PBS? I literally haven't had a single thought about that show in probably around 30 years.. and I just turned 35 a bit over a week ago..
Lugia has a special place in my heart, when i was 11, the first pokemon game i played was silver, i was just exploring around and had no clue about legendaries and stuff when i encountered a level 70 lugia by going deep in its cave. i was so amazed and got me into pokemon. cant believe that was 20 years ago, feels like yesterday
Feel like my boy missed the Raikou movie with Atilla and Hun and the Miracle Crystal - it was the only one I actually saw of the 3 dog films so was confused when it was missed
1:06:51 No, thank you for making such a wonderful video for me to listen to while I work. Having something good to listen to makes climbing telephone poles and crawling underneath peoples house much more pleasant.
Thank you for making this without ZA spoilers!! My first game was shield and I’ve seen a lot of these but know like nothing about them. It’s great to get some background knowledge
When I was younger, I watched a show about the swords of justice and Kyo and I instantly fell in love with Kaleo and thought he was my favorite legendary and now I’m being told he’s a mythical I’m so confused cause he was like literally one of the strongest ones in the bunch and I’m 14 now though so
This was a nice watch, good to reminisce on the legendaries, and even learned a few things. Loved learning about George M. Gander and my favorite cutest lil punk mythical Marshadow.
Sticking with the Norse theme Yveltal might have some inspiration and connection to the Níðhöggr. A dragon that gnaws on the roots of the world tree, preventing it from growing more and representing chaos and decay.
18:32 the clearest inspiration is well... Jet aircraft. the dex entry that states that they're able to outspeed jets when they fold their wings is in reference to real world wing sweeping jets
27:55 imagine an interaction between Azelf and Peter Parker. I feel like if Peter Parker was in the pokemon world and met Azelf, it would take a serious liking to him after sensing his Willpower
Latias: Is intelligent enough to understand human speech.
Pikachu: ?????
Meowth: “Am I a joke to you?”
Just Pokémon in general. Since they can all obey their trainers orders.
they can all obey their trainers orders lol
@deleteduser-e9e well with the right gym badge
Game lore vs anime lore. In the anime most pokemon are mostly sapient. Unlike the games i think. I personally like the anime more, because its more interesting. Of coirse it creates a bunch of questions but thats the best part since you get to think how the pokemon world gets meat.

Groudon: Im the hot one!
Kyogre: I make it rain!
Raquayza: I'm their therapist..
Victini = Hot headed
Manaphy = Calm minded
Jirachi: FOR THE LAST TIME, JIRACHI IS NOT EMERGENCY FOOD!!!
Ray "if you got a pulse we got a problem" Quaza
@Bill.Papadakis
Clawitzer: “Uh oh.”
Blastoise: “Shhhhhhit.”
@XxMeTa_Zr0xX im so hungry is that a jirachi come HERE
Yes I can agree Groudon is hot
3:40 In Japan, the Legendary Birds names are just the English words “Freezer”, “Thunder”, & “Fire” lmao
How original lmao
Lord Freeza
@someoneirrelevant6815 remember Articuno's fight against Infernape on Namek?
@someoneirrelevant6815 hello mUnkeys
As a shorthand, I’ve been collectively calling the Ultra Beasts and Paradox Pokémon “Outsiders.” They’re all from some form of alternate dimension/reality from outside our normal one, and it’s a convenient shorthand that makes sense and fits!
I like that!
It's already called that canonically...
I call them slop
@goml-gb4kb
And why's that?
@ghastlyanarchy1720 just Pokemon creating slop for people to keep buying games. Recycling old ideas with small changes, its getting super old
Ray "hands on sight" Quaza
Never back down never what?
@ghastlyanarchy1720 NEVER GIVE UP
@ghastlyanarchy1720 how tf is this related
Ray “Run my fade” Quaza
My fav baby
Honestly the lake trio seems pretty obviously based on the greek ideas of logos (logic), ethos (will and ideology) and pathos (emotion)
Hey, I learned the first 2 for my ethics exam
@Ender.Mappingey fellow philosopher
"The Single Dragon" sounds like a reality TV show about finding big ol' Kyurem a date
47:09 Ah yes, Joe MurganDeer. My favorite character from norse mythology!
😂
pronunciation unironically made me cringe
ok, I wasnt the only one Lmfao
Jor mungan deer
Right up there with Nid Hoger, Rat of Oscar, and Odd Inn
Mega evolution has always been caused by the ultimate weapon. Rayquaza got its mega evolution from eating meteorites that the ultimate weapon hit, and Zygarde got it during Lysandre's use of the ultimate weapon in XY. Mega stones seem to appear randomly whenever the weapon is fired.
L was alluding to Mega Evolution being from Hoenn. It might’ve been AZ
Are you sure I thought mega ray predated the ultimate weapon?
@nkgamergod5256 I cant find anything about Mega Ray being older than 3000 years. From memory, it was around the same time
True. But, at least in magearna's case, it is possible to artificially create a mega stone so.....
When i was a child i was confused with Articuno's german name Arktos. Because the evil snowman from the TV series Tabaluga has the same name.
What a coincidence lol
Finally someone said this, Lugia was NEVER canonically associated with the legendary birds in the games
The teraleak showed connection between the legendary mythos... It shows that Lugia made the legendary birds actually
Deleted canon is non canon.
Ergo the first instance of a mythos beginning the category of a traditional "Legendary" qualifier:
The pokemon has:
demonstrated supernatural power even in terms of the Pokemon world
strong ties to its respective region
continued role in judging/gaurding/over seeing said region, etc.
Lugia deserves friends ❤
@cyberlead8527 Canon as far as anyone with taste is concerned
the legendary beasts (dogs, cats, whatever you see them as) is my absolute favorite piece of Pokemon lore. It's sad, dark, and insanely mysterious
38:05 Verizon Wireless 🔥
If this came out like 3 weeks after you would had a Lot to talk more about some legendaries😂😂😂
46:05 you could say the normal form (50%) is Z-Shaped if you look at it from the side
0:34 gen 9 is literally the only generation where all 3 legendary birds have been viable lol. Zapdos and Moltres are both ou and Articuno won a huge vgc tournament.
it's not but cool lie
@tb1298its literally true if ur counting vgc and singles
- Why did you never give UP?
- Because he never did.
- Who?
- My boy zygarde who start as a dog and end UP as a giant robot with a laser cannon
correction he started as a little snail thingy
I just wanted to tell you that apparently Giratina used to be super violent, but after being defeated by the player in Legends: Arceus, it had a change of heart and then started protecting both the Pokémon world and its own.
Bro got humbled and changed his whole life philosophy
@pickle7499if you as a very angry god gets defeated by a kid, something must be wrong with your life lmao

43:00 yes , Black/ White Kyurem are my favorite fused legendary pokemon
I love the theory that raikou, suicune, and entei were the eeveelutions jolteon, vaporeon, and flareon resurrected and given legendary status
I keep saying I want a pokemon legends jhoto and it take place around the time that event happens.
Also might be the fact that enteis are flareons strong enough to reach the top of volcanos, making them transform into Entei, hence why there is so little of them.
@AvaaSlays_Swiftie yes!! It would be so epic
@AvaaSlays_Swiftie
Too bad they kinda already wrecked the "Legends" name with Z-A, I don't recall any legends from the future.
@ghastlyanarchy1720 ?
"While Arceus is out for a pack of cigs"😂
Poor Marshadow getting forgotten
NOOOOO I really thought I got all of them 😭
my favorite Pokemon :(
18:16 Can't all pokemon understand human speech? Haha
Lol. I was thinking the same thing.
But maybe other pokemon understand commands like trained dogs, but latios understands everything? Idk
Like @Wile.E.C said, there's a difference between understanding human speech and Pokémon understanding our commands. For example, you can teach your dog to sit down when you say "sit", but your dog won't understand you if you start talking to it about your favorite TV show. @Wile.E.Cexactly
After finishing ZA, zygarde is my favorite. He’s the bestest boi and I love him
39:27 thunderous is always fighting thunderous????
We all have our personal demons
I was wondering why no one was talking about this
37:36 he knows what he said lol
*Virizon*
Notable lack of Marshadow mentioned in the video
One of my favorite mons
I agree he is my fave I wanted to see him 😢😢
Mythical
@TheBigDeamon other mythical pokes were named… this is outrageous.
@TheBigDeamon
Mythical is just legendary.
Bro used a grass type against articuno. That venusaur is cooked
Wild how like 10% of the dex is legendaries nowadays.
34:23 oooh boy I bet you’ve heard the news
What news?
@dayoungsta94mega darkrai and just more lore on him in general
3:40 WHAAAAAAAAAAT😱😱😱 HOW HAVE I NEVER REALIZED OR HEARD THIS
Idk but after Kalos, they slowly threw the idea of LEGENDARY pokemon outta the window, an evolution line? (Cosmog Cosmoem, the Light Trio is fine) , Regional forms of LEGENDARIES, then some randomnads kung fu panda man
Arceus: "Aren't they beautiful"..
Raquayza: "Yeah as long as their raise right they're going be great, luckily they got you".
Arceus: Takes a deep breath "Yeah I'm getting a pack smokes peace".
Necrozma should gather a bunch of lanturn. They generate “according to dex” an impossible amount of light. More than should be possible in the creation of universe
That's like giving him an IV but for light lmaoo
The voice in the 2nd movie never made me think Lugia was male. Since childhood she’s always been a woman to me
36:34 I would like to say that I believe Victini to be based on a much darker subject, nuclear weapons
Based on V-Create being a literal scorched earth method of attack, infinite energy, as well as it's lore of being an instant win condition Pokemon.
It's also a mythical for the American region, so.
Bro MIGHT be onto something dark
boy it's not that deep
@costantinorobila2726 girl this whole video analyzes the potential inspirations for pokemon...
@costantinorobila2726it's black and white, it has to be that deep
@costantinorobila2726 It’s pokemon, dude. It probably is that deep.
Something I never see stated about Dialga and Palkia is that the PLA dex entries describe Dialga as a revered deity, and Palkia as a feared deity, making one seem more benevolent, and the other more wrathful. 18:57 The real legendary being Sceptile when it suplexed Golbat.

@Isopiem No need to be rude.

The fact hoopa can summon the creature who control space palkia 😂😂 is just bad writing 😂😂😂
Celebi: Shit's getting real, imma head out.
For the 3 birds : in french 2 of them have nordic god connotations in their names : Artikodin (Odin) Electhor (Thor obviously) Sulfura, being a mix between Sulfur and Ra (Egyptian god)

1:00:24 is he saying thundurus is a cat??
Yes?
Raikou had a Special Episode in the anime called The Legend of Thunder.
34:20 not anymore
Eldritch God vs Ten Year Old
Rayquaza, the strict babysitter left to look after Earth while Arceus went out for cigs lol
2:26 equally very cool Pokemon
Galarian form is *Emoltres*
46:00 xerneas and yveltal are also based on specific figures from Norse mythology.
such a good video bro i’ve never been more interested thanks for giving an hour of truly enjoyable content.
8:32 Godzilla the pupatar is hilarious
23:10 yknow, I think rayquaza might be inspired by the Jade Emperor too
2:13 and that's why Zapdos showcases its legs every single time?
37:34 that tripped me up for a second
I NEED a video about the ultra beasts
Determination...?
29:35 Izanagi, not Izagami
Sinnoh was my first game. Low-key love gen 4
Galarian Zapdos is based on a ostrich not a roadrunner btw
Verizon?
Virizion?
Are you sure you’re not an AI bot?
Lugia has a special place in my heart, when i was 11, the first pokemon game i played was silver, i was just exploring around and had no clue about legendaries and stuff when i encountered a level 70 lugia by going deep in its cave. i was so amazed and got me into pokemon. cant believe that was 20 years ago, feels like yesterday
Rayquaza: The Godzilla of the Pokemon Universe.
Feel like my boy missed the Raikou movie with Atilla and Hun and the Miracle Crystal - it was the only one I actually saw of the 3 dog films so was confused when it was missed
an ultra beast video would be so fire! i’d love to see it
1:06:51 No, thank you for making such a wonderful video for me to listen to while I work. Having something good to listen to makes climbing telephone poles and crawling underneath peoples house much more pleasant.
The 100% Zygarde form totally gives off Megazord vibes, mainly because of the zig-zag pattern across the chest.
Mewtwo and Mew cute cats
I swear to Arceus, if next episode won't be with my Pokémon I will still watch it and love it ❤
ah the regis concept is the ages of time. Stone age, ice age, and iron age. with drago and elec being being the middle age and the current age
Rayquaza and Giratina were my favorite legendary Pokemon.
“Verizon” 37:41
Thank you for making this without ZA spoilers!! My first game was shield and I’ve seen a lot of these but know like nothing about them. It’s great to get some background knowledge
When I was younger, I watched a show about the swords of justice and Kyo and I instantly fell in love with Kaleo and thought he was my favorite legendary and now I’m being told he’s a mythical I’m so confused cause he was like literally one of the strongest ones in the bunch and I’m 14 now though so
Thanks for this upload! I been recently getting back into pokemon
Johto was my first region. I started on heart gold. Entei was always so sick to me!
As of writing this, there are only 71 legendaries and 23 Mythicals (including Phione).
i was literally abt to say this
This was a nice watch, good to reminisce on the legendaries, and even learned a few things.
Legends game that shows the regi imprisonment would be dope
