There are a few things that would make Pinn OS way better. There should be an option to upload custom IMG OS files. It would also be cool to have some of the OS to come pre loaded with the Google play store. My fingers are crossed.

The method at 1:20 now gives the updated bootloader. No need to do the extra steps. Unless a newer version is in beta that you want to try.

I got PINN working quickly from this, so thank you for posting it. I was hoping PINN was like Berryboot, but it seems far more limiting.
I'm running from a 1TB NVME drive and want to be able to multiboot arbitrary OSes, rather than only the ones offered in the PINN installation (which don't all work, Ubuntu panics during initial boot).
Sadly, the once fantastic Berryboot has been abandoned for years. I'm still hoping someone picks it up and updates it for the Pi 5.

Seen they have Android 14 running on the RPi5, I'd love to see this with Play Store & Google Assistant both working. With the Option to keep Google Assistant always on in the background so if you say *_Hey Google_* it responds w/o the need to press a button And be able to play RUclips videos with Chrome with ad-blocker installed.

If you try Android make sure you use the konstakang version not the one in rpi imager. The one in imager will crash to reboot when you try to connect to wifi. And probably other things but I never got that far.

I have Android 14 running on my Pi5 with no issues. I had to install gapps and register the device with google. Now it's like a fully functioning tablet: Have Kodi, RUclips, VLC etc running with no issues. Only thing missing is the H264 encode/decode that I read they dropped hardware support for on the RPi5 stating "CPU should be powerful enough for SW Decode". While this might be the case, one application I have still tries to use the non existing h264 so the output for video is just black with the audio in the background.
@leepspvideo , Would there be a way to force H264 SW decode on the RPi5?

So there's you with your nice bit of (mostly) open Raspberry Pi 5 hardware with the capability of running a nice open source Linux OS that loves you and your privacy - or you could run an AOSP-based version of Android that is also open source (until Google get their grubby paws on it) but instead you rush straight in with running your Google apps and hand the whole thing over to Google so they can turn it into a surveillance device that watches everything you do.
Yet another "head in my hands" moment - why don't so many of you care about your own data privacy?

That's another great video. Thank you! ☺ One issue I would like you to cover in a future video is Audio Out on a Raspberry 5 (not to the monitor but to a speaker system). It can be done via a USB dongle or via the second HDMI port or via GPIO, I guess. You would be the perfect RUclipsr to cover this! 👍

do I understand correctly, that you could have Debian, Ubuntu and whatever else you might fancy running?
    what are the drawbacks?
    are there any?
does it affect bootup time or is it just an option you could press shift on startup?
is there any reason not to use it?

Hi leep a thought has just occured to me. I downloaded the img file directly from sourceforge with the link on git hub, and I also downloaded the zip lit file directly from git hub! I bet both of those are still for the RP4. Yes I just stuck the card in a RP4 and it works, I did not try the method on their web site where you push the buttons TODAY, I did that many times yesterday, but of course it would not work because of the Bootloader update which I knew nothing of then until I camr across your video today. I will try it now.
