Yea, breaking the sound barrier is something special in this game. It's the only racing game I know that has it.
XGRA breaks it too.
@@aande1 I think if wipEout had a mechanic like this, it would have seriously amped the feeling of Rapier and upper race leages. When you make people aware of the sense and presence of speed, its incredibly exhilarating.
First game I played on PS2 in 2001. Somehow remember it differently, but thats what time does. Sound barrier just as cool as ever

I never get tired watching this video, I remember when I first broke the barrier and lost my shit!
I used to use the infinite shields/boost cheat just so I could break the barrier over and over again. It never gets old.
