I absolutely love this song, it's been 53 years or so and i love it as much as i did in 1969/1970. Great music with meaning. I'm much older now and do a lot of reflecting on my life.
Enjoy, our following generations just will never know what we had. Taking another angle listen to Merle Haggard Okie from Muskogee it wasn’t all roses.
Timeless nostalgic music, gorgeous Dean Ford with stunning voice. Beautiful times and great memories. Peace forever Dean. Thanks for this great song you've left us.❤
Tenho 65 a vida não é ruim nós é que estamos cansados.Mas a boa música está aí para nos lembrar o quanto já fomos felizes e ainda podemos continuar a ser. 🎶 🎵 🎶 🎵
Wonderful song. This was the era of GREAT music. So many different bands and different genres of music. Most of the stuff they produced still sounds as good today. Just playing a few songs from that era transports me back to happier times. The only advantage of living now is we have access to RUclips and other platforms which enable us to select our own personal favourites!
I don't care who disagrees.....this song is powerful. I was 13 when this song hit the airwaves. Beginning when I was a little kid, music always had a huge emotional impact on me. I have a brother who's 3 years older, who had a radio and listened to the local Top 40 station in '67 and '68 AND I spent LOTS of my summer days at the public pool back then, I was genuinely being compelled to process the power of mid to late 60s music. I'm part of the group of folks older than I am who maintain there'll never be another 60s when it comes to music.
My parents thought our music, long hair, and clothes were the end of the world. If that was our only problem now, I would be happy 😊. Those were good times. And we didn’t even realize just how good it was.
72 5 days ago and I remember this when it first came out and it was a very iconic record with a melancholic story beautiful lyrics and a sad but happy thread running through it. absolutely love this..rip Dean Ford
Yup. 50th high school reunion in a couple of weeks. The country has changed so much for the worse! Watergate was NOTHING compared to the shit going on now!!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
A thrift store I often shop at in the Denver area plays tracks of old songs from the 70s when I was a teen. Whenever they play this song it always stops me in my tracks. Today more than ever because I am planning to sell my house after experiencing a personal tragedy and move back to Hawaii, my "old home" where I lived in my 20s. I was literally crying in the aisle with my basket full of aloha shirts! lol. I looked up the song this evening on RUclips to listen to it again and same thing, tears flowing down my cheeks. The words, the music, the voices are so deep and profound, so beautiful to listen to. These musicians are clearly gifted souls able to touch our hearts in the deepest places. I scrolled down and read every comment. The comments also touched my heart and I truly appreciate the people who shared them here. I feel that perhaps I should listen to this song every day and that might just change my life. God bless.
Thoughts of my crippled, elderly, widowed mom brought me here. She will turn 88 yrs old in a few weeks. Seems like she is tired. Not tired from the day, but from life. I love you tons mom and don’t want you to die😢.
I love 50s 60s and 70s music, the best times for music with the 70s for me was just top of the pops,I sing a lot at home with hubby but wish there was more entertainment around these years in places around uk where we all could meet up safely
French boy in Montreal Canada deeply touch by the emotion of that sound without understanding the lyrics I search of this song for year. Rediscover it about 15 years ago and then I understood the lyrics and understood why it touch me that much as a 10years old French boy. Dean Ford could sing and make you feel raw emotions regardless of your comprehension of his language. August 4th. 2024 I lost my wife to glioblastoma brain cancer, after 43 years of marriage, now this song became an obsession it really represente how I feel. It help me to cry and try to make sense of my life. Now my lovely wife Josée and Dean are at the same place in the memory of our creator and I have no doubt that he will wake them up (John 5:28,29). Sublime. If this were the only thing Dean Ford, Junior Campbell and the band did, it would be enough for a lifetime. But they did so much more! A true gift to the people of the era and to posterity.

Probably one of the greatest songs of all time written by Dean Ford (Thomas McAleese) from Springboig in Glasgow. and Junior Campbell from Airdrie. RIP Thomas.
I just turned 75, Marine Nam Vet and I think I’m lucky to have lived through the music of the 50s to 2000. I had this song on my playlist, I thought anyway, so I had to think of the groups name and thankfully, it did.

In an obscure little East-European country, with a communist regime at that time, in a little recreation village at a holiday site there was a "wurlitzer". A record changer machine filled with 45 rpm vinyls, dropped a coin of the local current (called Forints) to get one of the records played. THIS was the only one to enjoy, nobody knew how it's got percheased, but we sat around some friends and my love at the time, and we dropped the coin time after time to listen again and again... We didn't understand much, our English was less than basic, but loved this music.
