    Hi, a couple of questions, the starting point is to fit photo to real size which you did using first pattern. Then, there is no need to fit the rest of patterns before tracing them? or the assumption is that once one of set is fit, that means that the others pieces are automatically at the right size? Please let me know as this point really saves you time. second question, doesnt clo3d allow you to create a pdf file, why is it needed to import the created png to illustrator in order to create a pdf file? thanks for your answers!

    • @EncoderFashion
      @EncoderFashion  3 года назад

      Hi Katherine, answer to your 1st question: yes, you are correct if you are taking all the pattern in one photo you only need to scale once. On the other hand, if you are taking your pattern photo one piece at the time, you have to scale each piece of your pattern. Answer to your 2nd question: for now, no you can not export the pdf (8.5 x 11 inch) format from clo. Please, let me know if you have more question. Love it.

    • @katherineespinoza6870

      @@EncoderFashion Thanks a lot for your swift answer! I am planning to get a A3 paper size printer to print my created clo3d patterns. Based on your answer, it's not possible to use the standard letter size (8.5 x11 inches) but slightly smaller (10% smaller). Does it mean if I want my pdf to be A3, when defining my A3 artboards size in illustrator, shall I also use 10% smaller of the standard size to ensure it can be exported and printed ? the same question for A4 format. Finally, is there any way to print directly from clo3d once the pattern is completed? Or is it always necessary to the export to illustrator to create a PDF and finally print? Just wonder. Please let me know, Many thanks again!

    • @EncoderFashion
      @EncoderFashion  3 года назад

      1) I'm sorry to confuse you. Yes, you can use 8.5 x 11 inches paper size according to the tutorial.
      2) I think you can print direct from clo if you have a big printer that can print all the patterns in 1-big sheet, but not with a home printer like we have. Let me know if you have more questions. As always love it.

    Hi, I have new questions as I am gong deeper into this conversion from paper pattern to digital. As per video, we need to scale the pattern using the edit texture tool and playing with the diagonal (not to distort the actual pattern shape), however this process is quite tricky and time consuming cause the control over right size using mouse is very limited. Many times reference is off as bigger or smaller than pattern so I wonder if there is an easier way (using keyboard) to adjust the texture so the scale fits perfectly without too many back and forth trying to fit it with the mouse? Secondly, even if I manage to get the reference box matched, there is no guarantee that the rest of the lines of the pattern will fit perfectly. I did the trial matching reference line/box and measuring each of the sides of the patterns and then realised that the length of some of the pattern lines were off by a few mms. So I wonder if it has to do with the way how picture is taken, if there is an angle, then the measurements somehow wont be accurate when digitalised? so in this context, do i have to make sure than when taking pics the pattern remains fully flat versus the camera?
    Finally, if pictures are directly scanned (there is some useful scanner apps on the phone that scan patterns and assuming that this version has already the actual and accurate measurements), do I have still to do the scaling exercise or can I just open the scanned version in clo3d directly to trace or modify it?
    Please let me know, many thanks in advance!

    • @EncoderFashion
      @EncoderFashion  3 года назад

      First of all yes it is a pain in the bottom to get it accurate, I wish we have a better way to do it. You are right, we have to be care for from taking the photos to tracing it in clo. Be sure to scale it accurately and print it out as a test run as well as alter it in clo if you have to. And about the scanner app that is a very good idea, and again also print it out and test by either measure the pattern or I would recommend making some sample of the garment. I have the video on how to make the “digital sewing templates from us-letter, a3, and a4” which allows you to print your pattern from your home printer. I hope this help. Please, Katherine let me know if you more questions. Love to hear it.

      @@EncoderFashion Thanks for answer Rose! Will continue testing, hopefully I can get more accurately. This is definetely a functionality that clo3d should work on to improve,

      Hello Rochelle, that is a very good question. Hi Rose, i have another question, when using print layout, how can i get the background fully white? Before I was managing to get it without clicking on grid. Today, even if I dont click on it, I dont get the grid but I get a grey background. Is there any way to get rid of the grey and get a 100% white background? Just wonder for the sake of saving ink when printing. Please let me know thanks!

    • @EncoderFashion
      @EncoderFashion  3 года назад

      I know what you meant. The screen appear like gray color, however, it should be ok to print and it won't suck up ink, because when we Save Image as .png it does not have any background or when we export it as AI/PDF it did not have any background. Important Note though: be sure that the fabric is default and has no color (as I mention in the tutorial ruclips.net/video/TumcN_QEoYY/видео.html) "applied the fabric to all pattern pieces." I hope it helps some clarification because it can be confusing. Thanks, again let me know any questions. Love it.

    • @katherineespinoza6870
      @katherineespinoza6870 3 года назад

      Thanks Rose for quick answer! Did notice too that fabric plays a role indeed if selecting to show texture. But also saw that the snapshot has control over transparent background which really made the background fully white.

    My pattern imported but I am only seeing a white box in the 2D side. How do I get the pattern to blow up and display in the 2D window for cutting?

    • @EncoderFashion
      @EncoderFashion  3 года назад +1

      Hi Matthew, that is a great question. First, to answer to your question: to make the pattern bigger, you would use the "Edit Scaling Tool (in 2D/3D window). However, you would need to create the a pattern box according to the actual size of the pattern see this link: ruclips.net/video/xw-pBtJu-mI/видео.html. Would you tell me more about what types of pattern you want to import? Fore example, shirt, pants, or dress etc. because, you would need to create 2 boxes, 1 box is for the pattern size and another is for the scaling. Thanks, for the question, love it!

      @@EncoderFashion The template is for a shirt design and I am using the templates from the printer that assembles the garment. Hi Matthew, based on your pattern: I want to point out why you only see the "blank white box" in the 2D window and not the pattern. Because when you bring the pattern into clo, you want to go to the "2D display menu" and select either "Back Texture Surface/Translucent Surface" or you can't see your pattern. The good news is I'm going to make a tutorial about it. I wonder if it is ok, to use your pattern for the demonstration in the tutorial because it is quite interesting. Thanks.
