Buffett was a Renaissance Man. Bestselling singer-songwriter, bestselling author, sailor, airplane pilot, super successful entrepreneur and chief Parrot Head.
Yes, Yes, Yesss! So much treasure to mine. And don't just fall back on Margaritaville. Changes in Latitudes, Come Monday, Pirate Looks at 40, One Particular Harbor, He went to Paris, Breathe In Breathe Out. Too many to list here, worth the journey. Before you know it you're a Parrot Head. 🦜🌴
Alan Jackson has so many great songs. Fun ones, serious ones. He can do it all. And this one here just makes me smile every time I hear it. Great collab with Jimmy. And now let me go grab a drink...because it's five o'clock somewhere.
RIP.. JIMMY. He is the true story teller. You will either be a total lover or you let it slide by you when you listen to his music. I myself became a "Parrot Head" in the late 70's.
The first time I heard this song, I heard Alan Jackson singing but immediately thought that it sounded just like a Jimmy Buffett song. Then Jimmy showed up at the end! My all-time favorite concert was a Jimmy Buffett concert! RIP Jimmy
These two are solid gold on their own. Put them together and it goes up by 💯. Both are fun, talented and have the gift of not taking themselves too seriously while being serious about their music. We sure miss Jimmy.
When I was driving Uber in Sacramento I picked up a husband and wife and we had about an hour drive. In conversation he told me he was a yacht salesman in Florida. He continues to tell me that he introduced Allen to Jimmy when Jimmy was yacht shopping and wanted one similar to Allen's yacht. That was how this song came to be made.
For a long time Buffet lived on his sailboat. Some of the time he docked it in Key West at the Sunbeam mooring so that he could play live at his bar that he owed on Duvall st. Just him , his guitar,a pitcher of beer, and a bar stool. Great memories!!!
Always love me some Alan Jackson. Hes only one of a handful that i actually turned to country for. My friends took me see him on my birthday to couple yrs in a row
Jimmy Buffett wrote this song, along with many other great chill on the beach party songs like Margaritaville, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Son of a Son of a Sailor etc!
My best friend was a deep sea fishing, scuba diving, die-hard Buffet fan. He died scuba diving. Every time I hear Buffet's island sound I think of my friend. An interesting departure in style is his hit, "Please Come To Boston".
Jimmy Buffet is an absolute legend, wrote outlaw country then took a trip to Key West with Jerry Jeff Walker, fell in love with the island life and wrote ton of legendary music
I was fortunate enough to see Jimmy Buffett and Alan Jackson in concert at different times. They both did great shows and Alan Jackson is still on tour but not as often. If he comes near you, I would say go see him.
I’m a diehard parrothead. I went to Vegas for my 50th birthday and that weekend we saw Garth Brooks on Friday and spent Saturday seeing Jimmy. That was a bucket list item and I scratched that sucker off. Been there, done that!
Jimmy Buffet is a legend! Listen to Margaritaville, Son of a son of a Sailor, Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude, Banana Republic, Come Monday, Fruitcakes live, Bubbles Up, A Pirate Looks at Forty, Mexico, Volcano, Pencil thin Mustache, Delaney Talks to Statues, etc!
Jimmy Buffett is an OG. Jimmy is another awesome Mississippian who made it big! When it comes to talent, Mississippi has/had more than its fair share for such a small population.
Please some Jimmy Buffet. So underrated. Great entertainer. Already seen some popular songs by him in other comments but don't sleep on one's like Son of a Sailor, Come Monday.....so many! Love AJ, great reaction. ❤
Jimmy's band were the Coral Reefers (pun intended) and he described his music style as Gulf and Western. Musician, entrepreneur, pilot and pirate, his life would be an epic movie.
Margaritaville is one of Jimmy Buffett's most popular songs, but it's also the name of Jimmy's bar in Key West, which is what they are referencing in the song.
Jimmy Buffett is in a class of his own. He is "different". He is a LEGEND! He is an OG! Flip flops, shorts, fishing, beaches, islands, think about enjoying the ocean.
Alan Jackson did a great cover of this Jimmy Buffett song. Jimmy Buffett is definitely a legend. More than 20 million copies of his albums have been sold since his breakthrough hit "Come Monday" in 1974. He is known for his tropical rock sound and promoted enjoying life. His fans are known as "Parrot Heads". Some other great songs are "Margaritaville", "Cheeseburger in Paradise", and "Son of a Son of a Sailor", but there are many more. We lost Jimmy on Sept 1, 2023 at the age of 76. RIP Jimmy Buffet - you are missed!
Jimmy Buffett is a legend. I think you will absolutely love his music. Listen to "Margaritaville". I think you have stumbled onto a musician you will relate to in many ways.
If you listen to Jimmy, you’ll like “Pirate looks at 40”, “He Went to Paris”… great ballads both… “Weather is here, Wish you were Beautiful “ is best story for me…
Jimmy passed away in September 2023. He had some great songs the most popular being Margaritaville. Check that out along with his song “Come Monday”. Jimmy Buffett’s band was the Coral Reefer Band. And his fans were known as parrot heads.
OH Yes, Jimmy Bufffett loved the island life many of his songs show that. I think as you are like minded about the islands you would enjoy his work. His songs put a little bounce in my step when I need reminding there is someplace magical for all of us.
Jimmy Buffet WAS beach music. His songs of the beach life, oceans and that life style made him a superstar beloved by all of his millions of fans. His sold out concerts are legendary, Margaritaville if his most famous song.
Going to see Jimmy Buffett was not just a concert. It was an experience. The tailgating was epic. People would bring sand & pools, grills, drinking games. You could spend all day going from setup to set up. Fins is a great song, but my favorite is One Particular Harbor.
"It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" is a song performed by Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett, and written by Jim "Moose" Brown and Don Rollins. It was released in June 2003 as the lead single from Jackson's 2003 compilation album Greatest Hits Volume II.
Yes, Jimmy owned the Margaritaville brand. Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Holdings was a major contributor to his wealth, which was estimated to be around $1 billion when he died in September 2023: Margaritaville Holdings: Buffett's brand licensing business included restaurants, hotels, resorts, and merchandise, and brought in between $1.5 billion and $2 billion annually. His music catalogue worth about 500million
Jimmy Buffet was a beloved songwriter from Key West Florida. His songs were like Florida Folk music. Margaritaville was his most well know song. He used to play for drinks in Key West. Later in life the ‘Margaritaville’ brand spawned restaurants, frozen food, beach decor and a very popular housing community in Daytona Beach.
Check out Margarittaville by Jimmy Buffet. He owned the Margarittaville restaurant chain and Landsharks in Myrtle Beach, SC. Jimmy also did a song with Zac Brown Band called Knee Deep. Great song.
Jimmy buffets fame can make almost everyone else look small. His music is often fun sometimes very deep. He went to Paris. Fins. Why don't we get drunk. Lmao. Plz do alot of his
I seen alan jackson play on center hill lake in july of 1994, a friend and i were fishing and someone he knew came up to us and said there was going to be a boat concert later so we followed him to the place and tied up to some other boats he knew. we were drinking beer and it ended up being alan jackon. it was a great time I wont forget. I did learn that Mosquitoes flies and other bugs liked alan jackson too.
Jimmy Buffett started a whole genre of Caribbean Rock. I had a beer with him one night after a show in a tiny local club. Try all the recommended songs, I will add, try "Come Monday" and "Why Don't We Get Drunk...." to experience the full love song spectrum!
Drunken Caribbean Rock and Rock is what Jimmy calls his music. Allen wrote the song and asked Jimmy to sing it with him. Both artists sang this during their concerts. Buffet concerts were a wild party, the crowd tailgated for hours before the concert and sang every song along with the band.
Buffett was a true entrepreneur, worth a billion dollars. His laid back musical style, his books, his trademarks...from Mobile, Alabama, but later associated with the Keys.
You need to explore Jimmy Buffet. He's a legend. He's got a tropical country vibe. Literally in his own category. His followers were called "Parrotheads". Margaritaville, obviously. One of my favorites of JB's is "Come Monday". Such a beautiful song.
I learned of Jimmy Buffett in '76! Have 5 of his albums & have seen him 3 times in concert! He is his own genre! We'll make a Parrothead of you yet Robert! 😘
I was lucky enough to see Jimmy Buffett in 15 states in the US, as well as Canada, Ireland, London, and France. In total I was only able to go to 69 concerts. Jimmy co-founded the Save The Manatee Foundation and performed several times for Playing for Change. If you want to delve into him deeper don't go for the most popular songs. You should check out who has been a member of his band though including Nadirah Shakoor from Arrested Development who was with his band for 28 years.
The JB rabbit hole is the best rabbit hole you will ever explore. He helped so many people get their start. He L-I-V-E-D !! He lived the life we all wish we had the balls to live. World traveler, poet, father, pilot, boat captain author, actor, businessman songwriter, friend to all! You will enjoy the stories. Getting shot at while rolling down the runway leaving Jamaica. Shoplifting food from a store when he was young and broke, then, years later as the band was traveling to a gig, stopping to tape a bag full of money to the front door early in the morning before they opened. Timmothy B Schmit of the Eagles was a member of The Coral Reefer Band for a while. he is the one who gave us fans the name Parrotheads! I miss that man! P.S. With a worth of over $1Billion I guess he would qualify as OG.
Jimmy Buffett was the epitome of let’s get on the beach and just have a party. You need to do a reaction on Margaritaville and then on cheeseburger in paradise you can go from there but once you get those two you’ve got the big part of it understood.
Someone’s probably mentioned it already in the comments, but Jimmy Buffett is a legend from my hometown. He plays music you want to listen to at the beach or something. You never heard of Margaritaville? Is his biggest song probably. He’s a good one to react to, but my favorite by him is called a pirate looks at 40. Check it out.. He passed away recently. RIP.
When I was a kid, my Mom used to play Margaritaville. I love seeing these videos because it brings back so many memories that otherwise wouldn't be brought back to me. I lost my Mom 10 years ago this coming January and the memories mean so much.

There are Parrotheads EVERYWHERE! He was NOT country. There are so many songs he did, that are wonderful. People dressed in grass skirts, leis, shark fin hats, and we just all danced our fannies off in the stands. He is SO missed. A Freddie Mercury of a different music.
I almost fell of my seat when he said he must be an OG or a legend (Jimmy Buffett)....WHAT? That is an understatement.
I live near the Gulf and if he would say that around here, he would be run out of town....lmao.
