The whole song is not a "remake" it's original.
The guy rapping in the song is from the group De La Soul. This one was a favorite of mine to play when I had the game rockband back in the day. Playing this on the drums and bass was everything, especially the drums.
Also The song you were thinking about is Let it Whip by Dazz Band I think.

The message of the video is you have the corporate manufactured “feel good” sex drugs etc, but as you see the protagonist is trapped in that really as a dimly lit jail. But the real feel good he longs for is what he sees out the window, the beauty and simplicity of nature. The helicopters belong to the corporate Feel Good Inc. and are chasing and trying to snuff out the beauty of nature. Watch the video again carefully.

I love this. But it's not sampling Let it Whip or anything else. That high pitched two notes you hear are the words "feel good". But it was hilarious to hear your interpretation of "we're here to have some fun" as "we're here from Africa." 😂

I would classify the Gorillaz as sentient graffiti characters... Kinda like what your characters are doing between pieces.... But thats just like my own little fan fiction backstory I conjured up....
But it made sense at the time and even though I've heard otherwise I find it hard to drop my theory completely, Ok like they debuted during an urban art movement which had a habit of popping every 5-10 years or so, but very shortly after like we're talking months.... The whole world changed, and graffiti got way more political and mainstream.... Kinda like a jazzy underground Rage Against the Machine....
