Just had to come on here and say that I just passed my airframe/general O&Ps, partly due to this video. This was the most clear and sensible instruction on a double wrap and it came up as a practical. Because of this video I knew exactly what I was doing

Love the old school instructors. Blunt, straight forward and right to it. Always the most knowledgeable in the hangars at AMT schools. Great vid, going to do this later on for an O&P prep session

Just wanted to say thank you. I have only worked on fly-by-wire systems and didn't know much about safety wiring these turnbuckle systems. I just so happened to get this project on my practical and I knew what to do because of your video. Thanks for the help!

I was taught by the Air Force how to safety EVERYTHING, by super-old-school C-130 engine NCO's (I was a C-130 engine troop during my military service). This video is crisp, clear, and concise on how to do t-buckles correctly. One MINOR thing I might do is to double the cut end over and THEN tuck it. Exposed cut ends are called "wrist-slitters" for a reason, even if they're tucked!

Us 130 Engine guys are always the best at safety wires, the culture is just different compared to other engine guys.

Can you explain why you adjusted the cable to 30 lbs using the 3/32” guide on the cable tension gauge and followed the 1/8” cable guidelines in the book?

Beautiful work. Only concerning issue is too many instructors not expressing the importance of not wearing wrist or hand jewelry when safe tying. Also realistically it won’t be this easy as most safe tying is done in super confined spaces. Over all 10/10! the two aviation bibles, the FAR and AC43.13B.

That book is the AC 43.13-1B (Acceptable Methods, Techniques and Practices Aircraft Inspection and Repair). You can find it free on the FAA website. AND the exact table he used is on page 7-45 or pg 352. I'm currently in AMT school which is how I know.

@@sergiobarbosa5052 most of these you can Google and find the PDF version. I would look up the FAA-H- 8083-30A, the 43.13-1B, and possible buy an app called Prepare for General, Airframe & Powerplant.
