This is the exact type of game that even if you lose, you know you did all you can do. Such a good match. Actually every single one of the matches in this tournament has been amazing.
Sad that Stanford didn’t get to advance but I happy and excited for San Diego! Gabby Blossom is amazing at creating points offensively even in out-of-system plays. Sami Francis needed more practice coming out recovery; I believe Stanford would’ve won is Francis was more offensive. I’m glad all Stanford starters will be returning next year!
truly but i also think that it comes with age and experience which basically none of these players have. however with all of the starters coming back next year i think stanford is in good hands !!
@@kennedymoua1385 this group of players have been playing in the pac12 for a while now so they have a good amount of experience, hopefully next year they’ll have some fire under them
@@youthought1343 well if you actually really look at it this team has really no experience. caitie and mckenna redshirted their true frehsman year so they didn’t play till the covid year and they barely played that season. not to mention elena, she was a freshman that year as well and sami was injured majority of this season. kendall has the most playing time for sure but even then she didn’t play much in the ncaa tournament her freshman year. but yesss fs i really hope they have a huge fire next year !!
They just have very laid back personalities…their blocking was their biggest weakness; too many out of system plays were not taken advantage of; that was the old group’s break and butter (tough serving and blocking). Their second biggest weakness was Katie baird; I hate to put blame on one player but when she isn’t doing well her confidence stays down, alot of sets were wasted on her.
So impressed with San Diego this season. Had my doubts as I’m sure many people did too, but I’ve always loved Gabby Blossom. Between Stanford and San Diego, that was really the difference. Blossom is fantastic at setting tempo and has some of the best out of system setting location that I’ve seen in a while. Picks her moments to set middle well too. Was skeptical about her teammates but they proved that they too can compete with the best of them. Excited for them to take on Texas and will be rooting for them to upset another powerhouse 🤩🤩.
This was an awesome match. The power, height and defense these teams had = GREAT matchup. SD should've had the #1 seed and they proved that here. Stanford will be in the semis (arguably finals) next year. I think the semis this yr will be more like the finals bc of how stacked both teams are (SD vs T). Well done SD!
I know people will disagree with this, but I feel like the reason I dislike Stanford and always have is because they play so timid and like they don't care, they look like they think they are too cool to be on the court. There is no fire, no urgency. Its like they have the same court presence as when they had Jenna gray, Plummer, Hentz, but just aren't good enough to back it up. I think Catie Baird is a huge negative for their team. She is SO timid. When she makes an error, she says nothing, looks forward, but not in a "Im gonna destroy the next ball" kind of way, more like a "ugh I hate volleyball" type of way.
Katie is the only one like that on the team…you just sound like a hater. In sports there are different personalities like in everything; people like plummer and kipp are not the type that wears everything on their sleeves, but don’t be fooled, they are super competitive. On the other hand texas players are very fiery and I see people hate on them all the time , calling them cocky. There’s a difference in being timid in the way you play and personality wise.
@@ajollypanda4175 Nah, im not saying they need to do what Texas does and scream through the net, roll their eyes, point and laugh, I am saying they need more energy. Stanfords libero has so many insane digs in this and its like they never happened because the team barely celebrates. I couldn't care less if they fix it, I have always disliked Stanford for that, and yes, Texas too for their cocky attitudes. Just an observation.

@@seancouvillion6038 Ok. How many titles has Iowa State won besides beating Texas? How you feel now that we're champs again. Losing to Iowa State seems to always historically be a springboard to Texas reaching the National title game. In 2009 they blew a 2-0 lead somehow to unbeaten Penn State, in 2012 they won the National Championship, in 2016 lost to Stanford, in 2022 won the National title again.
To be honest, I have faced trials until now, in real life and various pitfalls, left, right, up and down, but I don't even have a left leg. I used to be a faithful servant of Allah. In fact, I have been used for decades. Behind the tests, there is a silver lining,
I noticed that too and I prefer setters that can do one legged running sets just like Louisville's Raquel Lazaro which adds versatility instead a stationary two foot set.
I was surprised at that too, baird was so out of confidence but she was trying too hard to go against the grain and not set kipp…she only went to kipp when she needed a kill and that’s obvious
@@ajollypanda4175 I can count on my hands how many times she set her middles…THE WHOLE MATCH. She needs to change it up, if Stanford is gonna have any chance next year

Damn even the announcers were speechless at the end! The way they were hyping Stanford you would’ve thought they won!
Actually Paul Sunderland mentioned he thinks San Diego should be #1 instead of Stanford and I agree.
So sad how NCAA and the many others doubted SD.
That makes those tournaments even better when they do pull of something
I mean they didn’t make the finals so
