Years old now but thanks for the good demo of actual stations. Most Model One demo videos spend so much time on weak stations, static, and AM, basically making the radio sound like garbage. This was real world use. Thanks.
You are not going to believe this. I picked up one today for seven dollars at a Goodwill store. It just came out of the back and I got lucky to be there and grab it. I have ordered an external FM antenna and I’m looking for an external a.m. also. What antenna do you use?
I had one of these for a while. I liked it for listening to talk programs but didn't care for listening to music on it. I also felt the AM sensitivity was a bit weak. I ended up selling mine to fund another project but kind of regret doing so now. Thanks for sharing!
Managed to pick up one of these for $30! It's such a neat little radio. Might add a chromecast audio to the aux port to give it a little bit extra functionality
Why is it so heavy? I got one of these at a yard sale. Do you think there are weights in it that are not needed or do you think it is components or case design for better audio? I pay $10 for it.
I have one of these, tonality is great, but I wasn't to impressed with reception, my need to dig it out and try again....but then again, I get a lot of noise in my house...did you get the external spkr with it? I have not, not sure if I will. Thanks John, great video! ~Jack, VEG
THATS surprising. The reception is fucking incredible for me. Beats out the radio on many of my modern receivers. Perhaps you are missing the little antennae wire attachment it comes with. ?
I have one too Jack, got mine for three bucks on the flea market. The reception is OK on mine, date code of '04. It did have some damage, but only to the cabinet, and it was a simple fix. Tuning pot is scratchy of course, it's almost unavoidable with those. I guess you couldn't source good quality tuning condensers anymore in the 2000s. Only those plastic squasher ones for pocket radios. Even a Henry Kloss is just as good as his suppliers...
@@westelaudio943 Howdy WA! I have not had a chance to open mine up, got mine at a 2nd hand store, dorked with it, wasn't impressed, put it up and thats where its been ever since. @@bartsimpson8616 I meant new. I got mine for 3 bucks on the flea market. Very, very lucky. It's feet were gone, it was dirty as hell and one of the thread posts holding it together was snapped, making it rattle. But it was a simple fix, after all. The tuning condenser is still scratchy though, which is a problem they almost all have. I left it in as it isn't too bad yet, and I don't use it daily anyways. I wouldn't pay too much for a used one because of that problem. I guess in the 2000s you couldn't source high quality tuning condensers anymore, but I wonder why they didn't go with a diode based tuner (varactor) instead - same feel and functionality, minimal additional curcuitry and if something wears out, it's usually just a cheap and easy to replace pot.

Best radio ever. At a price up to 100$ used it is totally worth it
Nonsense. Terrible volume control & inconsistent tuning knob loses stations.
Nice sounding radio. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Arjun Gandhi wow $30! You got a very good deal. Thanks for stopping by.
Its utilitarian look is aesthetically pleasing!
Man i wish my area had decent radio stations to listen to so I'd have an excuse to buy one of these :(
Nice radio!
I have a question: Don't you miss bass and treble control?
Thank you.
Yes it would be nice if it had those controls. I still like the radios style. Thanks for stopping by.👍❤️📻
I found one for $7, I’d say that’s a decent price
Score! Very nice 👍👍

it's a nice radio. The wood case and big speaker add to the weight. If you got this for $10 then you got a good deal. Thanks for watching.
I have one as well, but I prefer the updated version the model 88 that was made by Cambridge Sound Works, Henry Kloss last projects. Brilliant man

Good job.
have one BT version, i love it!
One of the last designs of Henry Kloss. Neat thing, but very expensive.
True. Waaaaay overpriced for the quality you get; sure, the cabinet looks wonderful, but the tuner and volume pots are the cheapest that you can buy.
its not too expensive its like 70 eu ''used '' as new .

Latest radios have not analog tuning, they are with digital tunig inside...old model one is dead, don't buy newest...
What is the advantage of analog tuner over a digital tuner?
When did they discontinue analog tuning models for the newer Model One radios with digital tuning?
