If that early clip of her as a teen or early 20s didnt say like greatest singer alive then I dont know what would. I cant think of any living singer that could reproduce that.
This is nice, but shoulda included her performance of "You'll Never Walk Alone" at the Apollo in the 80s.....She definitely brought us to church that night.
Aretha was light years ahead, as was Houston.. Patti's voice is ugly, powerful, loud, great range.., but stone cold ugly regards tone and technically very limited.
She never took anybody to church, she lacks any authenticity as a gospel singer, she is always performing, it is a rehearsed show, and exhibition of her volume and yelling, but it certainly isn't genuine gospel, regards singing solely to ones maker, to god. Patti has never been able to sing truthfully to god, it is a performance every time, she even acknowledges the audience in a way you would singing a secular performance. That isn't gospel, gospel is when you sing to god and nobody else.
Every show she does is different and you just sound like a hater every singer needs to warm up their voice and rehearse with background singers. She is not a trained singer but definitely found HER voice.
@@clchawaii09 Patti has a loud voice with a big powerful range and a dramatic way in which she uses it, a style of her own as she climbs the scale and lifts the listener. But I never found her voice to be a thing of beauty, it has a coarse sound, a sharp tone and poor phrasing and pitchy quite often when she tries for too much. Her sound is not a spiritual sound and I don't associate it with gospel. It is a rehearsed exhibition of power and range rather than an authentic artistic delivery or spiritual moment. She could never be an Aretha or an Ann Nesby, who's voices are just naturally moving.
Where there is good evil is always present are you I definitely it! One thing I have noticed you like Patti LaBelle a lot you just can't take her because she's so much better then your favorite that's why you got to come every where she's at you fight that feeling but it's okay we know the truth, and you do too! 😂🤣😂 you can't keep fighting it for too long..lol
@@patgorden5002 You are very funny as always, but I have told you so many times that I love Patti, I have her cd's and have been to her shows, she is a favourite of mine. But we have to be honest about her art. It has many limitations. When I want drama she fits the bill, or did in her 80s prime, her big voice finale's are all very exciting.. But, when I want soul, authentic instinctive beautiful singing, I want to be soothed, my soul satisfied, I would never reach for Patti, that would be Aretha, Ann Nesby, Betty Wright or Martha Wash, they all have far more moving and beautiful and emotive voices that Patti. And yes, obviously Aretha sits on the throne when it comes to beauty through song. Hope this clarifies for you.
that first clip shook me to my core.
