Wolfgang was undoubtedly one of the finest bands who came out blazing from the great music era of the 90’s. I saw them when they first appeared on TV doing “halik ni hudAs” on SAng linggo NapO silA, a popular noon time variety show during that time. All the members were having long hAir and they rocked. There was a time when conventional rock enthusiasts became tired of listening pop rock sound which dominated the local music industry before. People longed for a heavy rock band and Wolfgang emerged at the right time and at the right moment. They were different because they were inspired by the classic rock of the 60-70’s like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. The latter band influenced the way they wrote their songs having darker direction and meaning. Those who likened Wolfgang to Metallica were ignorant of Wolfgang’s music. They were more bluesy and hard rock group, a bit of heavy metal in their system but they never had a trash sound which best described Metallica’s music. The only Filipino bAnd who released albums in the US and Japan. Their original drummer who was the founder of the band named Wolf Gemora left because he was disgusted by the direction taken by the Philippine music scene. Let’s enjoy Wolfgang’s music!
