Instead of pre-med I did finance. I'm double majoring in. I question every moment of my existence. I worked at a start up CS place in my freshman summer and now I'm interning at some consulting firm. I don't even know whats going on in my life and I literally remember nothing.
Ah I want to be a doctor, but computer science is always on the back of my mind. I also did really bad in AP Bio in high school & doing way better in college. Thank you for this video! I’m just nervous about switching to CS because math is not my strongest subject
There always is the option to do both and figure out what you like most! Shadowing and volunteering for pre-med will give you a good sense of what it's really like beyond bio classes! Have you tried Intro Computer Science?
this video really resonated with me especially because I am a premed student and trying to major in CS at the same time. Do you do one-on-one mentorship? if yes, I would be very glad if I can join one of your sessions. Thank you!
Have studied two years quite hard to get a medicine admission in Germany. Now I matriculated for maths haha. Seeing parallels here ;) Thanks for being so courageous in public!
Hi! I am also studying CS in Germany and am in the exact same confusion, as to whether to change to Medicine. Do you mind if I can talk to you a bit more in detail about your choice, since, I am trying to get insights before I make a decision.
I'm trying to switch from pre-med to coding, but not really. I want to combine the two together tbh. I want to be able to fulfill my dream of medicine, but use some sort of innovative technology to do some stuff.
That's basically me.. But I'm here as a 15 year old high schooler and premed doin my research ..but i still can't figure out how on this freakin world you TAKE these subjects.. where do you learn it from?? Is it all online??
I'm doing engineering in biotech. You have the medical part as well as the coding part here. And specialize in biomedical, bioinformatics etc there's many options
DUDEE I DID THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF YOU HAHAHA. In hs I vowed never to take science classes ever again, and moved to CS major, and now I’m going to change to pre-med because I realised I hated programming more than science 😂😂
I was honestly very surprised when my parents were okay with my switch to CS. I think just proving that you have a game plan is important, so maybe show your parents how you will use your CS major after you graduate? What major were you initially planning on doing?
My dad is okay with me doing CS major, but my mom and my entire family sees me majoring in pre med so that I can become a doctor in the future. I am a freshman taking intro to comp sci right now and so far I am really enjoying the class. Whenever I tell my family members I will be majoring in comp sci they have that disappointing look and it actually bothers me. Also, I just found out about your channel and have been binge watching all other video that you posted haha. Loved all the content. Keep up the good work!!
I’m also split between medicine and software engineering, i have an interest and previous knowledge about medicine but don’t really have it for software engineering but I’m considering it cause it will make me earn money faster but I’m scared i won’t like it. Do you have any advice for me, please let me know.
Wow, amazing, I always wanted to choose that path, here in my country I haven't the opportunity, but looking around I found that MIT+Harvard "double degree" and I loved it haha. Sadly I never study none of CS or Med, or even another one of my like (Electronic eng or economics), life it's very curious, anyways, great video.
I always loved CS but I also wanted to do be in the pre-PA route too. I didn't think it was possible till I watch this video so thank you for existing 🤓🤓
ahh me too. im a cs major but lowkey thinking about pre-PA which seems like too much work. I really wanna end up deciding. How did u decide to just go cs and not pre-med?
The best part of this video is the situation which i can totally relate with myself ..... i was interested in bio (itna zaida ki baki ko subject hi nahi mana ) but comming to 11th thinks got changed and turned to physics , things were cool but my results were not upto mark suddenly i got fasconated in cse in 12 th cbse (and bio became the thing of least care...... all because of that memorising and all i only liked genetics photosynthesis stuff and all when i saw that bio is 88% memorising and 12% concepts so bhar me jai bio......) and yeah with in four months of knowing simple concepts like variables operations loops some algorithms and yes strings my best part... i have made my own AI (should i call it AI? though it does all the works like an AI) in java doing works like a genaral assistant does like opening youtube jokes simple mathamatical operation location music etc though voice of that primitive tts was so called faltu.... and i also added up counseling feature of assistant ... Also took part in Google code in for first time without knowing much about js but took tutorials and got a t shirt (esiliye toh part liya tha) though quite hard to do aside when jee mains were going on...... the best part of my task was when i was told to research about responding of assistant in an environment with multiple variables like a crowd wrt to deep learning ( though not coded only research ) ... i dont know why i am sharing this but its just.......☺☺☺😰😲😒😷😷😮😑☺☺😂😁😀 things are going smoother but now woh... jee and neet .....😣😷😒 Anyway cool video☺☺☺☺
They definitely are for gaining experience. However, for tech internships especially, companies look for prior experience. Even if this isn't in the form of a previous internship, it can take the form of previous projects you've completed on your own or for a class, research, or relevant experience in other fields.
Honestly you seem super likable :). The fact that you actually showed your grades in these courses -- mad props! I feel like that's something I would have struggled to do if I was making this video. So props haha. I am also a CS major right now :). It's funny that you didn't really seem to like your lower level courses (like about circuits and low-level programming and such) -- those I think are my favorite! But I am definitely in the minority of my peers lol. And it's understandable -- can you imagine how long it'd take to make a web-app in C? Lol. I certainly readily admit that the lower level stuff is not the most immediately useful, but I just like understanding more about how the computer works on the inside :). It's pretty crazy how much we can do with just little logic gates!!! Your story gave me a little bit of calm in what seems like a hyper-competitive tech world. It's so easy to be intimidated by the FANG interviews (and I definitely AM intimidated by them) but hopefully one day I can do one and get an offer, Anyways, Thanks for sharing, and subscribed :).
Organic chemistry went bad!?😂😂🤣🤣..tell me when was the last time someone said Organic chemistry is good🤔🤔😁...That subject itself is meant to inflict pain to students.
Hiiiiiiii this is such as great video! I'm wondering Is CS111 'introductory' enough for students that haven't learned any CS in high school? Will they teach python and java(in CS230) from the very basics? or do students generally have enough knowledge of this before coming to class
Hi!! Great to know the zigzag paths in careers is not a big deal anymore. I have a query regarding which kind of major and minor you can take in education? My sister is an Odissi Dancer but also interested in maths, techie things and travelling and performing arts are a few of her hobbies. I was just curious to know if she can take a very different set of subjects in her studies which will enhance her personality and not just focusing on job perspectives.

I’m a high school senior right now, and it is literally my dream to volunteer at a medical camp in India… could you please tell me how you were able to do that?
Hi, Thanks for your video. I really wish you answer my question. I am ambitious to become a doctor. I had physics, chemistry and biology in my grade 11 and 12. I then did my bachelors in computer engineering (GPA: 3.75) and then did my masters in computer science(GPA: 3.25) . I now want to give MCAT and then apply for Doctor of Medicine in Canada. You had a really nice adventure😂. My parents also wanted me to study medicine but I choose CS😂. So I'm in first year and I don't know which modules are the best for this course. How did you manage to balance time for your internships and learning?

As a CS major, it's super true. I'm fearing my first B as the classes get harder and the covid depression remains constant.
For premeds a B+ or B- is pretty bad. If you get a C you should reconsider taking the course.
That's a fail for Asian students
