-The aspect that convinced me the most was that the firmware upgrade actually upgraded an internal gyroscope. This change my perception that the Pro was only slightly upgradable but was more like a Tesla.
-Also finding that new Aerophone Pro users now get free 6 months of access to Roland cloud.
This update confirms that I did the right decision to upgrade from the AE-10 to the Pro. Thanks Alistair for your videos, I wouldn't discover half of the possibilities of this instrument without your help

... and I have add my little plug... I would hope with your excellent videos and playing abilities that Roland asks for your feedback and the feedback from your fan base... please suggest to the Roland wizards to implement a "microphone" into the mouthpiece so that it will detect our "humming" and better enable us to mimic the action that makes a traditional sax growl... it would of course be another controller for whatever parameters the user wanted. I play mostly "pop" sax parts which have lots of passages with the growl going continuously and I am far from coordinated enough to use my thumb joystick the whole time I am playing the passage on my AE-10... the new motion control seems like it will be a great way to add the growl for this purpose so I am looking forward to trying out the AE-30! Wow, I just purchase the AE-10 before I knew about this incredible update. I saw in the manual that you can program the fingering for one hand performance for either hands. Have they consider doing a split and be able to play 2 timbral style of playing with both hands? Even the Yamaha WX have the ability to hold a note while continuing playing the other notes. Also in the manual I saw that you can have chord playing with the editor on the ae-10, and I assume that the AE-30 would have that as well. So it seems logical that there must be a way to not only split the keys for each hand but also make each tone contain at least 2 layer of sound. Imagine one hand playing chords while the other hand playing melody! or one hand play the bass line and the other hand the melody!
Hello Ailistair! What an excellently explained video. I couldn't find anyone who explains the Roland Aerophone Pro better than you. Not at all in the German-speaking area. Please please Alistair, give us German subtitles !!!

Hello from Spain, Alistair. A great video. Can you please explain how to export a tone (or a set of tones) from Zenology Pro and import it (or the set) into the Aerophone Pro? I’ve tried it, but Aerophone doesn’t recognize the file created on Zenology Pro; it seems the Aerophone only recognize the files from Sound Packs buyed on Roland Cloud. Thanks!
Love the AE-30! Would you please a class on motion and how to do it. I need a step by step. It’s still very confusing.

Thanks Alistair, from Downunder. Great videos, I’m a converted sax player who can now actually play in tune ;), and setup my instrument in 30 secs. Before I splash out in the upgrade, I want to see how my AE 10 sounds with a good external sound card. I use a MacBook Pro, any suggestions?
There are so many to choose from. I use Focusrite.

Hi. Keep an eye out for the next videos I will demonstrate the key sound. There will always be some sound from the mechanical keys but I think its much improved on the AE-20.

You had me at Version 2. I had been looking at, and considering buying, the Yamaha YDS-150 but the sounds of that instrument seem so limited. The Roland instruments seem much better to me.

Here’s a question. After uploading the appropriate drivers and correct settings in your DAW, how do you record the Roland ae-30 sounds in your recordings? I appreciate your feedback.
Make sure the USB driver setting on the Aerophone is set to ‘Vendor’. Remember whenever you change that setting you have to turn the unit off and on again for the setting to be recognised.

I don't think so.
Someone could possibly design or recreate the sound using the Zenology Pro software synthesizer plug-in and that patch/tone could be imported into the AE-30. If the sound you are interested in is a factory patch it maybe worthwhile to contact Roland Customer Support and suggest recreating the factory sounds for the prior Aerophone instruments as AE-30 sound packs.

Alistair may I ask a question about Midi in Please as I have been unable to determine this from the user guides. If I connect to a DAW via midi and record the midi can I then edit the Midi in the DAW and send it back to the AE via its Midi in for playback. Great videos by the way.
I haven't tried that but I'm pretty sure this does work.
@@isax.academy Many thanks. Since I posted this question I tried it and it does work. A lot of work though as its easy to move the notes in the DAW but alighning with the breath mid messages is somewhat messy.
Can you do a video on managing sounds? It's actually very confusing once you start importing sound packs and especially expansion packs...

Exciting update, can anybody solve a mystery of mine though.
Turning scene delay down to 0 leaves the scene still swimming in delay but the remove all effects function does remove the delay. Really not sure what's happening there and it's frustrating, any clues?
Hi. The effects routing is complicated. Did you try looking at the effect in the app? You'll get a better idea of what's going on. There are on/off switches in the app.

Where can we find a list of the new scenes?
New versions of the AE-30 documents should be available from the Roland web site. You can go through the Support menu or the Product menu. Under Support navigate to Support by Product, select Owner Manuals, select Aerophone Pro and the Scene List should be an option. If you go through the Product menu find Aerophone Pro under Synthesizers>Digital Wind Instruments. Select Support and you should have an option for Owner’s Manuals. There are also new sound packs available through Roland Cloud.
Are these made in Japan or China?
Roland is a Japanese company but the are manufactured in China I think.
Dear Alistair: I already owned an aerophone AE-10. And I am considering to buy an AE-30 soon. But before making the final decision, I have a question to clarify. My question is that if it is possible for AE-30 to control various vibrato functions,such as vibrato rate, vibrato depth etc., on "The Trumpet 3" using motion sensor ?
Yes. You would have to make the settings on the Aerophone and within the SWAM interface but yes totally possible.

So I've been considering purchasing the AE-30, and was initially disappointed because I almost bought ver1, and was afraid I'd miss out on these new features.
Got to the end of the video to realise it's a FREE SOFTWARE UPDATE?! Incredible.
One thing I'm a little confused about, what was the purpose of the motion sensor before the update?
The hardware for motion sensing was there from the start, but only enabled at the 2.0 update. This is fairly common in electronic product design, to include components that can be turned on at a later date. Sometimes this is because the software to use the functionality is not ready at product release, or the same electronics are used in different products with different feature sets. Anyways, I'm excited about the possibilities of motion control!
I really do not understand why you are always playing this weird(I guess called sync lead) sound longer instead of alto, tenor, or other beautiful instruments.

When I want to play a saxophone I play a real saxophone. I'm not a big fan of the saxophone sounds on the Aerophone. I see the Aerophone as offering a sax player 'other' sounds. I love those saw tooth synth sounds.
@@isax.academy Thanks for your response, but please keep in mind that people are also looking for muted saxophone so as not to disturb anyone. So a real saxophone cannot be played all the time. Thanks.
