True, but that's way more work than what a casual consumer would be willing to put in. Even in custom keyboards, there's more and more hot swappable options for this reason
It appears to fix some of the shortcomings of the G915. Kind of wish I waited for the 'X', now it's a thing. But I actually like my G915 TKL a lot. Note I'm a gamer, over productivity. Also, I like the aesthetics of the keyboard. Battery life is exceptionally good. It's apparently better on the 'X'. There is also no latency whatsoever. It's a great, true 'low profile' keyboard. Unlike most, where the main chassis/frame are still too high and kind of defeat the purpose. Hence no unsightly palm rest needed. Adding a type-c charging/connectivity port? About time, LOL. This 'X' variant, may replace it down the road. I bought the G915, as my mouse of choice is the G502, so I only need 'G-Hub' and not another bloatware software package, just to add a different keyboard. The fact you can replace the key caps, where you couldn't on the previous version, is a win. Yes hot swappable switches should be on this, at its price point. The new key caps are made of a different material, PPT double shot, over ABS shine through. Having a rough texture, over the older more smooth keycaps? They should last a lot longer. The keys would feel far less flimsy to the 915 as well with the type 2 choc switches.
Yeah the 915X really is a step above the G915 in a lot of ways. As a gamer, you likely will have the same benefits from both and the new one would only add longevity with the PBT keycaps. Glad you're enjoying the G915 non-x though, it's still a great keyboard, it was about time Logitech updated it
What are some of the custom low profile keyboards were you referring to? I likely will return mine and get one that's quieter. The one you showed at 4:20 had a very pleasant sound to the typing.
I think a good alternative for this one would be the Air line from Nuphy. They don't have a full size, but their 96v2 is a good alternative and I feel like they have one of the best out of the box sound. For full size keyboard, I would recommend the Keychron K5 Max. And thanks, the keyboard at 4:20 is the Mode Sonnet and it has a beautiful design, but it's a normal profile keyboard if you're looking for a low profile specific one
@@Troynex I personally would go for the linear switches, but in reality it's all preference based. The sound isn't much different on this keyboard between the different switches
@nerdgrafx awesome i want it real bad but the programming might be a little tough for me lol don't know much on the coding languages so might take me a good while.
@@ANDKCNYC I’m definitely not good at coding either haha, my shortcuts are simple ones like cut, copy, and redo which are all set up easily with VIA since you just record your keystrokes and save the macros that way.
i might miss it from your video but i need to ask, how's the charging speed compared to the predecessor? is it the same or faster since it's now using a USB C?
I’ve always liked the hand sensor for the lighting! And yeah the G Hub software could use some work, but it’s way better than it was before for customizing it how you like
Yeah I think the mechanical keyboards are performing well right now with more and more companies releasing low profile ones so I can see how they wanted to keep the same feel on this update.
probably not. They fked up keycaps on original G915, but on G915X they made them PBT, better material, better texture, and different stem profile... So owners of original are screwed :( I'm wondering why no one showing real examples of usage of G-keys, G-shift, and keycontrol? Literally hundreds of reviews and no one ever showed a single real example. Like look - you can make 50 custom macros for Premiere and assign them across all board with g-shift...

@@YTU-365 yes and no... New PBT keycaps are wearing off pretty fast too, but in a different way. Legends are not wearing, but texture is getting polished and it starts to look ugly and dirty. 😒
Don't buy this. There are much better keyboards available. I just got a keychron for about the same price as this and it is a thousand times better than my logitech.
Oh nice! Keychron is always a great choice for the customizability of it! Logitech’s spot is for those that prefer to use G Hub over VIA/GMK, but agreed that if you’re comfortable with VIA, there are other better options
You can use a soldering iron to swap out switches in all fairness

@@nerdgrafxI'm so mad this keyboard isn't hot swappable 4 the price! CUZ SOLDERING is fun but i think 2 much work too

It's relatively the same, I haven't noticed any significant increase in charging speeds.
Would have loved a hand sensor like the MX, even though it’s gaming rather than productivity focused. Can’t stand the software.
