Thank you sir for being very balanced and civil about the tablet comparison. You've detailed all of the features both have to offer and, most importantly, you've left it up to the viewer to decide which tablet they like the most. The majority I've seen just start flame wars with biased viewpoints, so you should be creditded for that. Good job. :)
Great job getting the Ipad Air vs Galaxy Note 10.1 video up so quickly! Gotta say I agree about the camera. I was shocked they didn't upgrade.. Still, I think I'll end up going with the Ipad Air.. Great apps plus fifth gen stability..
pretty neat comparison Really good work there Saf :D am shocked at what samsung has beat apple in the hardware i was gaga-ing for the iPad air but this will make me think things through again
Have an iPad but after getting the Galaxy S4, wondered why I didn't drop Apple sooner, so just ordered the Galaxy Note 2014 (first world problems). Can't wait, as never get on the iPad for my daughter
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) is by far the best tablet on the market! I use it everyday for taking notes and scrapbooking, I have no regrets on owning it!
Great spec comparison dude @supersaf as you say it's absolutely down to personal preference. I think iPad Air is very classy and stylish with great software but I am going for samsung note as it's more customisable and larger screen among other things that appeal to me. Thanks again for the vid
The funny thing about all the comments is that none have squat to do with this video. He is not telling you what to buy. He is just informing and educating you on the specs of each tablet individually. He also left it clear that each choice depends on what the hell you want your tablet to do. Just that simple!! If you are a person that likes or needs to multi-task than the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 is good for you, but if you want a more luxurious look and light feel to your full size tablet, then the Ipad Air is the right one for you.
Hi Saf! I really like your videos and your truly awesome, you deserve many many more subs. One question I have is if buying the Nexus 7 a good investment. I really want a android tablet but the problem is that I have a Ipad 4 and many apps from App Store. I am a student so I am going to use it for productivity and organization. Also, apps I have bought on my hox, can I transfer them to a android tablet? Do you know any good app for docs and presentations which is both available on andr. and IOS?
Samsung wins hands down in every category except weight. Faster processor, more RAM, better screen resolution, expandable memory, better camera (front and back), to name a few. I have the Note 2014 and absolutely love it.
Dude, don't you think it is way better to compare them in real, user experiences point of view? not just talking specs, it is irrelevant to user experience.....
You will notice a big difference between the screens of the iPad Mini and the iPad Mini with retina display. One reason is that there are lots of iOS apps that have been redesigned for that display, and another is that pixel density change is quite big, from 163ppi to 326ppi. The higher you get the less difference it makes eg. 500ppi vs 400ppi isn't very distinguishable.
***** I agree on that one. Still I would never, never buy a Android tablet. It would be the last thing what I'd do. I own Galaxy S4 and I like it very much, but definitely iPad is the best tablet. Benchmarks are the same, but iPad is a very high quality built and smooth. Samsungs are slow and laggy on OS. You really can't see it on phone, but when you go to sizes like 10.1, you see all the lag clearly. All the Samsung's updates are just making the device even slower.
.FRIENDS. actually i have Samsung galaxy S3 & and iPad 2&4. android as phone platform is better, easy-to-use and user-friendly. while iPhone is complicated (only in the beginning!) ..... as tablet i will never think of andriod-platform ever! before i buy my iPad 4, i was confused between galaxy note 10.1 and iPad. i do have iPad 2 and i really satisfied with it, but instead , i want to try something new. borrowed galaxy note from my friend for several-hours and i like the smoothness( i am fan of flat design!).....but....THE PLAY STORE!!! i really hate that store. i don't mean it crap, but when compared to Appstore it's really don't worth compare. when you enter Appstore home page on ipad you will be INSPIRED. speaking of the design, the homepage is divided into several parts, the slider (with featured apps), new-apps section(fresh apps!), new-games, another small slider, part,part,part.....all featured.THIS is the only homepage.let's don't forget FREE app every week(was paid but set free for one week period). you can also enter into category and find design similar to that of the home page but specified for category! ======== don't forget the professional design of apps, HUGE library of game, apps ONLY found on appstore. AND MORE!!! ======== the only disadvantage of this is you have to pay to get the app that deserve(which samsung users hate!) if you want there is JAILBREAK which can fix many thing, add new features to your tablet(found in cydia libraries), and get the paid apps FREE. ==== i don't mean playstore doesn't worth. but, appstore is much much better. ASK WHO TEST THEM BOTH!. === and don't forget that samsung after long-while will update your android to newer version, while apple still support iPad 2 in its IOS7 and incoming IOS8!!!!
Apple always perfects the features they put in their products, unlike android where they just throw a crap load of features in and the os becomes lagy due to the imperfection of the features.
Those both tablets have great specs. They are good enough for specs to be issue. The best way to decide is to look to your personal preference. Don't use specs to decide - that's just the way how to decide incorrectly.
I bought the ipad air in November and I must say that it was pretty boring after a while down to the limitations. I have now sold it and bought the Samsung galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition and it is fantastic . I am absolutely delighted with it, there is so much more that you can do with no limitations and no lag whatsoever . I would strongly suggest that if you where to buy one of the two it must be the Samsung galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition unless you want to feel bored and limited. I have also bought a 64gb micro sd card for it which now gives it 80gb of memory this in its self is a no brainer.
The 10.1 and Air both are $599, the 16GB 10.1 is a bit more expensive than the air's. Android users get better specs at 32GB than Apple's users. Who the F would pay $599 or $499 for dual-core 1.3 GHz, no LED, and who the F cares so much if it is lighter? Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2013 Edition) FTW
Very nice video Saf..Today i ve gone to see these devices and i can't understand all this conversation about build quality.Even though samsung uses plastic, the device feels really compact and premium, plus the tons of features that gives to you .On the other hand apple offers less (except the somehow better build quality) and asks for more and always set you limits.Consider that this opinion comes from an "apple guy",believe it or not.Keep up the good work, greetings from Greece.(sorry for my bad english).
I've had the Note 10.1 2014 for almost 2 weeks and haven't had any of the problems these Apple fanboys are talking about. I use multiwindow and pen window while taking notes and looking at my textbooks at school, all on the same screen, at the same time. Works great! Samsung blew Apple out of the water this year! Apple has just lost their innovative edge.
You know the Samsung 2014 edition is much better and worth the money. Apple always does the same thing with their products, they include a couple of higher specs and expect people to be satisfied.
great vid mate, i will be queuing up for the air pad, size and 64bit appeal to me, first mac item i will own, for my photography PP i would get the wacom which has the best pen type feature.
If benchmarks of these two devices was compared as horsepower on cars, they would be almost the same. We are comparing two Bugatti Veyrons here, just different looks and feels.
If you looking for a good android tablet go with the Nexus line because at least they make their products out of better quality plastic and they are the first to get the updates.
I can use the front and rear camera at the same time and shoot video straight to the SD memory card on the Samsung device. The 1080p video at 60 fps is simply smooth and must be seen to believe because RUclips can only upload 1080p video at 30 fps
Combine the build quality, the weight, the quality of the display with the worlds best mobile apps by a long shot, add to that the battery life and the power of the A7 chip, and you've got the best tablet experience out there.
I like the apple products. I brought the iPod in 2007, the iPhone 3Gs in 2010, this iPad 1st generation in 2010 and iPad 3rd Generation in 2012 and then I brought the iPhone 5 in February 2013. I like the IOS system and the
With the Note 10.1 it has expandable memory which will help you add lots more apps for your buck. Optimized apps mean nothing again because the most important app people use everyday are available in the android market. I'm not a geek but I'm all for the Note 10.1 all day.
I just bought the Galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition. Great tablet, a bit sluggish every now and then. I almost bought the ipad air but decided not to because of the issues I had trying to move files from my pc to an apple product. Screw itunes, screw file conversions. Most people own PCs so it would only benefit Apple to make syncing PCs to apple computers more fluid. The A7 processor is optimized very well and it is very fast even with only 1 GB ram clocked at 1.4 GHZ. At the same time, Apple wants to charge you $100 for each upgrade in storage space where as on the samsung, you can buy a 32GB sd chip for $30 and stick it in your 16GB tablet for a total of 48GB. I payed $519 for my samsung 10.1 2014 edition and I already had a 32GB chip. In my opinion, the samsung is an obvious choice for cost minded pc users. If there was a tablet out there that was 8 inches, high resolution screen, and an sd slot running the snapdragon 800 that's what I would've chosen.
Nice review, but there should have been less specs and more hand in hand showing of the fundamentally different products. One advocates complexity, the other space-age simplicity. But in the hand how do they feel? Wide-screen vs 4:3? Maybe raw specs do not mean that much if you disagree with a fundamental design question like operating system or layout. That being said, it would be more prudent to compare the advances of Samsung over the advances of Apple, and then only after that compare the two products specs. I mean which company did better, and why? Not just raw specs on ppi and stuff.
hey can you do a video doing a samsung - galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition vs kindle fire hdx don't know wich one to byr for my lil girl maby you can help me ?
I use both tablets, and while I think the Note 10.1 2014 edition is better in almost every way, particularly in versatility, the iPad doesn't suffer from S lag that gets introduced with TouchWiz. The lag can be corrected with another launcher and custom Rom. When all is said and done, the Note 10.1 2014 edition is unlike anything on the market. It's awesome, and well worth the price simply because of the screen, S-Pen, and multitasking. I believe that the lag gets a bit overstated. It's there, for sure, thanks to TouchWiz, but it's minor.
I love new tech and this note is the first tablet that really challenges the ipad. Personally I think the note packs more punch but really it just comes down to personal preference.
I don't know anyone that uses thousands of apps. 1 gig of ram can not run loads of apps as smoothly as 3 gigs of ram can and how many app do you think your going to add to any tablet tablet with 16 gig of storage. You lot need to do your research
Ipad wins. The screen aspect ratio is just better for web and books. That plus the fact that third party apps are all available for ipad. It's a shame though, if Samsung had better developer support I would take their tablets more seriously
I just left best buy intending on buying the new ipad air (sold my ipad 4 on craigslist). The only difference I could see is the thinner and lighter form factor & weight. Which is great I guess, but I could careless either way if it weighed 1.5lbs vs 1lbs. The screen is exactly the same, the performance felt exactly the same, I was actually pretty disappointed in the product. I ended up leaving with the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014. This thing is miles ahead of the ipad. Expandable memory, GPS, etc...
The people who buy one product or another shouldn't factor in to your decision to buy, nor should their reasons, because either group has a solid argument. You've got mainstream Apple product casual (and some power) users and then you've got hipster Android lovers (with more power users). Apple has a lot to offer and a lot of built in benefits like device syncing and an overloaded app bank, while the Samsung appears to have simply built a more advanced device.
I would have prefered to watch a video comparative of performance between both tablets... for read numbers I could have visited oficial page of samsung or apple...
I bought an IPad air 1 week ago and I have to say that I am really impresed. The only big diffrence I see betwen iOS and Android is that the applications on iOS doesn't force close so often like the Android ones. I am not trying to say that Android is a bad system is an excelent one , both systems are and both have their + , but for the moment I prefer and get enjoyed by the IPad Air.
Good video friend. Man ipad haven't changed at all only a new cpu and the wifi, Apple is losing innovation. I have the note 8 and is perfect I'm thinking of getting the note 10.1
iPad air won't disappoint costumers, unlike Samsung who only relies on marketing features. But when looking further into the specs you realize they are branded for sale. It's clearly visible for megapixel hype. Every brand who market you megapixels is to avoid like cancer. Since when mp make quality pictures ? Also the Samsung boxes with every possible features they can think of on it. On the other end, Apple doesn't throw specs at you, they give thought-out and quality products over junk.
What I don't get ios how you could downplay the 64-bit desktop-class architecture of the A7 chip of the iPad Air. The iPad slams the Samsung in most benchmarks because of this...
I'm getting the note 10.1 2014 edition, it's a million times better than ipad air Apple should really revise on their next tablet as Android tablets are definitely dominating them at the moment I am speaking from experience as I have an ipad 4
64 bit is just a gimick. The note is all about note capabilities. I'd like to see your iPad run two apps on the screen at the same time and have a third app on the top of both of them.
The specs are nothing, see them in person and the iPad's screen is nicer. The pixel density difference isn't noticeable, but the colour rendering and brightness on the iPad really stand out. The fake leather is better than the old plastic, but it still feels cheap and fake. Multi-tasking and the S Pen are great, but if you're going for productivity get a Windows tablet.
i have both the 10.1 note 2014 and the Ipad air. I like them both but use the note for business and the air for my kids, even though they take the note from me because there are more great games for free and they have a budget. I feel if i had to buy a second one, which i am going too, it's the note. I am picking it up this week. I have been an apple guy for over 25 years and feel that they are letting me down. But there products are better looking i feel, except for the HTC one. thx.

Whats up saf. I have the last, 10.1. This was better, than the last iPad. The new, one for me is the best tab out.
Thank you sir for being very balanced and civil about the tablet comparison. Great video comparison of these 2 technologies. Found this very useful.
Good video and. Beautiful detail about both tablet. Simply the best Supersaft. Looking forward for more videos.
Thank you for a very informative video. I always enjoy your video's.
spot on mate, all your comments are true, sometimes it's really difficult arguing with people who don't know what they're talking about
pretty neat comparison
Really good work there Saf :D
am shocked at what samsung has beat apple in the hardware
i was gaga-ing for the iPad air but this will make me think things through again

Good comparison. Good presentation.
Great review!
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) is by far the best tablet on the market! I use it everyday for taking notes and scrapbooking, I have no regrets on owning it!
Many thanks for this presentation.
That was a great insight. I am already sold on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. It's worth all the money. Thanks.
Great comparison
boy that is some speed man. but well done. I was going for ipad air. not sure which one to go for now. you wouldn't go wrong with either one anyway
Bought my Air today and don't regret it one bit!
Great spec comparison dude @supersaf as you say it's absolutely down to personal preference. I think iPad Air is very classy and stylish with great software but I am going for samsung note as it's more customisable and larger screen among other things that appeal to me. Thanks again for the vid
Hey bro I like ur vids what do use for ur filming
Good to know. Ive been wondering if the increase in ppi in the retina mini model really makes much of a difference.
The funny thing about all the comments is that none have squat to do with this video. He is not telling you what to buy. He is just informing and educating you on the specs of each tablet individually. He also left it clear that each choice depends on what the hell you want your tablet to do. Just that simple!! If you are a person that likes or needs to multi-task than the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 is good for you, but if you want a more luxurious look and light feel to your full size tablet, then the Ipad Air is the right one for you.
well said pretty lady
Good side by side hardware feature comparison. Would be nice to see both tablets in action. Overall, very good review.
All their website says about the "facetime camera" is that it is HD. 720p is a form of HD...
Hi Saf! I really like your videos and your truly awesome, you deserve many many more subs. One question I have is if buying the Nexus 7 a good investment. No, an iPad Air does not suck. Just because it doesn't have "top end specs" does not make it a bad tablet. It's a very good tablet
R.I.P Samsung user, you will never get appstore like apple one
No one need appstore cause they have Play Store. it is the best phone store ever!
Actually it's not :p

Can u do a comparison on the galaxy tab 8.4 pro with other tablets???
I "iPad Air 5 vs Galaxy Note 10.1" and thought they would've been in the video. Guess not.
I just bought the Galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition. Great tablet, a bit sluggish every now and then. No, it doesn't matter at all, it just maters with which is better, that why is VS
I totally agree with you... many of the apps on there tablets aren't even compatible :l
They kept the front facing camera 720p because the screen can't show 1080p resolution!
Comparing these two is just like comparing apple and orange
Nice review, but there should have been less specs and more hand in hand showing of the fundamentally different products. One advocates complexity, the other space-age simplicity. Galaxy Note 10.1 most advanced premium tablet out there.

Pls post about the LG g2
I love new tech and this note is the first tablet that really challenges the ipad. Personally I think the note packs more punch but really it just comes down to personal preference.
Galaxy Note 10.1 = Koenigsegg CCXR Carbon Fibre Edition only 4 in the world
iPad Air = Toyota Corolla
Are you saying that Toyota Corolla is faster than Koenigsegg CCXR?
hahaha corolla 120mph ccxr 247mph \
SpaceGamGardens
who give a fuck?
not you bitch go away
RAM is only in use when an app is open. you can have as much content as you want and just 1g of RAM, just don't open everything at once!
Samsung beats apple at everything but I just always like the apple products because of the design
so basically people will be using pixelated apps on the note because apps are not optimized for the screen?
The people who buy one product or another shouldn't factor in to your decision to buy, nor should their reasons, because either group has a solid argument. You've got mainstream Apple product casual (and some power) users and then you've got hipster Android lovers (with more power users). Apple has a lot to offer and a lot of built in benefits like device syncing and an overloaded app bank, while the Samsung appears to have simply built a more advanced device.
I would have prefered to watch a video comparative of performance between both tablets... for read numbers I could have visited oficial page of samsung or apple...
Is the note 10.1 the same as the note 3 I mean that same features???
I bought an IPad air 1 week ago and I have to say that I am really impresed. The only big diffrence I see betwen iOS and Android is that the applications on iOS doesn't force close so often like the Android ones. I am not trying to say that Android is a bad system is an excelent one , both systems are and both have their + , but for the moment I prefer and get enjoyed by the IPad Air.
Definitely picking up the note 10.1
Who the heck would buy the Samsung. What a weird world we live in .
What I don't get ios how you could downplay the 64-bit desktop-class architecture of the A7 chip of the iPad Air. The iPad slams the Samsung in most benchmarks because of this...
I'm getting the note 10.1 2014 edition, it's a million times better than ipad air
Apple should really revise on their next tablet as Android tablets are definitely dominating them at the moment
I am speaking from experience as I have an ipad 4
64 bit is just a gimick. The note is all about note capabilities. I'd like to see your iPad run two apps on the screen at the same time and have a third app on the top of both of them.
I love to say this but the ipad airs pixel density is actually 326 ppi not 264 ppi!
not true
Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 edition) is the best! :D
I'm watching this video on my new note 2 this is an awesome phone i will recommend it and note 10 .1 2000 14 edition is also and an awesome tab
I'll take the note. Finally samsung has made a tablet that is better than ipad
I prefer a no lag tablet with optimized tablet apps so I pick iPad Air.
I have the iPad Air and I love it.
iPad because all my music are done by there and Garage Band is now for free :)
i have both the 10.1 note 2014 and the Ipad air. But there products are better looking i feel, except for the HTC one. thx.
You spelt aluminium wrong...
because?
