I've noticed that when you deflect and get a kill with an ultimate, the kill feed is bugged and will show the deflect icon with the ultimate effect behind it, instead of whatever ultimate you deflected.
Been a Genji main since day one, and over the years he's been directly or indirectly screwed over so many times I'm watching a guide when previously I felt it was unnecessary. It feels like Genji's gotten to the point where the amount of effort needed to make him work isn't worth it when you can just pick someone else and get the same value or more for less work or pain. I appreciate you making this video, cuz he just isnt the same anymore. Despite having no reworks he's the only character that's been nerfed so much he needs updated guides. He's always cool af to watch when he's popping off but the amount of boosts needed to get him there is a far cry from what he once was. Lore accurate Genji is a dream, in game Genji is a nightmare. But I will still keep playing him, because no matter how much he's struggling, he's still fun. But hey one thing I did learn from this video is that you can deflect Illari pylon heals lol

Burst damage is too inconsistent, and doesn't have proper tools to be a good duelist. If you don't land a headshot, the enemy needs to make mistake/have an ability missing/or just generally be weaker, otherwise Genji probably loses in most cases. He's not terrible just not that good IMO.

I always struggle with farming blade fast enough any tips (p2), my Ana’s generally get nano 1.7x faster than me. I normally play assassin like and get kills but not a lot of dmg
Sometimes while taking off angles u can go for chunky dashes to build ult quick. Obviously do it when u see that the endpoint of ur dash is safe and close to ur team so that ur not feeding

It's hard to explain simply over commenting but if u see like people spamming a tight choke, you can head over there for a second and deny the damage with will also get u a lot of ult. for example something like seeing a bap window, and making sure u have deflect, this is like almost a guaranteed way to get shot at for the deflect or if u see a hog hook a teammate, u can dash in front and deflect his shot since some people may also try and follow up.
Also, Ana can build nano pretty fast and Genji does have lower inconsistent damage, so don't be surprised if she often builds it faster than you. Supports in general tend to build ult super fast.

Incredible tips, however you missed a couple things that should be noted 1) DON'T just fan before blade. Always fan-melee before blade, its an extra 40 dmg just for free and it will animation cancel 2) Be confident, if you go in for a dive and think that you won't win, chances are that you won't because you're so anxious, be more confident in yourself 3) Be ready for shitty blades, you can't always get 4-5ks, and most genjis' have to realize is that getting 1-2 picks with blade and getting our alive can SWAY the team fight in your favor 4) Get in the mentality of other players, (PS: This will mostly come with playtime) This is incredibly useful in just about any situation, whether it be deflecting ults, diving backlines, deflecting sleeps, or baiting out abilities, you can predict what will come next and YOU have the power to respond
New player here, I have no idea why someone would pick genji apart from the fact he looks cool. Venture just feels like they can do genji's job but be less squishy and more reliable. I've played 9 matches with him, and constantly underperformed and had zero fun. I feel like the blade fan cant do any damage past 5 meters, or to any damage to characters with a smaller hitbox. His blade dash doing next to no damage doesn't help either. I know your supposed to combo things but it seems like too much effort to get such little results. I give up with this character.
Very useful, still some people don't understand Genji's purpose of making space, killing low HP players, flanking, etc. Teammates easily can start complain about his little dmg numbers, and I guess wanna see him dealing useless damage to the enemy tank in frontline, lol.
Anyone else think moira need a nerf? (Healing herself with ball damaging people with ball,taking hp from opponents INSANE range along with escape tool that gives invincibility for a bit) Also genji needs his old blade back and buffed so you can slash dash I hate the new blade

Usually when you are in close range you press right click right before the dash, then can finish the kill with a 180 rightclick melee combo. If they are further away (~15m) then you can do the dash->right click melee combo (coming from an ow1 start of 2 gm genji main, so idk with the health chances if those are still the most effective ways to kill) Edit: you can also leftclick then dash if they are not moving targets like widow, less chances to fuck up the long distance combo if you're still learning it.
@@hammadalhinai9575 since ur up close u right click a little after for the adjustment i would say. but most of the time it would be better to do the basic combo of fan/left click if ur that close
honestly if u can I would try not to but IF you are forced to, since it literally doesn't matter if u strafe or not against her, if ur in a pure 1v1, u could stand still and focus on landing ur shots. usually i only commit on moira if ik she has no fade or caught off guard
I want to add to this. You can deflect her Orbs. Like he said, since strafing does nothing against her, I'd suggest getting within melee distance cuz it also makes landing a headshot easier. Make sure you have a high ground to escape to, her fade without map obstacles has no verticality. Other than that, poke at her from outside her suck range with primary. If she uses her heal orb instead of damage, and you can't deflect it, run. It's possible to kill her, but you'd have to play it perfectly and burst her down, in most cases that's not gonna happen so its better to retreat while you can.
I thought I had this issue as well until I realized it only happened when he was using his ultimate on multiple people. Reaper’s passive gives him HP for dealing damage hence why he isn’t dying when there are multiple people taking damage even if you’re aiming directly at him since he’s healing more than you’re damaging him, hope this helps.

The devs have removed all the high dopamine moments from Genji. No more one shot dash combo and no more big blades. I want OW1 back.

make sure u are looking at the reaper and that he not behind u or anything
I believe he has AOE and its not just shots coming out of his body - so the AOE will hurt you a bit even if you deflect the actual shots.
