Throughout the film, symbolized by the various dance routines, is the problem of a failure of communication between men and women, never understanding each other or their wants/needs properly. Finally in the end, the final dance symbolizes them meeting each other eye-to-eye (matching their eye contact as he looks at her in the audience), right as Marco and Alicia meet again by chance and it is indeed implied they will get together.
