Haha, yes, I though I'd give it that twist and show off different sounds used in the song (clean, solo, rhythm), but if I'd make it too long that would carry off the connection with the song, I guess. I dunno, I think i was just affraid not to overdo it.
RobarMusic I completely understand your thoughts on that matter. Surely there are enough people out there who would dislike this feature. But isn't a cover about showing how a band/guitarist/drummer/... plays a song instead of just showing the song with a little overdubbing? I mean I really like your overdubs (especially in the nothing more cover since I always thought that in the original song the guitars get too few attention) but the important part here is you and how you play the song.
W1ese1 Well, you are right. For me, it's about showing the parts AND being my "portfolio" and personal challenge:)
I make sure to turn up the volume of my guitar, so you still have the song on the background to make a good context of my playing. It would be a bit silly to post it without overdubbing, hehe.

I've been playing guitar for 11 years and I used to push technical side of playing for the most of that time. I don't practice regularly anymore and I don't feel like I have to as I do not play music like this on a daily basis. Thanks for my trained ear I'm able to figure out songs by ear quite fast, it takes a bit more to practice it though so I can play the whole song from the start to the end without a mistake. It usually takes me about a week with 1-2 hour practice every day before I feel comfortable to record a new video. But it depends on the complexity, some of the videos I have on RUclips were recorded on the same day I transcribed the song:)
These days I invest my time into creative side of things - composing, arranging, mixing etc.
would u do a heartist cover? they are a great band with some cool guitar parts.
Do you play through an amp or PA speakers when you aren't recording? Could only imagine how awesome is sounds like that.

This solo, plus the solos intro, has me stumped. Any chance you could vary from your norm and do a tutorial? This is probably the best played cover of this song, however I still cannot get it down.
Also, i slowed down the tempo of this song, and the complexity even at minor speeds is just outright incredible!

I guess...guitar solos in their songs are just...too much to handle, that's probably why!
I've also noticed that they never really promoted themselves very much; hardly any of my friends even know who they are which is a shame, really.
Oh, and one more thing, if you feel like covering something a bit heavier, might I suggest some Red I Flight? They only did one album that I know of seven years ago or so, but they were quite good and they had a lot of catchy guitarwork.
my only issue is that you are not louder in the mix. but dude you nail it!

Awesome song - question though, what do you use or do when you switch from cleans to distortion?
Most of times I have POD on the floor and I switch the tone manually by pushing the knob. However, in some cases it's hard to be an octopus, so I programm tone switching by MIDI.
I guess you can notice moments in the video when I switch the tone, even though I place my foot on the knob beforehead so I don't miss it :)
Check out 0:15 - 0:16 and 0:45 - 0:46, those are the moments when I move my leg towards the knob to be able to push it on time.

I have to ask, did you ever have a problem with the volume knob on your guitar?
I recently got the red horizon fr with the emg's and I'm loving it, but I can't get used to such a close knob and I turn it down often by accident.
Thanks man! Haha, well..if you watch my videos attentive enough you can notice that I touch the volume knob way too many times. This is my old habit, and it doesn't bother me at all! Ignorance is bliss ;)
