    Good afternoon and God Bless you and your Family.
    Thank you for this Video ... very helpful. I recently bought 2 Baofeng BF-18H Handhelds; 1 from Ebay and the other from AliExpress. The AliExpress BF-18H has GPS and Airband Frequency option. I paid less than the Ebay-Seller's BF-18H. Earlier today, I changed the VOICE via the VOICE PACK EDITOR found in the 'tools" kick down Column.
    They have @ 5 different Voices to choose from. I chose the Crystal-Voice Prompts The SoX Audio Converter needs to be Installed for Voice changes.
    The model selection that works for this BF-18H is the "UV-18 Pro."
    In closing, I also Uploaded a Custom Power-ON photo to my BF-18H with the Software you used in this Video.
    Thank you Sir very much.

    Beidou is the Chinese GPS system. Enabling both Beidou and GPS gives you access to more satellites and should increase GPS accuracy and reliability.

    CONNECTOR NOTE: Using a 'real' Baofeng programming cable I picked up a few years back, when the UV-5R was getting popular, I had to use a razor knife and slightly relieve the clearance on the plug. Near the smaller connector, in the "90 degree" space near where the cable enters the connector. It was just a bit too round and would prevent proper connection. VERY small trim, make it square - just enough so that when you look at the connector plugged into the radio from the front of the radio, it all looks square. If there's an angle to the connector, relative to the radio, it'll likely not connect up correctly.

      No you cant unfortunatly. UNLESS you set the B channel to the same as the A channel then set the B channel to display the frequency :)

    Thank you for the video. If is really is a Tri-Band radio and has some power out on 220 band that would be great. I noted that at the top of the screen it showed the radio set from 136 to 174 MHz. Your 128 MHz was out of band to the software for transmitting maybe? Any way you could make it a receive only freq. ? I’m ordering this radio today to replace a UV-5R.

    Downloaded the CPS and have tried 4 cables, but I get a failure to read every time. On the radio screen, it shows it is reading. Tried windows 8, 10 & 11 all with the same outcome. Tried trimming the sides of the cables so it seats correctly, tried using a straight plug, both OEM and aftermarket. And yes I have the correct drivers for all the cables since they work with other radios. Any thoughts?

    • @ham-fam

      Mine did this so I reset the radio in the radio menu. Later I worked out it does this when I have a channel set to an air band frequency and try to read the radio into the CPS

    My radio is the BF 18 L I download the CPS software I hooked up the radio to my computer like I did with my other baofeng’s, but it still says failure and I’ve tried four different cables. Every cable works on the baofeng UV five ours, but not the baofeng 18 L can anybody help me as to why this is?

  • @jpcmt1721
    @jpcmt1721 7 месяцев назад

    That CPS download does not change languages when selected. But worse, it won't read my radio, even after resetting it. I wish there was any kind of manual because I have a useless radio that I can't use because I can't program it manually even. Frustrating. My guess from years with the uv5rs is it's a firmware issue. Mine is V0.09 and hardware is V01. I've tried 3 different CPS's between mlkor and yours on two different computers confirming data cable driver accuracy, etc. it starts reading on the device and shows the connection icon, but no traffic and a failure notice.

    It's a really bright summer day here. I took the radio outside and I couldn't really see the display. I used my body as shade and even then it was hard for me to see. That's a real problem for a radio that is used outside most of its life?

      I have the UV-18 i Black, not the Pro (no GPS), and the software in the new link above and the one that @ham-fam graciously linked does not work with my radio. It will perform the handshake (that is, it sets the radio temporarily into "connected to computer" mode), but it cannot seem to read the data from the radio even though I have programmed several channels manually, so I know there are data to be read.
