The gas tax in Louisiana has not increased since 1989 and is .20/gal. It is not a percentage rate and therefore does not track inflation. Louisiana is far behind on transportation infrastructure maintenance and construction and to suspend the gas tax at all would be mistake. We need more gas tax, not less. A knee-jerk response to what is certainly a temporary gas hike is in no one’s best interest. Louisiana’s funding of highways is already dismal due underfunding, let’s no make it worse. Thank you,
