    Thank you. We just need more people demoing active pickups who know how to do something other than chugging.

    Another big advantage of active pick-ups (or an active preamp in the guitar) is that they always output a buffered signal. That means you can remove a buffer at the front of your pedalboard and/or not worry about losing tone through long cables.

    I’ve had EMG’s in my ‘72 Telecaster since 1987 and they are still going strong. I have 6 of my 12 electrics loaded with actives. Kinda wish all of them where equipped with them. 3 sets of EMG’s and my 3 other sets are from GFS (Guitarfetish). The GFS pickups are more than half the cost and are just as good as the latter. GFS electronics are ok but not as good as EMG’s but work just fine. I play mainly country & blues. Looking forward to purchase the Fishman Fluence for one of my Telecasters someday…
    Great video guys! Thank you 😊

    I use EMG pickups in Telecasters and Stats as well as LPs and SuperStrats. They sound great in everything and can be used to play anything. I get that some folks don't like batteries, but there are so many advantages.

    Great demo for jazz, blues, classic rock... outside of metal. I like just with the volume pot the sound can be also very dynamic, wide frequency, versatile and virtually no noise. Great on the stage and studio, what else can be asked for ? Also no worries if you go with rechargeable lithium batteries they really last long. Thanks very helpful video !

    I remember our second guitar player back at school doing blues licks on his active ESP / LTD Les Paul, and it sounded like a regular Les Paul.

    Great runthrough. Although, as an engineer, it's important to note the pickups do NOT compress. Theydo filter, and may well push the amp to compress, though.

    I don't get all the hate for actives.
    I love not being the ground too and not getting shocked and not hearing all the noise. They just sound great and the volume and tone controls actually work...
    I'm playing a strat with three EMG SAs and love them. I also have a strat with an 85 b and 60 n and love them. ❤

    It's not about the tone but the feel. Active Pickups to me seem less touch sensitive and compressed compared to Passives. Any help with that?

  • @valueofnothing2487
    @valueofnothing2487 2 года назад +1

    Well, without hearing a comparison, I think it is impossible to say if these pickups sound different than others. They do sound good, though.

    For the first time in the whole "All the sounds with a ..." - series I'm not really completely convinced. But hey - then I just go and don't play active pus and everything's fine, right?
    As always, great and interesting video with the right amount of fun, too!

      Thanks Thomas! Our new (and amazing) studio is still not 100% finished. Some acoustic elements are missing and it's a biiiig room. That's what you're hearing and don't worry, we will take care of the "lively reverb" of the room very soon. :) //Kris

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  2 года назад +2

      Hi buddy, that's awesome to hear. :) Yeah fuzzes can be tricky because of the 25k pots of active guitars. There are quite a few more modern fuzzes though with a built-in "pickup simulator". Those fuzzes can be anywhere in the signal chain and those will work perfectly with active pickups too. Cheers //Kris

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  2 года назад +4

      Hey man, thanks for the comment! It's not that much about simulating other pickups when playing music, is it? The question was if you can play different styles and sound good with active pickups. And my conclusion here is a big yes. :) Cheers //Kris

      Considering the technology fishman uses, they could in fact create a p90 modeled sound into the pickup. But they usually only do that process for signature pickups.
