I was privileged to see Sam and Carrie play a gig at a church in Surrey a few years ago,it will be with me always. Best concert I have ever been to. Sitting on the pews and listening, it was just magical.
I heard him on "Fresh Air." Had never heard of him before. His story and my own chronic brushes with death (Multiple Myeloma 3 times.) makes me relate to him. My wife bought me all 4 of his CDs. Can't stop listening. He just does it and makes it work and throws conventionality of every kind to the wind. One of the most inspiring and interesting artists I have heard in many years! God Bless you Sam.
Just heard him on "Fresh Air" today [1/26/18], apparently a re-broadcast. My first exposure. They were playing " Go In Peace" as I pulled into the parking lot at work. I sat and cried, so simple and so beautiful. Heard the rebroadcast on the way home and heard Angels. Now I want his albums.
I heard him on Fresh Air with Terri Gross, his story is amazing, as is his storytelling ability in his songs! If you missed it, check it out - it brought tears to my eyes
He's a really charming and happy person despite these rather dark songs. I saw him in a small concert this week and it was simply one of the best concerts I have seen in my 50-odd years on the planet. He is affected very deeply by the bomb and in particular seeing the young German tourists die a most awful death. The images of this has haunted him. It's a very profound experience listening to Sam especially if the music touches you. It won't click with everyone though.
This body of work, works for you or it doesn't, but don't be cruel. I love his story and what he has done with it. I lost my son 3 years ago this month and his music really resonates with me :)
I\Sometimes I have to step back and away from Sam's savant-like talent and recognize that the the violinist is extraordinary in his own right. Synergy makes great things happen.
This is horribly awesome. Everything you think shouldn't work about this song works when you stop trying to MAKE it fit a notion of what a song should have a structure and just LISTEN. His voice, the signature, everything about it shouldn't...but it does. Perhaps we need to start rejecting the radio and re-embrace the music as a vehicle for the writing and let the chips fall where they may. Just my .02.
Call Amen,Call a Truce,You call a War,Everyone is a Bastard, Everyone is a Whore, Everyone is a Saint, Everyone is Redeemed, Everyone is at The Mercy of another One's Dream, That is The Republicans view of each other as They chase They're Dream of being President during The Primary. Sam saw into The Future, He is a Prophet.
Sam writes poems set to music, he recites as much as he sings. He is an original in the tradition of Van Zant, Clark, Newbury, Nelson, Lovett, Earle, Gilkyson, Griffith. Think of early McMurtry (writer of The Last Picture Show) and you get the idea. We are all angels, fallen or otherwise.
Angels Angels flutter around her heart Love can heal they softly call When trouble comes to the ones she loves Her angels come They ease all suffering They heal all pain Her angels come like healing rain Love and angels conquer all Like rain her healing angels fall Love and angels conquer all Her healing angels softly call Amen Call a truce Call a war Everyone is a bastard Everyone is a whore Everyone is a saint Everyone is redeemed Everyone is at the mercy of another one’s dream She ease their suffering Heals all pain Her angels come like healing rain Love and angels conquer all Like rain her healing angels fall Love and angels conquer all Her healing angels softly call Amen Late at night when dreams are kings And I get nervous about what dark brings I call her name she holds me tight She whispers everything’s all right She ease their suffering Heals all pain Her angels come like healing rain Love and angels conquer all Like rain her healing angels fall Love and angels conquer all Her healing angels softly call Amen Call a truce Call a war Everyone is a bastard Everyone is a whore Everyone is a saint And everyone is redeemed Everyone is at the mercy of another one’s dream
Would you have dis..owned Jesus when he used his spit to heal a blind mans eyes...I DON'T do religion but I believe this to be true...at the end of the day ..its about who the spit is coming from and their intentions...is their spit ment in venom or like a swear word...how is it intended ..is it ment to harm..see you in a few more years ...? Maybe when you have ecperienced more of real life..all the best now...
This is just sublime. Thank you, Mr. Baker.

I just heard the re-air of that show for the first time yesterday (1/26/18). Driving around my city crying. So great and such emotion!
Unbelievably under rated talent, have seen him a few times and true gentleman and always willing to talk with his fans
hauntingly beautiful...pure genius

I got introduced to Sam Baker through listening Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2 aswell as other artists who get no airtime here in the UK.

I am so impressed - thank you Sam, for sharing your courage and beauty with us - I need it
just love Sam Baker
He’s not deaf blind and his fingers aren’t broken because he’s a angel:)
Water from a deeper well
Such raw genius...

Angels
Angels flutter around her heart
Love can heal they softly call
When trouble comes to the ones she loves
Her angels come
They ease all suffering
They heal all pain
Her angels come like healing rain
Love and angels conquer all
Like rain her healing angels fall
Love and angels conquer all
Her healing angels softly call
Amen
Call a truce
Call a war
Everyone is a bastard
Everyone is a whore
Everyone is a saint
Everyone is redeemed
Everyone is at the mercy of another one’s dream
She ease their suffering
Heals all pain
Her angels come like healing rain
Love and angels conquer all
Like rain her healing angels fall
Love and angels conquer all
Her healing angels softly call
Amen
Late at night when dreams are kings
And I get nervous about what dark brings
I call her name she holds me tight
She whispers everything’s all right
She ease their suffering
Heals all pain
Her angels come like healing rain
Love and angels conquer all
Like rain her healing angels fall
Love and angels conquer all
Her healing angels softly call
Amen
Call a truce
Call a war
Everyone is a bastard
Everyone is a whore
Everyone is a saint
And everyone is redeemed
Everyone is at the mercy of another one’s dream

Fresh air brought me here
He is so bad. Like..no tempo, no constant time signature, no melody...I love it.
If you knew anything about his injuries, you'd understand the miracle you just witnessed.
He sounds like George w. Bush
Nick He's from Texas
I quit watching after he spit on the floor.
