Awesome! You made an excellent video because it is clear and concise. Likewise, your explanation was excited, so I could not wait until the end. After watching this video, I understood exactly how to make my argument stronger. I appreciate your hard work and dedication.

Thank you so much for your video. It was as if you were just sitting here with me going over the information. My questions were answered too! Please do more videos. I think this help to clarify what a counterargument, refutation, an argument details in. Than you!
Jessica ~ Thank you so much for such a thoughtful comment. I am thrilled that this video helped you! I have just started to make videos again. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. 😃
Quick question for the counter argument to do you add some evidence and for the Rebuttal/Refutation you add more evidence to show your that your stance is better researched?
I believe what you are asking is if you need an example/evidence to back up your refutation. And the answer is yes. You can provide a specific example of why your stance is better and how it is stronger than the counter argument. I hope this clears it up. Best to you in your writing! Thank you for learning with us. 😃
Omgggg thank you so much, you’re the best teacher I’ve ever seen on yt.should I add evidence to the main argument or only the refutation in the counter argument is enough to provide the support details?
Question. My argument has strong background studies and logical opinion, it had hhmm maybe 500 words. While my counterargument has only 3 or 4 sentence, and it has a decent reasons. Should I make more reason to my counterargument side or it's ok to have only small but strong argument?
That is a fantastic question! It is hard for me to answer that not know the assignment or level class you are in. But I can tell you that when I taught advanced ESL writing ~ my students had only one paragraph for the counter argument. That paragraph was probably about 5 to 6 sentences. They had to have a strong counter argument and one to two specific reasons with examples. Their entire essay was then about 5 to 6 paragraphs including the counter argument paragraph. I hope this helps you 😃. Thank you so much for taking the time to learn with us!
@@WorldwideSpeak This is my essay : In the past, students did not expect education to turn into e-learning, but classroom learning is better at communicating course materials. Education Attendance in the classroom is better in delivering the study material, as well as activating the student’s mind when he wakes up and goes to school, and the discussion inside the class is important in the class’s fun and easy delivery of the material although electronic teaching also contains lectures, but it is difficult to deliver the material to the student, such as in the electronic lecture. The student can watch a video on RUclips while he is inside the lecture. Students can also enter the lecture and then return to sleep or to work. Finally, classroom instruction is better than e-learning to deliver the material, give the student the right to grade, and prevent cheating.
I want to ask something but it is not about argumentative essays. Our lecturer gave us an assignment and she wanted us to write an analysis on a ted talk, but I do not really know how to structure an analysis. Should I write like ''she said blah blah here and it shows..'' or should I just go on with my own opinions on that specific topic.
Since I do not know the specific assignment, it is hard for me to guide you. But, in general, if you are going to do an analysis, you will need to reference the text/video/document that has been assigned. Hope this helps!
@@WorldwideSpeak My topic is why community college should be free. For the counterargument, I need to read why college shouldn’t be free. How can I make the counterargument look week?
@@viankamontero5210 Think about why having to pay for community college is a good idea for one specific reason. Then show how paying for it, even though it is good in some aspect, really does not have as positive of an effect as making it free. Hope this helps!
Typically, we have our students begin by putting both in the SAME paragraph. This may change, though, as you progress in your academic career and write more complex papers. We have our students keep it to ONE paragraph. Hope this helps :).
I have a question I would be so happy if someone can answer. so here's the thing, my teacher has given homework about argumentative essays and she asked us to indicate the opposing arguments and counterarguments. What' the difference between them?
Great question! Sometimes people use different terms, which can be confusing. What is important to remember is this: After you have introduced your opinion and given your reason(s), you (may) want to introduce how the "other side" thinks about this topic. This "other side" is typically called the counterargument, but perhaps your teacher is calling it the "opposing argument". After you introduce the "other side", then you argue against that and show how it is a weaker stance. This is usually called the refutation. So you will find a "counterargument" (other side) and a "refutation" (why it is wrong/weak). Perhaps your teacher is using different terms like "opposing argument" for (the other side) and "counterargument" for (why it is wrong/weak). So, remember - you want 2 things (no matter what terms are being used): the other side and then why it is weaker than your opinion. I hope this helps :)
This is a great video, but I disagree that the purpose of argument is to persuade the reader to accept the author's opinion. In fact, this kind of conversion rarely happens. The purpose is to justify your claim with evidence and reasoning. The reader might not adopt your viewpoint, but if you do a good job, the reader will not be able to deny that your viewpoint is based on facts and logic rather than bias and wishful thinking. Bias and wishful thinking, by the way, can be very effective in "persuading" a reader to accept your viewpoint, but it would be considered a poor argument.
Keep us informed, one day people will get this, this is definitely a reminder. God knows your heart.
