That was a great video, nice close-ups and I never tire of the sounds of the crunching wood. Elaine from Canada here, I sure
appreciate the way you think things through, like sawing the off-cut just before the last of the log goes through, slowing & raising the conveyor for wood placement in the trailer etc. ..
Efficiency at it’s best. Well done Joe, enjoy the various tasks of loading the live deck, processing, stacking, and I hope you don’t get tired of filming, editing and submitting videos any time soon. Thanks for sharing the sights and sounds, and look at those fall colours surrounding you! What a great day to be out working!
agree...camera person did a great job!
Thanks so much for the nice post Elaine!
The sweet sound of a processor doing what it does best. Great video Joe! Thanks for all the great content!
You got it!
Another great filming job, Ms. Joe 👍 I appreciate that y'all don't have music playing in the background. Hometown Acres does a great job choosing their music, but some don't, & it's aggravating. 🥴 Love your videos!! 👍👍
Thanks Dianne!
Another great video, Joe. Brings a sense of order and normalcy.
Good morning Joe!!😀😀
I just love watching the 365 run. Along with the live deck it seems to be a fabulous combination.
Keep up the great work my friend!!
TTYL!!
Logger Al
It is a super rig for sure. Very fast and efficient!
Joe, the older you get the more valuable equipment becomes, stay Safe my friend 🚜🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
I agree how long is his back gonna hold out kids work
Indeed Larry! AND machines are a lot of fun to work!
Joe I could watch you videos all day. For someone who just started working in the corporate world, I can relate. I’ve got a long way ahead of me. I am really impressed how you’ve taken what you learned from your previous job and created value out of something you enjoy doing that doesn’t seem like a chore. In terms of volume, do you see yourself wanting to get bigger or are you happy with your the output you have now? Do you see your self wanting more equipment? You’ve really done a good job taking a lot of the physical labor out of this process. Keep up the good work!
Nice post. I know i can grow more specific to sales but my supply is killing me right now. Procurement is my big issue that I have yet to figure out. I think I need to grow more to be more comfortable with sustaining and maintaining this enterprise. I am still not there but not panicking.
I would love to see a disclaimer at the end as a hat tip to your excellent camera operator: "No videographers were harmed in the production of this video."
I really enjoy the production shows, Joe. Thanks!
LOL Thanks Chip.
ha!
More machine than I need but I still drool watching it work
I didn’t know a machine like this existed- very satisfying!
Good to see the Japa in full swing
Loved the sights and sounds of that Japa! Great way to start the day! -Brad
Thanks so much Brad!
Hey Joe, another great video. Love watching you work.👍
Awesome, thank you!
Hey, right back atcha.. Have a great day. Great to see someone with passion about their work.
Hey, thanks!
No messing Joe. Yes, you are 'on the money.' Single, older guy doing firewood needs a processor. However, some of your cohort, in the firewood business just don't see your wisdom. Good to see your pragmatic approach to such back-breaking work. Len (UK)
Thanks Len. There is a lot of old fashioned thinking in our industry. People don't like trying new ways.
Great video Joe. The color of your backyard is beautiful. Enjoy the weather !!
They are a turning for sure Harold. Much more today
Love that Japa, it’s an awesome piece of machinery! Stay safe, have a great day and may God bless…
Thanks, you too!
Love seeing the processor run. Now all you need is an extra person, to keep the log deck full.
Needs to get the Daughter trained up on the tractor!
@@MostlyOutdoors Or to run the processor.
My limiting factor is stacking. All I feel like doing in a day is about this much LOL
@@ohiowoodburner just wondering why you have a procesor and stack?
make a pile and load out.
never touching material.
that is my take on your setup.
Love my Japa 365 Pro Makes great firewood fast. Bob over at Metsa is a true professional. Highly recommend Bob and Metsa. The 471 live deck is also a game changer as is the tumbler. I got a power pack for the tumbler and use it for scooping up wood and cleaning it before delivery.
You are loaded for bear! Do you ever oil the chains on the 471? I started doing it but quit. Doesn't seem like it is necessary... maybe a few times a year?
@@ohiowoodburner Hi Joe. Yes I do oil them time to time. I just use used motor oil in a spray bottle. I agree, I don't think it is completely necessary but I do think it helps for the long term meaning the chain isn't completely rusted solid.
Joe, great video! I love seeing how much wood you have stacked up on that rack now!
It is certainly strong enough to hold more but it makes sending the next log challenging sometimes. A second log will fall into the rollers when you don't want it to.
Amazingly satisfying to watch as well. I think I have processor envy….
Thanks W2
Japa makes the best looking final product of any processor. Joe you have sold many on your U Tube channel
I have been told our videos have helped Japa sell a lot of 365s! Pretty exciting.
Thanks for the video Joe, neat watching the processer work. Now all you need is an automated stacker. Then you would really be having a great day.
SOmeone needs to invent an auto stacker for sure!
I did about 500 face cords and 5000+ bags of firewood this year and I'm currently behind 115 facecords... put my order in for the Black's Creek 2500 processor with 24 foot conveyer good for 24" wood 20 foot logs... January can't come soon enough
mite i ask were do you buy your bags?
that sounds like a great idea.
do you have them returned?
I asked Bob Nelson at Metsa Machines to take the log loader from my Japa 365 Pro as a trade in on the 422 rack. I harvested some black locusts from the fence row today because I have an abundance of the small trees and so I don't have to pay and wait for the log supply. It burns hotter than hickory.
I held onto my loader. I do see the day where I want to do a mobile job and could use it.
Looked like a great weather to be outside.. Raining this week for,me,in the Pacific NW.. I was able to get some splitting and stacking done even in the rain..😁👍
This was the only dry day of the week. Big rain ever since!
Nice efficient setup. I could feel fall in the air. Have a great day
winter is just around the corner Rhoades!
You have the perfect setup 👍 Very impressive machine . 👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
Id love to get a chance to run that setup. Great job
Enjoyable vid Joe, watching that nice piece of machinery being put to work. Came across another FIn built processor on line named Hakki Pilke. Their design looks similar to that of the Japa, maybe there is an association between the two companies. Have a great day.
There are three, Japa, Hakke Pilke, and Palax made by the same company. If you notice the Japa works from right to left. The other two work left to right.
Hahahaha Joe you had your game face on today...the cam person unintentionally or intentionally captured the beautiful fall foliage on your property 👍🎃
The leaves really changed a lot yesterday. I noticed them for the first time. If it would quit raining we could enjoy them LOL
Thats a cutting and splitting machine there. Great video Joe.
You got that right Chris! I love it!
Good morning from Lone Grove Oklahoma my friend! Have a Great day!
Thanks Brandon!
Thank you for another informative video. Andrew from Eastman splitters brought Gord and fellas on GP outdoors a proccessor to use for an afternoon.
I saw that. That machine is a beast for sure!
If you was just messing with us Joe please mess with us more. I love seeing the machines and you at work.
LOL You got it!
Nice job Joe very impressive. I thought I was big time when I switched from a maul to the hydraulic splitter lol. Take care, Ben. #ogaoutdoors
LOL I got my first splitter when I bought my first big chainsaw. I was then able to cut larger logs LOL
Great work by the camera person, would love to see routine maintenance on this set up i.e lubrication, cleaning, blade replacement, refuelling. Etc.
I think I can do that for you. I will put it on the list.
Joe hi, this is a great miracle harvester, we're still chopping wood by hand because it's very expensive
I gave up splitting wood by ax a number of years ago!
👍 Hmmmm…..would I like to be working in a fluorescent-lit cubicle?…..or outdoors on a beautiful fall day? A no-brainer! Thanks for sharing your day. 👍
Same! Thanks RG
how many cord have you run through the Japa this year? Also, does the saw seem to be limited by RPM or power? Would a square grind on a full house chain make it any faster?
The speed the saw arm comes down is adjustable and when you hear the engine bog is bc I have it turned up too fast for the beech. I just deal with it instead of dialing in the speed for each log. I usually don't run such a variety of species like I did in this run. I think I have made 60 cords with the Japa this year.
👍👍👍 very enjoyable to watch!
Another great video. Thanks, Joe
Thanks Dr Mautz!
Love the older videos too.
I love it. A time saver for sure.
Yes it is Don!
Joe, your combination with the Japa 365 and that live deck make it look easy! I really like your videos and demonstration . Do you know how many cords you processed since getting the 365? Nicely done!
Nice video! Even though you have explained the process before, I pick up little tidbits. Keep the good work up.
There is a benefit for me repeating on different vids giving the growth of the channel. Thanks for your comment!
Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I see you haven't yet got around to make a simple shute on the sawdust output to keep that side of the machine more tidy. That was a good workout today so enjoy a glass of Jameson as your reward!
Yes I'm with you lad ...nice fire feet up boots off and a Jameson 🥃
LOL I think I will! Some things I just can't get done sometimes. The chute is one of them
@@michaelengler5165 Hi Michael - Big Rodders here. I'm trying to lure Joe away from his Johnnie Walker to one of the finest products from the Emerald Isle. A double Jameson in one hand and a Guinness in the other, sitting in front of a turf (peat) fire is a wonderful way to spend the evening after a day's hard work.
@@rodneysweetnam8653 ahhh the peat
Have you done a video where you detail everything you would need if you wanted to start a business right from the beginning? Just the gear I mean. Like for example getting the japa, strong saw plus ppe, etc… also how essential the different items would be in your opinion, what you could get away with not having in the beginning verse “might be nice to haves“.
Making it look easy!
All I need is a recliner and a drink with an umbrella!
Joe, remind me on if you have to cut your poles in half when you were using the original log lift. I'll be dealing with pulp cord length firewood logs. Will be a long way to roll the logs to get them to the processor and don't have a lot of room to maneuver the processor into position to reduce the distance needed to roll the logs. Be nice to have the cash for both a tractor AND a processor. Will be a while, but a firewood processor and tractor is the goal!,
I cut them in half. They just worked better that way. If you have an end heavy log you can get by loading a longer log on the machine but it seems it is worth the time and effort to halve them
Great video Joe!
Thanks!
You know joe I was wondering does this model run a harvester style chain and bar? If it doesn’t I’m a bit surprised. Anyways good video always enjoy them.
It is a standard 15" Oregon bar and chain.
That’s a fantastic processor mate 👍
Thanks for watching Gus!
Thank your showing the processor. I just finished 3 1/2 cords with a maul, sledge, and wedge. I need something better. Not what you have because I'm not in production, just home splitting.
Production at its finest assisted by those high quality A.M. Leonard wheelbarrows and the Hart battery powered chainsaw. I would be interested to see how the Hart performs compared to my old Oregon battery powered chainsaw.
I think that would be interesting to find out too. As for the wheel barrows the AM Leonard is the best in the world! Great tool
Man I need one now
I’d like to know if you’ve ever thought about upgrading to the perfect split
What about bagging and marketing your saw dust?
I'm sure you and your u tube channel have sold a good number of processors. Where the Japa stands out is it makes the best looking splits.
Thought you kept the wood species seperate. And you're using the new dump trailer for yard work. Thought you were going to use the older one for that
Hi David. I stack the oak separate in this load. I have an abundance of other species now so I will put the ash, maple, and beech together. In the case of the trailer sometimes I use what is closest or which one is hitched up.
I'm curious have you ever tried any Elm through your machine?
Nice machine, thanks
You bet!
Back the other trailer up there load the deck and keep on going. Take a break and stack, next thing you know you'll have to call Jesse again. Less talk and more processing! Great video 👍
LOL... Working alone I notice I talk to myself a lot. I call it having a staff meeting.
I like your new video the moming you did a really good jop on your firewood the moming love your video buddy 🔥
Awesome thank you!
Have a good day today too you guys buddy 🔥
Can you tell us the individual components of your setup and what the cost was for each pls? Very nice setup btw. Thank you.
Hi there. Keep in mind prices are prob much different than from when I got these. The 365 pro is around $25k, the 14' conveyor adds about $3k, the live deck is around $11k. You would be better off to go to www.metsamachines.com for updated prices.
Sweet mechine.
Thanks J2
ok maintanence how often do you sharpen--replace the chains blade plus any other items
The chain about 5-6 cords. There are just 3 grease fittings on it. I really haven't done anything to it except for a hose replacement at 30 hrs when it blew out. Been a very reliable machine
Hey Joe. Quick question...what do you guys do with all that sawdust?
I dump it on my timber road to smooth it down. Also I put it on the ground to set my pallets on top. Keeps the grass from growing up thru the wood.
Good morning from Grand Forks
Hi Dean!
Hey would like to see the 409 in action
That is an awesome machine! What do you do with all the sawdust?
Could sell that to a local smoking business.
I use them to smooth the timber road for now
It's a great machine!!
Nice job!
Thanks! Curious if you could tell me where you are from?
How often do you have to sharpen the 4 way and 6 way even the 8 way wedges Joe?
I have never sharpened any of them. I'm not sure when they would require sharpening.
Any way to add value to the wood chips from the saw if you could capture, package and sell as livestock bedding, liquid absorbent or anything other than wasted wood. Farmers say with pigs the only thing that isn’t used is the oink 🐷
I think that will happen eventually but for now I am dumping them on the timber road to smooth it out.
What is your max diameter with the 365 pro. What is the 385 Pro limitations?
Hi Geary. The max on the 365 is 14". I am not familiar with the 385... the 405 that was at the Paul Bunyan show and appeared on my video from there is a 16" max. Thanks!
How often do you sharpen/change the saw chain?
It lasts for about 5-6 cords. It is standard chain
That is a slick machine. Somewhere between age 74 and 76 the splitting mall and wedges lost their attractiveness.
You made it a lot farther than I did. LOL. I gave it up in my 30's!
What size table is on your super split regular or extra large
Regular. Mine is the J model. IMO that is all you need. I think the HD is overkill and would be much heavier to push around
thanks for the vid
Sure thing!
how long does the chain last in procesor's saw ?
Usually around 5-6 cords. It is standard chain.
What wood is the Machine cutting,
There were maple, oak, cherry, beech, and ash logs.
Mr. Action joe
I need good seasoned oak for cooking in the Augusta Ga area. Anyone know? I’ve tried market place etc…..
I'm sorry I don't. There is a company from Atlanta called the Cutting Edge. They have a nice web site to check out. Good luck Kyle
How many cords a year do you do?
I shoot for 200 but have yet to make it. I am around 175 this year
@@ohiowoodburner another 25 cord ......gravy......you got this
Mechanism is. Progress
Indeed it is Mario!
Unless life events stop happening, I'll have to get a processor soon to keep up.
Hope you can get into one!
@@ohiowoodburner, will be a while before can afford a Japa 405 with the perfect split and clean options, plus the tractor to keep the log deck fed. But that's the goal!
👍👍
Thanks!
You are from Trumbull county ?!? LOL
The blades on your 6 blade are not equal to give hexadecimal splits.
Hej Joe, when is the shipping container size kiln going to be the new equipment member? Check out "oak farm firewood" channel from UK,,, worth a look
I had thought of those but I think that is a few years down the road.
Easy money with a Processor
I still need a better supply of logs. That is what's holding me back right now
I would put Buckin' Billy Ray up against that Japa any day of the week. LOL JK
LOL. It would be pretty close I would bet
Have you ever thought of kiln drying your wood, i saw this guy, ruclips.net/video/_PhuMFK0MJU/видео.html and thought it could be useful to you.
Cubicles SUCK!
