I totally disagree. The screaming vocals are what makes this song unique and it conveys a very powerful message of the current state of the European community. ESC is drenched in songs conveying peace and love while we all Europeans are witnessing a decay of the European Union i.e Brexit, ressurging nationalism, pending economic crisis with Deusche Bank, Italian banks etc. Ordinary people are getting fed up with the Breussel establishment where big business is intermingled with the non-elected politicians. And no worries, everyone is like ???? at first, but fans some weeks later, trust me XD
When you understand with time that the "screaming" is melodic and purposely done juxtaposed with the angelic chorus to present both devil and angel in a person plus they are anti establishment, you begin to appreciate the greatness this song has.
this is the best but I think only the awakened get it ... it isn't a song for standard 'judging' using a programmed formula. I was shocked at first too but I'm addicted now - my number one for sure. These guys are authentic and on a mission and I'm behind them all the way
Portugal is a quality act. Nothing ever seen. Iceland is good but nothing original...we've seen this many times in other contexts...But people will vote for this. If it was something fair Portugal would win since is the best proposal this year. By far.

I actually think this is going to do really well in Eurovision. Rock/metal genre is insanely popular in east Europe and sex is universal so... Yeah I can see this doing well haha.
I feel this maybe a Lordi esque year, or a Dima Bilan Year. A year that isnt so strong where the most different song wins for its difference (Lordi and Hatari) or a returnee that should have won the first time around with a weaker song. (Dima and Sergey)
@@thomassturley5183 Oh, ok. I just find his song too forced, too biased to show off, to impress, and to stand out. It doesn't happen naturally. There is more deliberation, intention, and calculation in the song than inspiration, emotion, and message. In my ears, it's fake and unoriginal, and juries will burry it.
About time for aggressive EBM/Digital Hardcore to step in to the Eurovision stage, the genre is about 30 years old already. I can draw parallels with "Minn Hinsti Dans", the Iceland entry of 1997. It is provocative and very in your face, my only criticism will go beyond the image and the song itself. Klemens (the one that sings the chorus) should train his live vocal technique, get some proper vocal coach, because at the moment it doesn't sound consistent and good.
It's interesting that in the battle of the weird you've come down on the side of Portugal. I think Iceland will have broader appeal. Portugal will do well with the juries but I think the televote will be dodgy as hell. Iceland will get a huge televote, and I think a respectable jury score. If people resonate with it, that could be the winner.

Eurovision isn't about 'appeasing.' Hungary wasn't to this level last year in being 'unreachable' to some but it qualified all the same. This takes it to a new level, but that is FAR more likely to qualify than the run of the mill types.
@Alesia Michelle This song is basically what the inside of my head has been like for the past 2+ years, given all of what's been going on in the world. I have little hope for the future now. And “Hatrið mun sigra” is very much what I fear is coming. We should consider it a warning.
Many people think that Portugal and Iceland can annul one another because they are both different and are both in the second half of the first semifinal
Me neither, I am not letting 'Hatred' into my system, so it will not 'prevail'. It's like, now, that we don't have Maruv anymore, people have to love Hatari instead. Maruv's entry was so freaking good, not safe at all, but very clear in its irony. I know they are not comparable (accept for the 'not safe' quality), but I need something more - meaningful - in the artistry ... or how to put it
The message from Hatari should be seen as a warning, that hate will prevail. Referring to the current wave of nationalism and xenophobia in Europe in general, and Israel in particular. Probably the most "meaningful" entry this year.
I already did my review of this song and I STILL don't quite know what to think about this song....hahaha It's just one of those really special entries. I'm not quite sure what spectrum I'm on love vs. hate. My reaction: What the hell did I just watch? :-D :-D
I like the music and the staging... but I will not vote because of the message... and if it is a criticism some groups on Europe who share fascism and national ideology will see the victory of this song as a scream and power up for their ideology... for hate to the emigrants, lgbt community and capitalism for an example...

Last year Iceland was in my bottom three because Ari failed at all parts surrounding the competition. This year, however, Iceland is in my top three because It's everything I want from a Song in this competition: Native Language, Meaningful lyrics, talented Voice(s), a cohesiveness in terms of staging/appearance as well as production-wise, a passion that comes across perfectly and that it's unbelievably risky. This song is everything I wanted but never knew I needed! And I am pretty sure that this song will end somewhere in the TOP5 in the Grand Finale!
I feel Juries are gonna be 50/50 on this i think, some will appreciate its differences depending on their individual musical backgrounds. If there are juries who are looking for vocals then there wont be marking this high.
This is going to get Hungary 2018 points... AT BEST from juries. Televote will HAVE to come out and support the act and given what happened with Triana Park I'm just not super confident.
Honey, this is the absolute winner candidate!!! Triana Park was not in this level!!! Sorry to say this but this is way too good for Eurovision... Good luck from Turkey, annndddd Hatrid mun Sigra... 🇹🇷🇮🇸
I had the same reaction the first time if listened to it. To my mind, Line was a bit more forgettable. Iceland will stand out for sure ! It is more comparable with Montenegro 2013. Love you Iceland ! 😍
Here is the semi-final version of their performance ruclips.net/video/FmruTSEadu0/видео.html Do you find the screamy vocals more tolerable there? I think he sounded quite hoarse in the final version. And here is a nice cover of their song that won't hurt your ears ruclips.net/video/KlmQ4KerB0I/видео.html The lyrics are meant to be a warning about what is happening in Europe. It's a dark song but they are not actually promoting hate, of course. This is my #1 song of the year and I don't see that changing.
In a group of 40+ songs, this is one that you are going to remember.

This is last in the semi, or top 5, or anywhere in between, but whatever it is, Iceland needed to do this this year. Shake up the ranks and controvert.
And no worries, everyone is like ???? at first, but fans some weeks later, trust me XD
I love this so much. The song itself is not much, but the whole performance is just so captivating!
When you understand with time that the "screaming" is melodic and purposely done juxtaposed with the angelic chorus to present both devil and angel in a person plus they are anti establishment, you begin to appreciate the greatness this song has.
C'mon Alesia, give this a chance! Eurovision needs this! 😆
How am I not giving it a chance? Did you watch? OR did you just watch 1 min and comment?
@@AlesiaMichelle I always watch your videos and I will continue to do so
It´s a tradition to return here after a while...hilarious reaction, was funny back then, still funny right now.
😘🇮🇸 iceland will prevail . . . straight to nr. 1
spacetoob yep your so right!
@@emiliabrightb94 I hope they do well. Live performances have been awesome! Video too!
The screaming is the best part. Especially when you look up the lyrics.
It's awesome to sing along at home, releases all stress!
this is the best but I think only the awakened get it ... it isn't a song for standard 'judging' using a programmed formula. I was shocked at first too but I'm addicted now - my number one for sure. These guys are authentic and on a mission and I'm behind them all the way
Well Iceland and Portugal are the best entries of this year for sure!!
Portugal is a quality act. Nothing ever seen.
Iceland is good but nothing original...we've seen this many times in other contexts...But people will vote for this. If it was something fair Portugal would win since is the best proposal this year. By far.
@@eddiemurphy21 "Nothing original... We've seen this many times in other contexts." No? Tell me where you've seen a song anything like Hatrið mun sigra in Eurovision before. And don't say Hard Rock Hallelujah because the message Hatari is portraying is absolutely nowhere in that song (not to mention it's metal, and this is industrial punk). Name me at least one instance of an entry where we saw anything like Hatrið mun sigra.
@@Alfred-F-Jones hard rock hallelluhaj. What you are asking me is this: " name me one thing that is going to happen if you die but don't tell me you are gonna stop living". You see? That is a fast food song, seen before in eurovision. Forget eurovision. These songs were seen before in many contexts. Rock, a mix between Marylin Manson and Lordi, eletronics, and that's it. I even like the sound of it, I would listen to it on the radio, but that's it. The point is: I've never knew about anything like Portugal's entry in any kind of context. Not in Eurovision, not anywhere else... so, I ask you now: name me a song like that in any context!?
It's 100 per cent original, something never seen before and if eurovision was a fair thing, Portugal would win by far since it's the most original and the quality act of the show. There's not even a proposal comparable!...
This is the winner.
You're forgetting, it's 2019. Remember Iceland in '99 and '09?
Ok... 2nd place. As long as it doesn't win lol. BUT! Honestly, I'd LOVE to go to Iceland for Eurovision... Except for the fact that I'd prefer a warmer place lol.
@@AlesiaMichelle Alesia, but we should remember Iceland is quite expensive, especially if we talk Eurovision (a whole week experience), it's more expensive than Sweden.
@@AlesiaMichelle They're getting a huge buzz though. People like the song, myself included, but it also is waking up the closet freaks who won't admit they like it but will vote for it.
Hated it the first time I heard it. It’s such a grower. After 2 or 3 times it’s so unique.
I think if people truly allow the darkness of this song to come through them, they'll feel alive.. I understand it's too much but the second I managed to do that, I embraced Hatari like never before and I definitely hope they win the whole thing!
Interesting take...
@@AlesiaMichelle From one American Eurofan to the next! ✌
Sergey will definitely not win.
@@konstantinospapaioannou2588 well considering his song an this comment being made before we got it. It was just hypothesizing.
Great song. Iceland would be a favorite winner this year. Don´t try to add politics. This is a true art and great performance!
I disagree.
@@AlesiaMichelle Obviously, that's why I posted in the first place. I just figured it could be a discussion?
I can never vote for a music which refers that the hate must prevail and Europe will crumble. And the "a web of lies will arise from the ashes united as one". It seems they are calling fascism and the nationalists to spread hate... For God sake!!! Is everyone crazy??? Even if it is a criticism and open eyes for Europe, I'm afraid that the people who like/ share/ spread this kind of ideology will see as power up... as calling for them to show their power... 😮😮😮😮😮
If you don't get that vocal, go watch Finland 2006 entry. Lol and see what happened
Hatrið mun sigra.. all the way
Many people think that Portugal and Iceland can annul one another because they are both different and are both in the second half of the first semifinal
But. but. but. but.... Conan's song is palatable. Iceland is divisive AT BEST... worst: offensive; best: unique
This will definitely qualify.
It is surely the winner!!!!
Me neither, I am not letting 'Hatred' into my system, so it will not 'prevail'. It's like, now, that we don't have Maruv anymore, people have to love Hatari instead. Maruv's entry was so freaking good, not safe at all, but very clear in its irony. I know they are not comparable (accept for the 'not safe' quality), but I need something more - meaningful - in the artistry ... or how to put it
What about Portugal??
@@aidarafsantos They are quite the opposite of what are you describing! I think you should recheck what they want to depict. Hope you will get them
@@aidarafsantos Sorry, but I can't believe that you listened to the same song I did!
Appreciate your honesty. I felt the same way. Including scared.
Haha, I love this reaction. Its just you being confused for 8 min :).
hya Gorgeous!! Good seeing you back in another eurovision round 2019!! This entry will dust of some things or maybe burry............................?? Love ur conflicted reaction!!
I absolutely LOVE the whole thing 😍😍😍
I don’t see what they are wearing. I just like this music, this song.Words make you think.Song metaphor.A high angelic voice appeals to the people : tears shine when I look at you, man.Once I gave everything for you, I gave everything to you.In the world of consumption, a person is tied to his whims and desires. Therefore, BDSM costumes. Therefore, Europe will collapse if it does not just stop consuming. There is also concern for the ecology and the human soul in this song....sorry for my bad english((((
Iceland is so good
Last year Iceland was in my bottom three because Ari failed at all parts surrounding the competition.
Meaningful lyrics?? Do you agree with the message??
I am like wowed. I learned your intro. wowowoowowow are you ready for the show😂😂 Go reprisent USA in ESC
You are entitled to your opinion of course, but there is musicality in his voice for sure, just maybe different from what you normally listen to :)
This was literally my FIRST reaction... peep the current content ;-)
I think that the jury will not vote for the vocals but for the message... this kind of music is very dangerous in our time and in Europe... 😔😔😔😔
I TOUGHT IT IS THE WINNER FROM THE FIRST SECOND AND AS SHOW GO ON I LIKE IT MORE AND MORE ;D
My absolut fav!
Eurovision purists are going insane and I love it
me: loving the studio version it gives me chills, can't get into their live setting and performance AT ALL.
This will be top 5. Lordi won why cant Hatari??
I disagree with 2:16, there is a lot more musicality to Matthias vocals than Klemens
Iceland ia KILLIN IT this year!🔥🇮🇸
Honey, this is the absolute winner candidate!!! Triana Park was not in this level!!! Sorry to say this but this is way too good for Eurovision... Good luck from Turkey, annndddd Hatrid mun Sigra... 🇹🇷🇮🇸
Your reaction at the end of the song is priceless. :)
Love this song
'' there is no musicality in this vocal ''' funny, what does she say when she hears black rappers rapping
Hatrið mun sigra !!! :D
I had the same reaction the first time if listened to it.
To my mind, Line was a bit more forgettable. Iceland will stand out for sure ! It is more comparable with Montenegro 2013.
Love you Iceland ! 😍
... "Line" was the last in the semi. #jussayin
This vocal is scream and i love this song my winner 😍😍😍
yes x
Here is the semi-final version of their performance ruclips.net/video/FmruTSEadu0/видео.html Do you find the screamy vocals more tolerable there? I think he sounded quite hoarse in the final version.
And here is a nice cover of their song that won't hurt your ears ruclips.net/video/KlmQ4KerB0I/видео.html
The lyrics are meant to be a warning about what is happening in Europe. It's a dark song but they are not actually promoting hate, of course.
This is my #1 song of the year and I don't see that changing.
Screamy vocal is the MOOD. It makes this song stand out.
I live in Iceland and some peple are going to move from Iceland cuz of this song
