"there's no musicality to those vocals" learning how to do that technique correctly takes years of practice and doing it wrong is going to fuck up your voice so badly you might need surgery and even then it's not guaranteed your voice is ever going to recover. Just because someone might not like something doesn't mean it isn't good or doesn't require talent and dedication.

I totally disagree. The screaming vocals are what makes this song unique and it conveys a very powerful message of the current state of the European community.
ESC is drenched in songs conveying peace and love while we all Europeans are witnessing a decay of the European Union i.e Brexit, ressurging nationalism, pending economic crisis with Deusche Bank, Italian banks etc. Ordinary people are getting fed up with the Breussel establishment where big business is intermingled with the non-elected politicians. The legitimacy for the European Union is decreasing each day passing according to major polls.
In times where we have more crisis to come; impending climate crisis with millions of new climate refugees, rise of AI, automation of labour intensive work demands more fair cooperation between countries, not less.
This song is more important than most think. Unless we reinvent European democracy now, *hatred will prevail, Europe will crumble*.

This is absolutely the best song this year not cheap pop song like 90% of this year we are really tired of that music style. This is fresh and nice. Their voices are so good live and growling should be more respectful from these people as normally everyone can sing but like this not so much and do it good. I'm not sure about Hatari winning the ESC, but considering the underwhelming semi-final they're in, I think this is going to be a walk in the park for them. And it's got the advantage of knowing how to be "authentically Icelandic" without playing to ethnic clichés, which is such a tremendous challenge for most Western countries in the show (who just revert to generic Anglo/Swedish/Schlager pop if everything else fails, and I _am_ looking at you, Norway). I mean, if you follow some of the Icelandic greats like Skálmöld, Sólstafir or Sigur Rós (oh my gosh, so much Jónsi Birgisson in the chorus), you could immediately guess where Hatari come from just from listening to them. So yeah, more power to them.
Just stop comparing this to Conan Osíris, y'all. They're two entirely different concepts, each one great in its own way.

There is more deliberation, intention, and calculation in the song than inspiration, emotion, and message. In my ears, it's fake and unoriginal, and juries will burry it.

About time for aggressive EBM/Digital Hardcore to step in to the Eurovision stage, the genre is about 30 years old already.
I can draw parallels with "Minn Hinsti Dans", the Iceland entry of 1997. It is provocative and very in your face, my only criticism will go beyond the image and the song itself.
Klemens (the one that sings the chorus) should train his live vocal technique, get some proper vocal coach, because at the moment it doesn't sound consistent and good.

It's interesting that in the battle of the weird you've come down on the side of Portugal. I think Iceland will have broader appeal. Portugal will do well with the juries but I think the televote will be dodgy as hell. Iceland will get a huge televote, and I think a respectable jury score. If people resonate with it, that could be the winner.

I can never vote for a music which refers that the hate must prevail and Europe will crumble. And the "a web of lies will arise from the ashes united as one". It seems they are calling fascism and the nationalists to spread hate... For God sake!!! Is everyone crazy??? Even if it is a criticism and open eyes for Europe, I'm afraid that the people who like/ share/ spread this kind of ideology will see as power up... as calling for them to show their power... 😮😮😮😮😮

Eurovision isn't about 'appeasing.' Hungary wasn't to this level last year in being 'unreachable' to some but it qualified all the same. This takes it to a new level, but that is FAR more likely to qualify than the run of the mill types.

Me neither, I am not letting 'Hatred' into my system, so it will not 'prevail'. It's like, now, that we don't have Maruv anymore, people have to love Hatari instead. Maruv's entry was so freaking good, not safe at all, but very clear in its irony.
