Togakushi was something really special for me during my last trip to japan. We arrived there relatively late and were the last people being there as twilight set in, as we reached the upper shrine we suddenly heard a melody coming from the foot of the mountain, probably from the visitors center. If i had to name a spiritual experience in my life i would say that was it.
Raina's videos always feel like travelling with one's elder sister or best friend. This was so serene and spiritual. Thank you for this wonderful video. ❤️ You guys.
I've watched all your videos since the Sam Evan's time. And personally I really like the new change in video style and story telling. Hope to go back to Japan in the future! Thanks Raina
This is fantastic! Nothing like a beautiful shrine in the mist and rain- absolutely stunning. Great performance from Raina here, love the diaristic approach to this video that allows us to feel the awesomeness of this place through her.
Loved this area. We caught the local bus just outside main railway station. Spent entire day there. Walking around middle and upper shrine as well as 2 lakes. Be sure to try the soba, very popular and there was a bit of a wait.
That looks amazing. Another "go to" place in Japan. I've travelled from Hokkaido to Kagoshima, but there are still a million places in between that must be seen. Thanks x
I thought Kōyasan is the best place in Japan in term of spiritual experiences. But after watched this video, Togakushi definitely offers at least same spiritual experiences. Wish more stories like this from Japan Guide.
Different video than usual but one of the best ever! Well narrated mythology and I can almost feel the fresh air 🌳☺️ as an oversea's tourist, I probably won't be able to hike there, but thanks to this video, I can at least get a feel..
Many thanks for this video !!! This place has always been on my list for a long time, and when i have everything ready to go on this journey, covid came.
Cool red hat, looks good on you Raina! I really like the more emotional story-like approach here, this is somehow hope giving, especially right before 10 years anniversary of 2011年3月11日. Great shots also, Thomas! Very cool own style of filming, seems like. I feel like I'm always turning into this cheesy fanboy as soon as I leave a comment here haha!
Felicidades.
Thank you for uploading such incredible videos! Me and my girlfriend always watch your guys' videos whenever they come out and hope to visit some of the places once covid is over 😊 Out of curiosity, what is the name of the song used in this video? Keep up the good work!
Very Nice video. I saw some picture of the trees. But now i got a good feeling of the complex. I am sure i a going to share this one on my face book page if that's ok?
I visited it in winter, it was a whole different world

This looks like a perfect day in Japan for me. Nature and Shrines.
Watching this makes me miss walking in the rain in Japan. People say I'm crazy, but I really love it.

4:04 These wooden structures never use nails. They just slide the woods into holes made on other woods. Amazing...
It is indeed amazing and impressive!

0:38 I slipped on the snow and passed through that torii gate on my butt. Stood up, bowed, then hurried away in embarrassment.
lol XD

Envy you Raina!
I came here in spring and trudged through snow past the cedars but stopped short from getting to okusha.

Out of curiosity, what is the name of the song used in this video?
Keep up the good work!

that was beautiful! however the link to your page is not working. Im adding it to my list for when we can visit again!
Thank you for the nice comment! And thank you for pointing it out, we just fixed it :)
Hope you'll enjoy your future visit to Togakushi.
The thing is, in my country, everything related with old cultural building or place always scream "spooky" 😅

can one live here as a solitary?
