The fastest prop powered craft is 200mph short. It may be possible, but highly improbable. Maybe with some really responsive turbines, but props or EDF become more inefficient the faster they go, so the juice may not be worth the squeeze.
Add JetCats instead of props. That's some seroous thrust. The tradeoff is that you pay with way harder steering because jet engines are not as easy to control like electric engines and they have to maintain a minimum speed to operate. Which makes landing and starting a challenge.

It did not want to beat it. You'd need to build walls there so that drone cannot cheat. But would the drone maybe be able to beat the car on an actual race around the course?

To be fair the F1 has about 1200 horsepower weighs less than 2000 lb. If the Drone was to scale it averages 5000 horsepower per ton. Flying something that fast through a camera screen is a feat in its own
A manually controlled "homing bullet" though. Even when they chased the F1 car around the track, perfectly smooth ... It was fully manual flight. No tracking, not automation, no AI.
Actually the main reason why drone won is that , air provide less resistance compared to the surfaces ... The force opposing drone(air resistance) and force opposing F1 car(friction) is relatively higher ... So that's why drone had a great start start as well as end 👀
this drone is used to trail and film f1 cars round the track. i saw the challenge. the braking, acceleration and cornering control of it is amazing considering it has no ground traction.
