There's something about Kit Connor's expressions that _really_ gets me, particularly in the way he holds his mouth sometimes. It's almost like a smile and frown at the same time (but not quite a smirk so it's hard to describe if you don't already see it) whilst portraying a range of different feelings with his eyes (joy/worry, sad/hopeful, excited/nervous, etc). The differences are pretty subtle most of the time, but quite noticeable if you really pay attention, and it makes his character feel like a real person experiencing complex emotions...
Btw, all of the actors are fantastic! I just wanted to point that out about Kit, and also that Tobie and Jenny (Isaac and Tori respectively) feel so realistic in their more "understated" performance, if that makes sense

Like this entire cast is strong! It never feels like there's a small part

@@justjordan497 I definitely agree. I'm glad that the more "supporting characters" are put more to the forefront and given their dues this season (if that makes sense). Everyone gets their own storyline and arc, which is beautiful to see. Imogen and Sahar in particular are a great example of that. We didn't delve _super_ deep into their relationship, but we get the jist and understand the complexity of it. Also, Kit Connor is just friggin adorable 😂😂

The hand in charge of dealing with how this show is presenting sensitive topics is the author, writer, and executive producer Alice Oseman. With the assistance of the mental health and lgbtqia+ professionals that they have had on the crew since season one. This episode is VERY close to this part of the graphic novel by Alice published before season one came out. Fans of the books were aware that this storyline was the crux of the show that we were heading towards. However, the show has an even lighter and briefer depictions of what Charlie is suffering so as to minimise triggering its viewers

Oh I love when authors have a big hand in adaptations! Cuz some can go downhill soooo fast!!

I think It makes sense and is actually good that it's "lighter" in the show. It's still dark and gets the point across, but I think it would be too much in live action if it were as intense as in the books... I've experienced disordered eating for most of my life (and have delved into Self-Harm in various ways at times in the past), and while I'm not particularly "triggered" by things that deal with the subject matter, live-action just feels more real (obviously), and I think they did a really good job of balancing that heavy subject, while keeping the "hopeful" tone most of us have come to love from this show. I'm not totally sure if y'all get what I mean, but I already bawled my eyes out enough as it is, and I think it might've been a little too much if it had played out exactly the way it did in animated form... I'd rather have mostly happy tears with moments of sadness than fully depressing tears while watching this show, if that makes any sort of sense... 🤷

@J_Mock92 I totally understand what you're saying and am so sorry for what you have to deal with but glad that you're managing. Even reading volume 4 now I have to take breaks because I cry so much. It's because it's so well done - but yeah, my imagination is enough I don't need to see Joe, Kit and Jenny act it out.

@@ThatsMyUsborneBook thank you! Most of that is behind me. I still have "food issues" as I call them (mostly just a complicated relationship with food. I don't really like when people see me eat still binge then feel guilty sometimes, but haven't purged or have tried to be too restrictive in years and am much better these days), but all the intentional physical Self-Harm is behind me. Don't get me wrong, l still make poor choices sometimes that i subconsciously know are probably a form of Self-Harm (addictions and whatnot), but I've unpacked most of that with therapy and treatment and am doing better on that front as well. I'm at least self-aware enough to recognize that I make poor decisions sometimes (I don't do dr*gs anymore apart from what I'm prescribed, but my alcohol consumption can get a little heavy in times of stress) and I'm a lot more open about these things nowadays, so at least its progress.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it or if you figured it out, but Nick's silence and his expression in the shower when Charlie said "I love you" was most likely him realizing that he brought up a really sensitive topic when Charlie was just trying to tell him that he loved him. Like that "oh" feeling that he kinda ruined that moment for Charlie

Really enjoyed this video. Heartstopper is such a delightful show and your reaction was so thoughtful and joyous.
Episode 4 of this season was definitely the best episode of the whole series. Peak tv.
(I never noticed Imogen’s red panda ears before!)
    1:00:22 it’s definitely codependency, btw

Alice Oseman, others in the production, and at least Kit and Joe consulted with an Eating Disorder nonprofit in the UK, the one where the website is displayed in the show. I don't know if it's perfect, but I think they tried to do the best.
