- I get behind the wheel of McLaren's latest 'LT', the 765 and take it on a 500 mile round trip to Alexander's Prestige in Yorkshire!
From McLaren about the 765LT:
- Next chapter in the McLaren ‘Longtail’ story begins with global unveiling of new 765LT
- 765PS and 800Nm from twin-turbocharged McLaren V8 engine enables 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds; 0-100km/h (62mph) in 2.8 seconds; 0-200km/h (124mph) in 7.2 seconds
- Transmission gearing optimised for throttle response - 15% quicker in-gear acceleration than a 720S and the fastest lap times of any McLaren Super Series model
- Lighter, in the LT tradition: 80kg less than 720S coupé at 1,339kg (DIN weight) and just 1,229kg at lightest dry weight - more than 50kg below its closest competitor in comparable specification
- Class-leading power-to-weight ratio of 622PS-per-tonne at lightest dry weight
- High-performance, lightweight materials throughout with advanced carbon fibre technologies for body components
- Specific weight-saving measures include titanium exhaust system, Formula 1-grade transmission materials, thinner glass and motorsport-style polycarbonate glazing
- New LT aerodynamic package, all in carbon fibre: front splitter, front bumper, front floor, side skirts, rear bumper, rear diffuser and larger ‘Longtail’ active rear wing
- Renowned McLaren Super Series chassis dynamics enhanced, with bespoke LT springs and dampers; increased front track width; lower front ride-height and unique software programme for state-of-the-art, linked-hydraulic Proactive Chassis Control II suspension
- 10-spoke Ultra-Lightweight forged alloy wheels, titanium wheel bolts and bespoke Pirelli P Zero™ Trofeo R circuit-bred tyres as standard
- Carbon-ceramic discs, calipers from the McLaren Senna and Formula 1-inspired, integrated caliper cooling ducts combine for superb brake pedal feel and incredible stopping power
- Quad-exit full-titanium exhaust system delivers a searing ‘LT soundtrack’, as well as a 40% weight-saving over a comparable steel system
- Motorsport-inspired interior design features carbon fibre racing seats, carbon fibre centre tunnel, exposed carbon fibre floor and lightweight Alcantara® throughout
- Optional double-glazed panel integrated within the carbon fibre rear upper structure showcases the McLaren V8 engine
- Air-conditioning and an audio system are deleted as standard to minimise weight, but can be specified at no additional cost
- MSO Clubsport and MSO Clubsport Pro packs group individual optional upgrades

McLaren have come a long way!
The LT cars always had superior quality over the regular model. Almost like they put a little more effort in to build quality.
They all day 665 LT is the sweet spot

Fantastic video Sam, always a pleasure to have you visiting the showroom (and Twiggy of course) and great to see the 765 LT next to our 720S close up. Glad you enjoyed the trip out in the 360 Challenge Stradale, although we've really set the bar high for surprises next time you visit!
I think a lot of us were kinda iffy about the 720S design when it was first unveiled but I gotta say, after a few years this car has really aged like fine wine and this LT is just another step in the right direction
It’s so much nicer in the flesh. I always found it ugly in pics but then when I saw one on the road my opinion totally changed.
Ha Ha that was one hell of a day. The guys at Alexander's seem really cool. Too bad you didn't get to take that Diablo out, I love those damn things.
Fair to say that 765lt is one hell of a machine. Crazy to look at, unparralleled performance, and just amazing. Lucky you Sam, 36 hours with a top notch car. IF only you were given a 360 CS 🙃

I feel like Mclaren is like an ex girlfriend. They keep trying to convince you how much they’ve changed and to give them another chance. 😂😂
But they still have a breakdown every 5 mins and occasionally blow up and explode.
and you only get half the money back when you get rid of them
I took the plunge and haven’t regretted it. Bought a new 570S in 2017 and loved it but suffered the corrosion issue. After switching to a 911 Turbo which I found bland, then onto a new Vantage (mine featured on Jayemm on Cars channel) which was great but didn’t tick the supercar box for me, I decided to look for a 600LT Spider. Best car decision I’ve made. It’s absolutely awesome and easily the best car I’ve driven. Ignore the commenters who slag them off but haven’t experienced ownership. McLaren’s offer so much to an enthusiast.

No, they don't! I know several McLaren owners who say their car never broke down. Brooks of Dragtimes always raced his 720s. And he said he never experienced any issue with it. He just recently sold it.
This is a car that you don't drive every day. When I take mine out it's 20-50 miles at a time. It's just as special as the last time. It's a car that makes you pay attention and focus. You enjoy the moments because of that. The more you put in, the more you are rewarded (providing the roads are clear). I even get up at 5:30 AM on Sundays to drive mine on good roads before they're populated with slower cars. I have a Turbo S for the more daily driving requirements. Also, mine at least is impeccably built and I've had zero issues in over 1k miles and 3 months of ownership.
And yes, it's really that fast. I've done the 1/4 mile in 9.7 seconds at 149.4 on the street with the stock Pirelli P Zeros.
The 765LT is one hell of a car for the roads though, such a monster and enjoyed you driving it.
He turned it into a fucking FERRARI advert did he not ? he had the new beast of the road but could not wait to take a outdated pissa machine out !

I love that we get to see what the UK is like. The scenery, the people, and off course a British POV regarding cars. I also like that less elitist cars are featured. Everybody obviously knows and likes the newest supercars. But a car that’s a few years old? And is not a supercar? Covered here. Great job!

This place looks incredible! I don't like to tell people what to do but I feel I have to mention the seat belt on Andrew in the Ferrari. The lower lap section is over his heart and ribs, it needs to be around his hips to support him without putting too much pressure on his heart and ribs in a collision.
