if you listen to the dvd commentary, Bob says in the scene where they lure the kid over to the bush and slit his throat, that in the script the monk passes by after. The editor changed the order of it, so his throat is slit after the monk already rides by, so it's unnecessary at that point and therefore even funnier!
The rapper was originally supposed to be Flavor Flav, but his manager insisted that Flavor WIN the rap contest, according to the commentary for this episode.
No surprise there reading about how he acted after this Eric Andre show appearance. Dude was legit upset they edited the clip to make it look like he got kicked in the face, as if anyone believed that really happened on a show as absurd as the Andre show.
On the commentary they talk about how the first guy they hired for the Professor Murder role eventually refused to do the part unless he won the rap battle.
I want so badly to hear the rest of Professor Murder's song. It sounds awesome. I've been trying to figure it out for 20 years and it's just impossible, but you can clearly hear they wrote a whole song. I wonder if there's a script or something.
Yo... Yeah.... all the n*** gettin' paid cuz they got lotsa riches... but they neva have enough motha-f*'in bitches... (snitches...) N*** talkin' s***? I shoot 'em in the gut... causin' Hocus Pocus like my man, Kurt Vonnegut... word.
Seems to have a Get a Life feel to the skit, probably in homage to Brian Murray. That has got to be the one of the best transitions into another sketch ever.
Exactly. That exchange of glares was perfectly representative of everything great about this show. The impact this show had on the present ADD brand of comedy will never, EVER be properly thanked. You can't even fault Bob's horrible bald wig - with all of the other glorious aspects of this sketch. You HAVE to be entertained.
The song played during the first two events is absolutely perfect. I missed like two minutes of the sketch because I was laughing to hard at the throat slitting part.
This episode is so awesome. If I ever have a boy I'm going to name him William Van Landingham III in the memory of the fat kid who died of a heart attacked in 2003.
Yes. IIRC in the commentary David said that he agreed to do the show without any explanation and when he showed up he couldn't hide that he was a little bummed that they wanted him to do Duckie. However, he went along with it because he's awesome and he trusted them.
BEST SKETCH EVER..........I've seen this one so many times in the past but forgot about it over the years. Goddammn! I needed a good laugh. Loved it! the whole scenario. Monks Vs The Fat Kids Lol like you know they were while thinking of this stuff up. Hearing the audience react to David Cross slitting a kids throat to win a race. No Boundaries! Oh and one last thing the expression on Bob Odenkirks face change only 0:32 had me in tears!! Bring this show back! Lets start a petition!
I don't get it. Do the monks pay a yearly tuition fee for the monk camp or are their room and board covered by an endowment? There's so many holes in this plot.
The same. I was high off my nogin, flippin channels and I landed on the skit with the 'English' guy infomercial. It truely blew my mind cause I was so high and thought is was real for 5 mins.
It is him. When Jon Cryer found out he was going to playing Ducky, he was a little disappointed but went along with it anyway because the bit was so funny.
You know a comedy show is doing it right when a kid gets his throat slit and you start crying from laughter.
Bob and David ain't no punks
One of their best scenes.
Even Adam Sandler know hurting kids works in comedy
"William Van Landingham?!?!?!"
"The Third, my dear boy."
Pure genius.
And the actor is the tips fedora guy
@@theany9765 holy shit. That's awesome.
Hey, you didn't have laryngitis...
3 generations of Fat Camp alumni. Quite a pedigree.
Also hello from 16 years in the future…things are pretty wild rn tbh
Loving this 16 years later

what if i dont listen to it? what does he say then?
i knew it was coming and was still shocked when it happened. what an amazing show

No, it was supposed to be Busta Rhymes. I know because I was an extra on set.
Causing Hocus Pocus like my man Kurt Vonnegut.
Damn, his science is too tight!
Fun Fact - The fat kid from 0:33 is Jerry Messing, aka the tips fedora guy (not joking)
Good eye, my friend.
Damn his science is too tight...
Who else came here after this week’s CBB ep?
"Okay okay, CUT THE SHIT!"
Bob has the greatest yell of all time.
The Ducky bit is genius (its from the Molly Ringwald movie Pretty in Pink for those who dont get the reference)
And that was Jon Cryer who played Ducky and who was on Two and a Half Men also.
this segment always comes to mind when i think of Mr. Show
"His science is too tight" is such a good phrase.
My kids and I use it all the time. Proud Papa moments…
Odenkirk has written on SNL, the Simpsons for many years, but this was his best show.
Bob didn't work on the simpsons. You're thinking of his brother, Bill.
Bill Cosby is his brother?
On the commentary they talk about how the first guy they hired for the Professor Murder role eventually refused to do the part unless he won the rap battle.
it was flava flav, if i recall
That sounds like a Mr.Show skit in itself.
@@graffinator I also remember them saying it was Flava Flav.
Makes one wonder if that man just wasn't very bright...
@@ja3482 What was your first clue? His alarm clock?
@@ja3482 he ain't wanna be the fool I guess. Eric andre got him back though on his show lol

Are you fronting, that shit was whack
The kids jamming out to that vulgar rap is the funniest thing to me, gets me everytime I need a good laugh.
I just watched every 90s kids movie in 5 minutes and 31 seconds, what the hell just happened to me!!
80s, but, yes.
This is honestly one of my favorite skits ever. The second I see Landingham, I fucking lose my shit.
That kid is spot on.
This whole sketch was awesome, with Bob's character becoming the Dalai lama all the way to the rap battle
And so I found my love of mr show.
a rap, rap, rappy rap rap
Court Tillett a-rap! a-rap! a-rappity rap rap! a-rap! a-rap! A rap cap nap! Get rappin’ with it! Heyyyy! Get rappin’ with it! Hooo!

I guess I'm two years late replying to the comment about the ref sounding familiar, he's Bill Murray's brother, and the M.C on Groundhog's Day.
For the millennials out there: It's Captain K'nuckles from Flapjack.
It's also the boss from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
And the drunk neighbor on the Chris Elliot Show. And the sleazy camp host in Vacation.
And the Flying Dutchman from SpongeBob
Brian Doyle-Murrey
This is the funniest video of all time.
lol, I just noticed the can of lard says "warning" on it.. i miss this show, too funny.
Scott Aukerman and Jon Cryer sent me here
The song played during the first two events is absolutely perfect. I missed like two minutes of the sketch because I was laughing to hard at the throat slitting part.
The big kid is Jerry Messing, also known as Fedora Guy
Such a good show. Love it!
*The third*, my dear boy.
its noah from noahs arcade
definitely one of the best.
The best American sketch comedy show of all time
I love when it cuts the monk pouring gasoline.
@elephas17
yep. Duckie is his character from the movie Pretty in Pink.
@sabutna4evur It is an original song written for the sketch.
This episode is so awesome. If I ever have a boy I'm going to name him William Van Landingham III in the memory of the fat kid who died of a heart attacked in 2003.
There was a pitcher for the Giants with that name.
This sketch cracked me up as a kid.
What an amazing show lol! Why can't there be more like this?
Because white liberals won't allow it anymore.
Was that Jon Cryer driving up in the convertable?
Yes. IIRC in the commentary David said that he agreed to do the show without any explanation and when he showed up he couldn't hide that he was a little bummed that they wanted him to do Duckie. However, he went along with it because he's awesome and he trusted them.
Agreed. The first time I saw it I nearly died hyperventilating from laughing so hard.
god, I love Mr. Show!
One of the funniest skits ever haha
I've never seen a harder pivot. Can't say i was expecting it
The third, my dear boy.
@Nailsinmytummy Brian Doyle Murray, Bill Murray's brother. He's in Caddyshack, Groundhog's Day and lots of other stuff. Funny guy.
4:54 I want the _Monk Academy_ theme as its own MP3
Oh hey! :-) ruclips.net/video/yzAaziB42Ts/видео.html
4:56 Ha :-) Right when the lyrics go “♬ I’m a monkey in a tree! ♬” it cuts to Dr. Baloney :-)
Kickin' mad Hocus-Pocus like my man Kurt Vonnegut...
@Aginor27 Actually that one kid was the mini-mart manager on "Suite Life of Zack and Cody".
This movie was on cable last night. Good movie, for its time...
Not a movie
2:30 Captain K'Nuckles?
Like this sketch when his throat gwts slit and the sheet reveal on the Titanica sketch I completely lose my sh@# laughing so hard every single time!!
Probably my favorite Mr. Show sketch. 😂
rap, rap, rap, tap a tap a tap! brilliant!
'Damn his science is too tight' 😁😁
Hocus Pocus is an excellent book. Professor Pickles knows what he's talking about
Was watching Seinfeld and was trying to remember where I knew the bubble boy's dad from. Then 4:27 popped in my head and I started laughing
my favorite sketch XD
I laughed so hard at the end with the monk when he realized they were going to lose.
"Niggas talking shit Ima shoot 'em in the gut
causin' Hocus Pocus like my man Kurt Vonnegut."
Fan-fucking-tastic.
The rap that prof. murder does had me rollin!
Waiting for Guffman and Christmas vacation too. He's been in so many great movies.

I don't get it. Do the monks pay a yearly tuition fee for the monk camp or are their room and board covered by an endowment? There's so many holes in this plot.
Oh i definitely see where Run Ronnie Run character came from.
Excited for the Netflix Avatar Live Action
