Due to the cost of medical devices I have seen a lot of second-hand medical equipment, typically in smaller and/ or rural hospitals. Within the last decade I have seen critical equipment that is still running Windows XP, and I am sure that these devices are so old that the manufacturers (if they are still in business) will not be updating the firmware to anything more current.
@@zimbabwesteve4620 I concur that most hospitals are running on thin margins, if there is even a profit margin at all, but that is in a large part a self-induced injury due to administrative bloat and excessive leverage by private equity. What about the case with the laser? The software was not updated by the manufacturer, whether negligent or otherwise, for over 2 years. What about the pen testers? Do they need to be certified by the software or hardware company that they’re exploiting?
One problem with working at a hospital is that there are usually 2 groups that take care of hospital hardware - one group handles medical devices and another group handles everything else generally desktop support is never going to touch the medical devices. We had critical sleep systems that could never go down, so they were never backed up or updated.
People need to call the actual person to verify if something is legit. Everything is a scam or fake until you either talk to the real person face to face or on the phone.

Always have a long conversation or simply hang up and block the number
The ones in pets are basically just fancy radio barcodes. A hacker could change the info stored on them but probably not much else. They're powered by the reader so they can't do anything when not being accessed.
I dont understand why, no matter how big the network, why can't you just 'pentest' each new device on the way into the network? Seems to me the only time it could get tricky is if a lot of new and different kinds of things are being added to the network, but still, ease in each new device, both on the way in and once it/they are in. 🤔 What am I missing here? Good show btw 👌 👏 👍
What a great video. Ive been a type 1 diabetic since 7, Im 32 now. For the last 5 years Ive been using a pump and CGM ( Continuous glucose monitoring) a bluetooth sensor you wear on your arm. And when it was said you could hack a pump and cause it to overdose thats freaking scary. But how Im wondering? The pump communicates with the CGM to tell it your sugar via bluetooth and theres an algorithm that calculates if you need slightly more or less insulin. Even if the CGM was hacked to say your blood sugar was say, 300 it might give you a unit or 2 of insulin to compensate for the (hacked) blood sugar, but thats not enough to overdose. NOW I saw this feature come out in the last month where you can remotely give insulin on your pump by pairing it with your phone and my first thought was Nooooo way dude, dont trust that at all. Thats how you get hacked.. Anyway, im trying to think of the vernability of the pump. I know it has the ability to communicate via bluetooth but theres a page on the pump that allows you to turn that on or off.. That feature is used to connect it with your phone to show your CGM data (blood sugar). Also, even if bluetooth is turned off on the pump its still able to connect and work with the CGM (via bluetooth). Bluetooth would have to be the vernability but even if that was comprimised theres no way they could give insulin, given the way bluetooth interacts with the pump, its designed to send information about your blood sugar not operate the large doses of the pump. If the pump was connected to a phone or app that allows you to give insulin (a bolus) then yeah the awnsers right there. But without a way to operate the pump's screens remotely, I dont see a vernability.
if the Bluetooth comms between the two devices aren't secured, could have a device MITM, replay or a good few other attacks out there for the link and play heck with both ends..
Just my opinion but if you are in a position where you could cause discomfort or overdose based on a sensor reading why not confirm the reading the old fashion way by pin pricking?
Hey Jack, your show is awesome! I listen too much probably. I want to say…this is of course just a suggestion. It would be cool to see like animated series..maybe from the stories that you gather. You’re narrating and the animations are super cool with the color theme and everything. If you ever put thought to it, I’d pay to see that
New Madrid Sequence Indeed, tearing of the St. Lawrence Seaway will occur during the New Madrid adjustment. Because the lurch of Mexico to the west actually intensifies the bowing of the North American continent, the Seaway tears open. This is actually various adjustments at weak points along the Seaway rather than the tearing apart into a larger inland bay that occurs during the pole shift itself. Niagara Falls will remain, but some of the inland locks will break. When the upper Mississippi region finds the land to its west slipping down and to the southwest, those parts north which were formerly firmly attached find they can spring northward, as the pressure from the bow had been inclining them to do. This allows the edge of the rip, at Duluth, MN, to tear further inland, with consequent rumpling in S Dakota and minor shifting of ground in all parts in between. The center of the bow being formed by the North American continent, the San Diego area, has an epidemic of water main breaks, and the snapping rock inland from this point has affected a mine in Utah. None of this is officially ascribed to the New Madrid adjustment that is pending, though FEMA gives evidence of their nervous preparations for the disaster they know is pending. Will the New Madrid just suddenly rip with our predicted magnitude 9 quake? Hardly. There will be a progression of quakes in the magnitude 4-5 range all along the New Madrid fault line, which runs up to the Great Lakes and thence along the seaway. The bow will become more stressed, cracking rock inland from San Diego all the way to the Mississippi, and forcing adjustments north and south of this point too, from the Aleutian Islands to the tip of Mexico. Sinkholes and crevasses will proliferate throughout the US in her stretch zones, in a swath that ranges from the New England states south to the tip of Florida and all points west. This is a large bow. Then quakes will increase to the point of being considered magnitude 6-7 along the long New Madrid fault line and its attendant splinters. The New Madrid adjustment will thus not sneak up on you, but will be well announced. Stonehenge attests to this, sustaining a few sharp jolts but avoiding extended jiggling that is often more destructive of heavy structures. However, the Atlantic is anticipated to widen greatly during the coming pole shift, and this will affect England as well as the islands lying to the west of her. During the week of rotation stoppage, lands bordering the Atlantic, due to the stretch that will occur as the Earth continues to pull East, attempting to continue turning and resisting the stoppage, will drop. In England this will results in a permanent drop of 75 feet. England, however, will not go completely under the waves, but in addition to the stretch, wave action during the shift must be taken into account. At first, during the Earth's rotation stoppage, the waters surrounding England may move north toward the pole. Then, during the shift, the waters will dramatically drop as the Atlantic widens. Here is where the danger lies, as within hours there will be a return of the water, with uncontrolled sloshing and the overall drop in sea level will be apparent! Stay on high ground for at least a day. We have stated that England, and the UK in general, can anticipate a permanent drop of 75 feet in elevation due to the pole shift. This combined with the 675 foot drop in elevation due to sea level rise within 2 years after the shift puts any land under 750 feet in today's elevation under water. The islands of the UK are not large, so our advice to seek high ground, at least 100 miles from a coastline and 200 feet above sea level, must be altered for the UK. Seek the high mountains! Given the few miles that must be traveled, during the last weeks you should be camped on high ground. Prorate the height of the tidal waves. If 500-600 feet at the coast, and 200 feet 100 miles inland, then what would 50 miles inland present?
Linus from LTT also fell victim to a very similar scheme. I believe his loss was under $100k, but don't recall exactly. He put out a few videos explaining it all, including the process to try and repair the damage, working with the banks, etc.
I doubt things like this will ALWAYS be a problem. Programs could be made in combination with AI to learn who you speak to regularly online through email and things like that. Then point out to someone when they are receiving an email from someone they dont normally talk to. Maybe it could even point out differences in the email address. Maybe it could also be trained on known phishing attacks from the past and notify the user when an email you are reading looks similar to known phishing attacks and warn you to pay close attention. Maybe automatically notify you when an email is asking for personal or important information and just warn you to double check who you're speaking to. And if it contains a link, again, warn you. Or maybe even automatically scan the link and show a pop up window clearly displaying where the link takes you and warn if it's a suspicious link...theres all kinds of ways. If I were intelligent enough or knowledgeable in coding I would make an app for that and be a freaking baller
Did I hear correctly his/their name was and is "Sands" pen testing? No relation to (...) ???! * *Yeah... to the BIG Sands, of course!! The casino, that has a story of their own here, in this brilliant series... a complete episode... on how THEY got hacked no less!! 😅
Who is so bad at just common sense to call a show a reality show just because it has real people and it's not scripted? Reality shows are by definition (aside from horrible) shows that display a real individual's everyday life, Shark Tank is a business show and the only show that shows people working that ever came close to the level of a reality show's privacy invasion was The Apprentice, and that still was not a reality show. Yeah I get that they might be called that by networks but that's just lazy.
I've always wanted to learn to hack. When I was about 12 I coded my first and actually only website I built that way... I have some experience in website creation. But that's mostly like a third party site builder. I wish I had the link to my first website tho. Or even knew if it was still active... You couldn't really do much on it. Basically just a test to see if I could even get a website active enough to look at a page. So I got a home page online. Then over about a weeks time I added a couple side pages..(contact us... About us... And then a blog type page that a user couldn't comment or react to.) But it was more of a list of my random studies and findings playing around online. It was so frustrating to do at first. And really throughout the whole process. I gotta say tho... I didn't "write any code" I simply got the idea of what I wanted.. and web searched existing codes that were at least very close to what I was after. Hours and hours of searching. And just as long to figure out exactly where to place these codes to get em to do what I was after... As a 12 year old. With absolutely zero coding or anything passed "basic computer skills" I am SUPER proud of myself for that. I never had a teacher for any of it. Always been a do it yourself kinda guy

England
England has traditionally fared well during pole shifts, due to its underlying rock structures.
Great episode, thank you!
Hmmm. Slow it down just a tad and drop it half and octave and it sure sounds like OccupyTheWeb… same vocal patterns.
Thank you 🙂
love the stories. keep them up!!!
The right email in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world :p
My mouth dropped to the floor listening to this
Interesting info and channel.
Cool stuff !
It looks like all of your videos are down off Darknet Diaries. But they are re-added here.
Thanks
Nice work

My God, terrifying.
RIP Barnaby Jack 😢
Hi Jack!
Finally you get a SANs guy on here! I've been to several SANs events, they're all a blast, tons of cool info.
Sounds like a bad time 🎺💀
(it's a joke)
I do adblock on yt but i would turn it off for this channel. Too good contents.
Insane
I don't care to check my email and I warn random people ahead of time if their gig's sending me links I am not the one ;)

I love to watch these videos before I do my black hat stuff on the internet 😆😂
0:12 “Barbara CuhCORan” 😜
good.
facebook its a delivery
Linus from LTT also fell victim to a very similar scheme. I believe his loss was under $100k, but don't recall exactly.
He put out a few videos explaining it all, including the process to try and repair the damage, working with the banks, etc.
Phishing/digital con job, tomato/tomato
Lol that crap show scams people to begin with, shark tank. I call it karma.
Jackary Cider 🍹
Did I hear correctly his/their name was and is "Sands" pen testing? No relation to (...) ???! *
*Yeah... to the BIG Sands, of course!! The casino, that has a story of their own here, in this brilliant series... a complete episode... on how THEY got hacked no less!! 😅
Felt like these hackers were trying to make much out of nothing. Like they wanted to feel important

Re used content, is this channel going to just repeat shit in a hundred different ways
While I love the stories and in depth analysis, I don't like the dramatic talk.
Interesting, the whole dark theme is edgy and cringy af though
I didn't "write any code"
I simply got the idea of what I wanted.. and web searched existing codes that were at least very close to what I was after.
Hours and hours of searching.
And just as long to figure out exactly where to place these codes to get em to do what I was after...
As a 12 year old. With absolutely zero coding or anything passed "basic computer skills"
I am SUPER proud of myself for that.
I never had a teacher for any of it.
Always been a do it yourself kinda guy
