thank you so much - what a wonderful idea! you surely inspire me to try it, maybe as a project at school with our students) Merry Christmas and happy new year - i hope you will continue to share your knowledge and joy with us for many years to come

I did suggest to look at christmas tree needle, bark, roots and trunk few weeks ago! You made a nice video and I'm glad I indirectly help the channel.
I hope this will inspire other viewers to suggest you other stuff to look at.
Then, you build from the initial idea! Merry Christmas to you, your son and all viewers!

True level nerd! Love this video. Interesting method you used to cut the needle, I’ve not seen it done this way before, will have to try this!
This does make me wonder though with the clarification you made that different sized trees are obviously going to have a different number of cells. I wonder, since there are certain micro animals (Like rotifers and tardigrades) that all have the same number of cells per member of the same species. Are there any plants that have this feature once fully grown? I know that as they grow they would need to have differing numbers of cells. But is there a species known that always stops growing at the same number of cells 🤔
Thanks again for another great video. Seasons greetings!

@@MarieChardome I like the idea to use a slide to hold the needle (or other things). It's a poor's' man microtome.

Thank you for showing us the chloroplasts. They are so cool looking. Your slides show great clarity of the needles. It looks like a lot of the cells don't have any chloroplasts at all. Then as you scroll through the sample, some look like they're in every cell. Maybe they are but they don't always show because of the lighting?
I wonder how much smaller animal cells are than plant cells.
I didn't see any microbes in your samples. I wonder if there were any that one can see.

There is almost always some bacteria hidden somewhere. But they are tiny (about 1µm). To see them, you usually need to put your sample into water and wait few days to give them the time to spread and concentrate. But the final result is generally deceptive: too small to be fun to watch. Maybe a tardigrade is hidden on the bark? But it will be easier to search on moss to find them.
Please, don't hesitate to ask your question, somebody from the community or MH will answer you. Have a great 2025!

Did you get the sample pictures shown here from that microscope next to you? If so, link for purchase?

I used a different microscope (Olympus), but here is the review to the iScope: ruclips.net/video/z6oaWWNoiDg/видео.html
