I don't know why this people is getting mad with Hooverphonic and Luka, she's a really good singer and they are still making incredible songs like Realease Me, come on guys leave the past behind.
i disagree. i think shes doing it quite good. of couse there are better singers for some kind of songs, but, i give her the credit she deserves, cause she´s an incredible artist. just sayin
I'm a die hard Hooverphonic fan, from before they where even called that, but this is crap. Saw them @OLT, and these old songs sung by Luca just don't sound like this ruclips.net/video/XLtBVc7tnnM/видео.html . The new album is great, and there, she's spot on!
Not sure why Hooverphonic incorporated this girl. Trying to break into a younger market? A younger ass to look at while playing? An uplifting to an old band? An instagram friendly new look? A debt to her father? In any case, they made the wrong move. Her vocals lack the depth, soul and expression Gieke's and even Noemi's have. Oh well.... They have always walk a thin line between talent and too much image. Guess they finally tripped.
@@Backup_Plan Yes. In any case I stopped listening to their new material (and so did many others). The girl lacks depth, feeling and chops. They new material is just to radio friendly for my taste and a big detour from what makes this band so original. I'm sure they know it isn't working too. Too bad.
@@Backup_Plan My friend! You just brightened my day (it's 3am here in Argentina, south america but who cares?). I'm delighted Geike is back. I can't believe it either. I've read your post and you said clearly. Can't add anything else and I agree completely. Let's just wait for Geike's superb performance of new material. Happy times my friend. I really thank you for taking the time to let me know. What a comeback!!!!! Peace...
@@Backup_Plan the thing is that most of those asking "where is Luka?" and making drama out of it, are Eurovision fans, who 1) only found out about Hooverphonic when they already had Luka, and have difficulty to understand Geike's historic role for the band. 2) are fans of pop music and can't listen to any music that is not pop, but neither can admit it openly because they also try to keep the myth that their beloved contest "is for all the musical genres, hence if a non-pop song didn't do well there, it's fair and just means it was bad" alive (while the myth is not true of course: yes any genre can enter the contest formally, but the songs that are not pop rarely do well, therefore there are not much of them in general and de-facto the contest is a one of pop music.). So, they can't be honest and admit "I dislike Hooverphonic because they are not pop" thus they need to cling on any other possible excuse for their hate, and now it's Luka leaving, so we can witness some totally laughable comments like "Luka was the only thing I liked about Hooverphonic"(really? lol) or "Luka was giving them a young and fresh touch and now it's gone"(but why would they need one in the first place? vintage vibe was one of their trademarks). But their actual reasons are perfectly seen through :)) The truth is that Luka was making Hooverphonic more "poppy" and "trendy", and all this talk about "a good-looking instagram-friendly young girl to attract younger audience" from DepressedCapitalist's first comment is actually making sense now, as these are the only things that can typically interest most of Eurovision fans, they really worked and now that younger audience is pissed :)) To be fair, that fact that Luka seems like she didn't actually wanted to leave Hooverphonic herself, but that was rather Alex's one-side decision to fire her, sure also plays its part here but still, mostly it's what I said above. Yes, she absolutely didn't fit into the band, I said this even since I saw their first photo together, just by their looks. She looked too young, even childlike, and too modern, and had absolutely zero "retro" and "vintage" aesthetics the band always had. Then it also became clear she neither had any charisma and scenic presence while performing live, which just made it clearer that she doesn't reach it up to the expectations. So it was obvious that their departure was just a matter of time and had to happen sooner or later.
@@Backup_Plan when I said "it worked" I meant that they actually managed to attract younger audience, otherwise we wouldn't see all those comments about Luka now. Long-term yet, it has indeed proven not to work, as all that audience she brought, now has turned into haters :)) I hope Alex has learned the lesson. I believe it's not really about how long someone follows the band or whether someone listens to pop music (I do listen to it too but it doesn't makes me ignorant to other genres), but rather about superficiality, those "fans" who come only for the looks and don't care about the music, then disappear overnight just as they came - the exactly type of audience Luka seemed to attract to Hooverphonic. A self-respecting band indeed doesn't need to chase such "fans". Yes I was expecting too that Luka will come to realise what her own needs and wishes are and understand that Hooverphonic is not exactly a place she should be (that's why I didn't expect this to happen that early), but it turned out that (probably because it was her childhood dream to sing in Hooverphonic) she still willed to continue this.... So I can see why it may not sit quite right and natural for some people. Hopefully in several years she will understand that was not what she was meant for. I wasn't personally that unaccepting of her during her time in the band tho, I made myself get really used to their new image and (pls don't crucify me!) even liked their album with her, and Release Me too. But it was mostly like "at least Hooverphonic still exist and didn't retire at all - better than nothing" - and I can actually realise this only now once Geike is back, seeing how all these just stopped mattering anymore.
Respect for Hooverphonic ??
One of Belgiums best bands!
kepp your FOCUS ON BRELL
She did a good job of this track tbh

not her fault. she is incredible. but geike would eat her in a sandwish when it comes to this masterpiece.

Word je zenuwachtig van. Ogen dicht, en ze kan geen moment stilstaan. Bon... Dan is het zo.
Dat zal ze toch niet moeten doen op het Eurovisie.
