Being from the USA and having a different perspective, I think what the video means is….
First, he dreams he is single while everyone else seems happy in relationships. His death in the dream means that he won’t have a fulfilled life if he stays alone.
Second, he dreams that he is in a couple with a woman, but still dies in the dream and is actually smiling as he is bleeding out on the ground, seemingly happy to go. He realizes that being in a relationship that is simply expected of him won’t fulfill his life either.
At the end, he wakes happy with his twin flame. Someone like him. The dreams show him that happiness will not be found in loneliness or with someone society will approve of. He should be with the person that makes him feel happy and fulfilled, no matter the gender. And he should love himself too.
He is talking specifically about someone that he is great friends with and wants to end the friendship because he wants more. He can’t just be friends anymore. He wants to go from friends to an actual romantic relationship. He’s “over pretending so let’s put the end in friends”.
The song and the MV are awesome. To me he is talking about a relationship hidden under friendship. Everyone considers them friends, but they have long been more than that. One soul, two bodies.
