Happy Saturday Everyone! I can't believe a company FINALLY put Home Assistant in a commercial device! 😳 BUY THE LINKNLINK ISG BELOW I will earn commission at no cost to you if you buy through the below link 😊 Discount code: PAULISG GLOBAL: shop.linknlink.com/products/isg-the-next-generation-all-in-one-super-smart-home-gateway
About to order this. But I have one important question first: will this device work with an existing Home Assistant instance? I __don't__ mean copying existing configurations to it -- but rather, can I link my current Home Assistant to the device somehow, so that all those devices will show up on the device, and that devices added to the device will be linked to my Home Assistant? So just replace the devices internal Home Assistant with an existing instance? If so, sold. Looks really cool.
if I already have a Home Assistant yellow, can I just buy this device and sign into my existing Home Assistant account and keep the Home Assistant yellow running as well? Also, does it respond to the word Alexa, thus negating the need for my echo show?
Sorry I'm a bit slow on this stuff, I have aqara sensors and hub, would I still need the hub for this gateway to detect the aqara sensors... They are all recent purchases and matter...? Thanks 👍 great videos.
He's slipping badly. Also missed the opportunity to refer to 'Royal Philips' (that is legitimately the full company name) as 'that company from the nether regions', a perfectly legitimate translation of 'Nederlands' from Dutch into English.

As for the list I think LinknLink have been on the back foot ever since this video was made. They hadn’t anticipated this many orders and have been putting all their resource into stocking and shipping. To my knowledge nothing has changed yet, but to be fair I haven’t been testing it. Since Theo was born I have zero free time
no they want to make everything cloud based because.. that's half their business if not more. then complain that running Alexa servers is not profitable.
@@MitcyDupres it's coming. Who would have guessed selling people's information and their lack of enthusiasm to more subscription services would make a fully cloud based system not profitable
I've ordered it, from kickstarter and I've already 3D printed the wall mount and marked its location. One thing to mention, it also comes with a BT remote with chatGPT functionality, and there will be an android app so you can "walk around with it" I'm hoping mine is in the post in the next week or two.....soooooo excited!
@@easytiger24 or are you referring to the iSG Box? That is pretty much Linknlink's own version of the HA Green, it's the operating system without a screen in a box. The kickstarter has closed so you will need to order from their website.
Is there any mention of when these will ship? I preordered directly from the link. It just says preorder. The kickstarter said March 2024 for delivery of backer rewards. Just wondering what the plan is for direct orders.
Ordered with your link with your discount. For the price could be one of my best gadgets. Hope you do more videos about it so we can take full advantage of it
Couple of questions: 1) How are they working with Tuya locally? Thought it was not possible. 2) Would it be compatible with an external existing version of Home Assistant? Thanks :)
Not having a battery might be intentional and a plus. smarthome dashboards often have a fixed placement and permanent power. that could damage the battery over time. maybe having it as an option would be nice for future models.
Thank you for the suggestion! You're right - batteries are relatively inexpensive. However, we don't include them for international sales purposes. Battery certifications can be costly, and they often create shipping complications. The iSG's micro USB port supports power input, so you can easily use a power bank as a portable battery solution if needed :)
@@LinknLinkSmart Consider allowing the user to BYOD or bring their own device and sell your integration as a licensed product. This would avoid your battery and shipping issues and allow flexibility to the end user.
Great video, as always, Paul. In my house I have a mixture of Philips Heuurrggh, Samsung Smartthings and Govee, all being controlled by Google Home (sorry). How would this device fit in? Would it replace Smartthings? How do we control things from another device, like a phone? Google Home app?
If I buy one and start using Home Assistant, do I have to grow a chinstrap beard and thrust whilst shouting Home Assistant and demeaningly claim that everything can be fixed with a .yaml file? I don't think I can be a Home Assistant user unless it's possible to regain my virginity.
Understandable that LnL would want HA updated in step with their own software, it's all got to play nicely together and that's going to take a bit of checking with each release.
But Paul, this ISG uses Micro USB and USB-A?! USB-C has been available for more than 10 years now and all my chargers, cables, and devices are all USB-C! Why does the ISG use those outdated interfaces?
How long does it take to arrive, and is it common practice for them to send the item in two parts... ive received the Ethernet Adapter / UK but not the LinknLink iSG Display Max - ordered 19th of September.
But what if I already have a Home Assistant setup on a RPi5 and I want to connect this LinknLink to my existing installation, using it basically for its screen, voice control (probably?) and as a Matter/Huya server?
I get what you’re saying, but I update Home Assistant regularly and nothing ever changes. Plenty of things break 😂 but nothing major changes. Now and then something big comes along, but then so will these updates for LinknLink
Really nice idea with an all in one and custom dashboard, got some concerns though can't see in shop where it's sent from, no about us info in shop, chat is not responding and their whatsapp is not valid, how fast are it going to get updates and when it does not sell that much anymore are updates just gonna halt.

Yes we are working on it to allow users to import their devices connected to their own HA system to iSG - no need to do it again. But this won't be available in our first released software and will be available thru an update (in month). For more questions or inquiries, please feel free to contact our support by email or live chat :)
Curious how the local tuya works since I think the HACS local integrations currently available in HA still require developer account to get local key for each device and the official one still relies on cloud. Maybe they have a tuya developer account for isg which allows them to do this?
Ha! Exactly what I was asking myself. Also would like to hear how this works, before ordering it. However, when everything works locally I think you still need an external server to be able to remotely control your devices, so I guess this would mean a paid subscription for Home Assistant servers??
The only concern is with Hangzhou in the company name. If it is truely all local, and I can firewall off connections to China, OK, but I assume that eliminates all the external control options. Still, it does look interesting.
can you replace the storage or add additional storage? HA can be very read/write intensive on storage and wear it out quickly. if you are unable to replace the storage... this might turn into a paper weight after a few years.
Do you know if LinknLink will offer their integration/software as a self install on owner's own table? I think having tablet with battery for portability would make this even better.
Watching this video, an absolute disappointment with myself when I just came to the realization that I literally just bought hubitat s8 pro 2 days ago and if I would’ve waited a week and watched this video I would’ve paid the same amount (or less) for something that’s probably better 🙁
"And the toaster needs to stop looking at me!!" absolutely SENT me. xD This is an amazing device I could see myself recommending to my parents; this is so good! I am really happy with my HA back end. It runs on a super fast Dell mini PC and has been rock solid - so wouldn't want to change that at all or stuff up my zigbee network if say this device hijaked my zigbee network. But I've been after a easy to set up and supported HA touchscreen for ages. I don't want to run two versions of HA (or HA projects) in my house. Not yet 😉 I’m not allowed to say anything more at this point as things are always in flux, but LinknLink have big plans for improving integration with home assistant in more than one way
@@paulhibbert Ok. Thanks for that Paul. Kindly let us know when it's seamless. As you no doubt know anyone who's played around building a HA server (and platform) for some time would really just want to leave their server alone and get a plug and play touchscreen. They don't want (yet another) third party (unsupported) device that works (for a while) then fails with an inevitable firmware upgrade. And they certainly don't want something that would mess with their zigbee network or screw up and complicate what they have spent hrs/months/yrs building already. Hey! I have this. Got it through their Kickstarter, but I couldn't get it working right and gave up. Maybe I'll give it another shot. I thought it would be easier to set up asks just didn't have time to to let with it.
We already considered this :) In the future (probably 3-6 months) we are going to release a client software allowing users to install on any Android table to work as slave devices (require to purchase license)
@@wapphigh5250 I don't use Home Assistant. If I'm going to buy a tablet, I'll choose one with a battery every time. I can install whatever I want on it.
that is very nice! Planning to replace my home assistant current set up with this! I always wanted something that need no subscription and it is user friendly enough for my wife to use it.
For anyone thinking of setting up HA on a dedicated RPi but not wanting to shell out for yet another currently rather expensive Pi I recommend an alternative: An ex-lease Dell Wyse 3040 Thin Client or similar from a popular auction site. The 3040 can be got for as little as 30 bucks in either 8 or 16GB versions (emmc). Install casaOS and add HA as a docker container. This couldn't be simpler as casaOS offers HA as one of it's installable apps. It works great! But by running HA in a container you will lose the Addons menu option. No big deal. CasaOS for x86-64 is a clean install and sits on either Ubuntu or Debian (the installer does everything tho) - so no Windows OS is needed. Similarly priced thin clients from Lenovo and HP are also available in huge numbers - all more than capable of running HA.
Thank you so much for this advice! For a long time I wanted to start on home assistant, but I didn't know how and the raspberry pi is too expensive now. Now, I can get started on home assistant again. Is there one adapter I can buy that will make my computer compatible with everything like matter, zigbee and everything else?
Brilliant video Paul. This looks like a great device for spouse approval which I desperately need. Having many problems with our mix of devices and things not working without internet connection or after power outages. Happy to say I have ordered one and used your code.
This is the first thing I've ever bought based on a RUclipsr's recommendation, so it had better work, otherwise, I'll be sending the boys round... Okay?
Shame we can't add the software to a tablet. I have an Android tablet with HA installed and I'd love to install this on there too. I suppose they're in business to make money though. Even though I'd pay several dorrar dorrar bills for it. Also, no list of things wrong with it and if they're fixed.
here is the problem I MYSELF see with all this "smart home" all in one home assistant things....you STILL have to push a button or trigger a sensor....you cant simply tell something to turn something on....the reason why i got my smartphone with alexa is so i can walk in my house and say alexa turn on ALL the light or turn on upstairs lite....if these systems had a stand alone off the cloud voice command assistant i would b all in
This is a cool idea, it's great this company is coming in and disrupting the industry like it is, this one isn't for me, but could see how it would be great for newbies. Oh what does it remind me of, oh i know, Google Home, yep it's the Google Home Dashboard, which I quite like, being a google fan, haha troll me! :) I'll continue with my old tablet, a little more control. Great video, keep it up.
They should have made it a Linux based HomeAssistant box and display without their own stuff, they’d have still sold a load or maybe it’s easily hackable to do just that but HA would have to be in a container (docker etc).
8:18 Glad it's fixed for you at least. Had no idea what you meant before about the description moving, but now *I'm* stuck in a new test group for this absolute ass desktop layout.
So it's $200 USD. I spent $75 and another $40 on my Amazon Tablet with a mount, and the tablet with a mount has numerous issues (literally, numerous) with Home Assistant, including and not limited to "breaking" every few minutes. I'll be looking into this, as the expense doesn't appear to be that much. What I'd like to know is how the power adapter works? Currently, I mount the tablet on a flush mount, and behind it is a recessed outlet, to which I plug the tablet into so it looks seamless without cables. Does this do the same? Thanks!
Am I the last person with z-wave devices? OHhhh the Z-Wave!!! .... anyone? I suppose since it has gone assistant I can just use my z-wave USB dongle still.
Thanks for a great video! Are you able to test or find out about the following: 1. Can you run more than one of these on the same network? Could you have one in each room of the house? Is there a downside to that? 2. Can you hook up a mouse, keyboard, external monitor, touchscreen monitor, webcam etc to this? 3. Does it have normal Android OS running on it as well? Can you run Android apps on this? Can you install other apks? 4. Why did they decide to save 5 cents and go micro USB? It is 2024. I vowed never to buy a micro-USB device ever again.
Hmmm, APK you say? So it's an android tablet with some decently built app and a zigbee USB dongle. The integration looks great, but I'd really love to dig into that APK.
Homey is expensive, wish u could try it ;) looking for a system with Bluetooth, 433mhz, ir, and all the other “smart home” frequencies that’s easy to configure scenes
Well actually .... Keeping track of software updates is quite important when it comes to IT Security... That being said: if your HA is only available locally, this risk is a lot lower then when you expose it to the internet.
Does this product work with Eufy cameras? I'm looking for a hub I can use to control my ring security system and view my Eufy cameras. From what I've seen, Echo devices are the "best" option outside of using an android tablet, and even both of those options have serious limitations.
It could be an interesting competitor to the latest Homey Pro in the future. As it is for now, Homey Pro 2023 is stil the Hub on my wish-list though untill I see where things are heading. If the hub from Link-Link continues to develop in the right direction (and don’t end up in broken dreams about integrations that will probably never happen like my Hubitat hub is) I might change my mind but we’re not there yet…
Would you happen to know if the Linknlink ISG can connect and work with a standalone Home Assistant (eg the one I already have running at home)? I’m not interested in running an APK version of Home Assistant (updates, as you mentioned, but also some advanced stuff like running containers), but the ISG device looks very interesting.
I must be looking in the wrong area. Each week you mention during your "what's wrong with it" section that you will put the issues in the description and will update if/when they are fixed... I have looked in the description on several occasions (including this video) and have not been able to find this list. Am I missing something?
Thanks for the video. It's an interesting product. Is there a link to a complete list of products/protocols ISG can handle? Like Denon? Samsung? Roku boxes?
I am tin foil hat guy the biggest reason I use HA is because it is open source and having a unknown Chinese company compile the software with no way to apply any fixes my self is a huge NOPE. Maybe someone will combine a x86 board with the tablet screen we so desire and that will get me to buy into something like this for people who do not have the capability or willing to run separate hardware in their smarthome.
Just starting out and have some Tuya and Philips. I was looking at Hubitat from your previous videos. Would this work with Hubitat or is this instead of Hubitat if I wanted to add Z-wave and maybe ZigBee? Thanks
So will you be able to import your current Home Assistant setup? What about if you are using an SSD? Would be nice if you could jet unplug your current SSD into this and go.
I had planned on asking if you split up with your partner. After all, you moved, and there was less of the partner. But Mr Sockie is finally back. Thank goodness.
I dream of a complete nest hub replacement for home assistant, hackable, with audio port for my good speakers, eth port, local voice command and everything I can imagine...
I hardly dare to ask.. does it also work with Ledvance plugs? (including electric monitoring). Almost new in HA, and stucked in sh.. to up over my ears this sounds like, it's too good to be true.. 🥳
i don't understand the HACS part... hacs requires a github account to be used to get a token to access github to fetch hacs' repositories... so, WHOSE is the preinstalled account?
Good idea, I like it and not as pricey as I thought you were going to say, but a bit put off by those massive bezels. I wish my Google Nest hub worked more this way. Does it work with Smartthings too? I wouldn't want to have to set up the hundreds of automations again!
My thermostat is sadly a must have for my boiler. Its got its brain in there for temperature curves and stuff. Luckily the cable has 2 extra wires where i could probably loop the power cable through. The only problem is that is 5v so the drop might result in issues. Wish it was 12v
Silly lil thing, but, you did say you'd put the things you'd like improved into the description/comments with their action status, just a minor nudge ;).

Well that solves the ongoing plan of building one of these myself
Can you run more than one of these, on the same network , at once?. I want multiple control panels throughout my house.
We already considered this :) In the future (probably 3-6 months) we are going to release a client software allowing users to install on any Android table to work as slave devices (require to purchase license)
$200 USD for a tablet that has no battery in it just because somebody installed Home Assistant on it? No thanks.
What alternative HA touchscreen dashboard are you using? thanks
@@wapphigh5250 I don't use Home Assistant. If I'm going to buy a tablet, I'll choose one with a battery every time. I can install whatever I want on it.
@@wapphigh5250The one in his imagination, $200 wouldnt get you a pizza deal for 4
that is very nice! Planning to replace my home assistant current set up with this! I always wanted something that need no subscription and it is user friendly enough for my wife to use it.
Wow. This looks incredible! I’m very tempted right now…
For anyone thinking of setting up HA on a dedicated RPi but not wanting to shell out for yet another currently rather expensive Pi I recommend an alternative:
An ex-lease Dell Wyse 3040 Thin Client or similar from a popular auction site.
Great work as usual Paul. I note that you didn't mention the ISG box that's the same thing with no screen.
Interesting, I was thinking it would be good with the tablet separate so we could choose which tablet and get the battery support.
It's not a Thread border router though... still not quite what it could be!
Brilliant video Paul. This looks like a great device for spouse approval which I desperately need. Having many problems with our mix of devices and things not working without internet connection or after power outages. Happy to say I have ordered one and used your code.
I think we will get AGI and humanoid helper robots before smart home tech becomes easy and reliable enough for the spouses to fully approve.
This is the first thing I've ever bought based on a RUclipsr's recommendation, so it had better work, otherwise, I'll be sending the boys round... Okay?
Beware!....you'll have mr socky to contend with!
Every time I watch one of Paul's videos, a little thought in the back of my mind makes me shudder... Imagine what his Onlyfans is like? Uuuuuugh... ;)
Shudder with joy In guessing 🤔
What about the I SG box?
One Ring 💍 to rule them ALL !!!!
I love this idea. I hope it succeeds in a huge way. Many thanks Paul
Shame we can't add the software to a tablet. I have an Android tablet with HA installed and I'd love to install this on there too. I suppose they're in business to make money though. Even though I'd pay several dorrar dorrar bills for it. Also, no list of things wrong with it and if they're fixed.
You've installed HA server on a tablet? What tablet did your use? What radio's have you got connected to it?
There will be an iSG app for Android very soon 😊 but I thinkmitbwill link through the hub.
I felt that 7 of 9 reference in my soul. Harry Kim: party fail of a lifetime.
🤣 I know right?
here is the problem I MYSELF see with all this "smart home" all in one home assistant things....you STILL have to push a button or trigger a sensor....you cant simply tell something to turn something on....the reason why i got my smartphone with alexa is so i can walk in my house and say alexa turn on ALL the light or turn on upstairs lite....if these systems had a stand alone off the cloud voice command assistant i would b all in
This is a cool idea, it's great this company is coming in and disrupting the industry like it is, this one isn't for me, but could see how it would be great for newbies. Oh what does it remind me of, oh i know, Google Home, yep it's the Google Home Dashboard, which I quite like, being a google fan, haha troll me! :) I'll continue with my old tablet, a little more control. Great video, keep it up.
Shame about the lack of battery. I understand they may want it to stay in situ, but there’s use cases for a roaming controller.
They should have made it a Linux based HomeAssistant box and display without their own stuff, they’d have still sold a load or maybe it’s easily hackable to do just that but HA would have to be in a container (docker etc).
Love to see the return of mr socky
8:18 Glad it's fixed for you at least. Had no idea what you meant before about the description moving, but now *I'm* stuck in a new test group for this absolute ass desktop layout.
Still waiting for a LinkNLink Home Assistant integration that supports the eRemote I bought a few weeks back.
Are you able to test or find out about the following:
Shame it seems there is no built in thread support, it’s a pretty nice bit of kit overall.
Like Denon? Samsung? Roku boxes?
Just checked,
Nope, there is no subscribe button.
Mr. Socky is back! I come here for the cutaway jokes and Mr. Socky sightings. Also, F#$% Off!
Is this a Kickstarter or in full production? Also can you access the HA install on the ISG from your other devices: Android tablet, PCs?
My thermostat is sadly a must have for my boiler. Its got its brain in there for temperature curves and stuff. Luckily the cable has 2 extra wires where i could probably loop the power cable through. The only problem is that is 5v so the drop might result in issues. Wish it was 12v
Silly lil thing, but, you did say you'd put the things you'd like improved into the description/comments with their action status, just a minor nudge ;).
