Just awesome! Unbelievably good. They are only a three piece and sound so huge. Sparse, concise, precise! True art!
The 3-piece arrangements are great - I miss the early days with Hadji’s bits but damn, that FYC outro was potent
@@pchancustom Heck of a setlist. (re)Listening with my headphones this morning....that KEXP crew is sharp as hell
The two singers of this band have created some of my favorite albums of all time separately in their own bands, Sunset Rubdown and Handsome Furs. It's no wonder that they're so incredible when they come together!
Precious musicians and music catalog between those two. Life saving shit.🥰
100%
Great set. Cheryl always brings a smile to my face :')
the dichotomy of that chill drummer just moseying with the beat of 'fine young cannibals' whilst dan wrestles with his guitar like he's fighting for his life with an alligator after 15:41 is great...-=D
These are the best versions of these songs I've ever heard.
Great. How could I miss wolf parade all these years? Now runs non-stop. Love it
It's a Curse is my favourite song from Apologies, super stoked to get a recent live rendition of it!
I hope they continue touring and making music for many many years to come. I'm still yet to see them live, but they are top of my bucket list. Would help if they toured Australia :(
I'm with you, 100%
Wolf Parade and Built to Spill are the greatest bands on Earth!
That’s about the 10th excellent band I have discovered due to KEXP! Thanks guys!!
One of my favorite bands. Love all their records. Hope they keep cranking them out.
Wolf Parade is great and I will be checking out more of their music!
One of the best best best best bands of our generation. Everytime I see them I cry at least once.
Kexp sound team kills it every time! Wolf parade was the last concert I saw before COVID
I think you've just nailed something important. The unsung heroes of KEXP. Common denominating factor = good sound.
My first time hearing this band. Unbelievable!
🤘😈🤘
Thanks to this video I was able to see Dan perform with Arcade Fire in LA. The🎸 🎹 energy he brought was ⚡️
Been one of my top ten bands for as long as I can remember. Love you guys so much!
Ugh, I love them so much
Always a pleasure to see these guys😊❤️
What a treat. plain and simple. 💥
They sound incredible!
God damn. One of the best. Thank you KEXP for bringing this to us.
Wow, that Music Man St Vincent Guitar sounds amazing in his hands!
Thanks, was wondering which guitar he is using. Sounds great!
Wonderful as always. Saw these guys again back in May and they're always on point. I do hope Dante comes back one day but they still sound great.
One of my favorite bands of all time. Just. so. good.
Thank you for this. Thank you Dan, Spencer, and Arlen. You guys are awesome.
This version of GFD is amazing!
Thats for sure
i love these guys
What an amazing set!!! Thanks so much for this! Some of the best live versions WP has made!
Outstanding performance and interview.
Love love love this
What a performance! Love those guys
this is my college years summed up into one sound. no special effects or loops or vocal modifications. just a lil guitar and keys and drums and real voices.
Not that there's anything wrong with loops or vocal distortion, but my nostalgia knows some boundaries.
Wooohooo
Uh-huh
Estas siempre en mi mente!
Amazing as always! Love these guys!
Best band you ever had
Love it!
Thank you needed this 🐺❤
Feels as good listening to them as it did in 2006. Thanks for this 🙏
They're so awesome! When are they going on tour?! Would love to see this live myself!
I live in Charleston, SC and we have a venue called the music farm. Years ago they were set to perform there, but I think because of low ticket sales they ended up in a smaller, more quaint spot- the poor house. I saw them there and although I wish they had more local fans, I'm so glad they played Poor House as it was probably the best concert I have ever seen. Bananas good!
They sold out in LA before their Just Like Heaven Festival 2022. You were so 🍀 to have seen them in an intimate setting. I’ll fly out to 🇨🇦 to see them tour.
Love the guitar payers t-shirt 😁
Absolutely Amazing!!! 😅 Love The Memories They Bring Back!!! I listened to them so loud and it never gets old!!
Walk Five whole Minutes to the Dark edge of Town!! Took a Long hard look at Nothing and Turned back Around!
With Matt Berry on drums.
Goddddamn, they're good!
Many years ago, Apologies completely broke my head open and I've been a massive fan ever since. It's taken this KEXP session to teach me that WP share vocal duties. Typically revelatory I guess.
Dude?
@@losangulos *hangs head in shame
This is a pretty common mistake as I've just learned through my gf. Also if Apologies was the only record you've heard it's understandable. The vocals were mixed differently if I remember correctly.
That's cool, means you might find bew stuff. You should definitely check out both of their other bands. Between them both, they have quite a bit of music.
oh hell yesssssss
Merci .)
Please get fellow subpopian *Built To Spill* back in there!
I second this!
They crushed that
The best.
Ok time to get out all our old Wolf Parade EPs
Jackie Daytona on the drums.
Perfect set choice, perfect sound by kexp, a perfect Cheryl... the band were just alright
Oh Julia!
Spencer's keyboard tones are insanely tasteful in this. Phenomenal guitar work in Grounds for Divorce, too.
also, anyone know what keyboard that is?
Je li to Dan nosi majicu na Josipa Broza Tita? :-)
Da, da sa tompusom, uživa čovek.. 😁
hahah ok, nisam jedini skužio
Looks like Telefunken M80s, instead of the usual Beta 58s/Beta 57s. Did Wolf Parade travel with their own mics, or is this an alternate or new setup for KEXP?
Man-sharing vocal mics kinda died in the pandemic, and now most of us are wondering what we were thinking before. Everybody carries their own. Even baby bands.
@@tr_murf4399 You'll still find that most bands here are using the KEXP studio Shure Beta mics. But I hear ya, I've always thought it to be pretty gross. Especially some artists basically EAT the microphone while they perform.
Wow! What a good band! Which synth is that?
Matt Berry on drums?
Loved the first two records. There's something about the way the other records produced that reduces the dynamics and flattens the diversity in the songwriting.
Funny i never liked Apologies sound, i feel like the way the voices are recorded it muffles their true voice power. Still love the songs
Great music, added to my favourites. Btw, is this Tito on t-shirt?
yep! had to pause to make sure :))
wow what would Apologies sound like re-recorded as a three piece
Holy shit they are still together?
Brian Quinn from impractical jokers joining wolf parade?
4:51 papa dont preach?
what kinda geetar is that?
como se dice extremely my shit?
its like if man man and the smiths had a baby lol
I absolutely love Man Man. I just saw them a couple of weeks ago and it was one of the best and most fun shows I have ever seen. So good! Wolf Parade is awesome, if you like them check out Handsome Furs (with Dan Boeckner from Wolf Parade) and also Divine Fits (with Dan Boeckner from Wolf Parade and Britt Daniel from the band Spoon).
I wish they'd play at better sounding venues in Seattle. The Neptune and Croc (last 2 places they played) have just about the worst sound by venue in the city. At least KEXP caught them while they were here. Great set!
oh yeah i hate when that happens! here in nyc one of the worst venues is terminal 5 yet for some reason streetlight manifesto is only doing one nyc show and its in there. bleh
@@Aleph-Noll - I had pretty good luck when I lived in NYC and never saw a show with bad sound (I also didn't get to see nearly as many shows as I would have liked to in that stretch of time)
@@lineplanevolume yeah for the most part the majority of venues are pretty good! theres only a few notable exception like terminal 5. one of my favorites in the entire city has to be the warsaw and brooklyn steel, super great sound quality and the person in charge of booking talent is fantastic
@@Aleph-Noll Yeah, I miss having access to all of the great venues and other culture.
Its real. I saw The Black Angles shake a venue near off its foundation in Portland a few years ago.
I didn't know Jerry Seinfeld was the lead lead singer of wolf parade
And Nicholas Cage on guitar.
This band is still around?
Nope, this is fake.
@@seants easy there hipster, don’t hurt your self.
Obviously?
@@MrDefdwarf dude you're the one coming off as pretentious here. Have a good day though.
Amazing band. I discovered them in the Rescue me TV show - shine a light song, some many many years ago, I just love it
Where is the @kexp with widowspeak from about 2 weeks ago?
kexp always putting me onto the good stuff
Was lucky to see these guys before the pandemic. I hope they continue this for a while.
One of the best bands to ever do it in Indie in America. Top 5.
Took me straight back to high school
That was quite the run-on question, Cheryl!
Que calidad por días que soplo de aire fresco entre tanta basura!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
