I said the same thing about "Run Away" sounding like an anime or J-drama track. This album is immaculate. I REALLY don't know if I can choose a favorite this time because they are all so good.
Yes, said it before but must recommend 404 FNF and 404 Loading in the concert as they lead into each other and the performance has such a simple but effective stage lighting effect. As someone who does get kinda sick of kpop stage gimmicks I felt his concert was so tastefully done (well, except for the dog) and let the man's work speak for itself. Much like the album it is a journey and setlist and order i felt was damn near flawless. Imo this album was pretty much Taeyong maturing and becoming complete as a soloist. Everything about it has a confidence I didn't quite see in Shalala and I like how he structured TAP so that it does harken back to his earlier release emphasizing that maturity. My personal favorites were 404 Loading, Ape, Ups and Downs, and Moon Tour. But didn't dislike Tap and Run Away and they're very fun live. Was talking to a friend about it immediately after watching the two concerts but before the album came out that he set the bar absurdly high for the future NCT soloists. And I wonder what effect it will have had on them to watch that in person since every member who's ever expressed an intent to go solo was in attendance (minus Doyoung). Ngl as I watched new songs be performed in was lowkey glad Ten debuted before this came out, genuinely feel it would be very hard to measure up to this EP otherwise.
Yes indeed this definitely feels like Taeyong fully realizing his vibes as a soloist and a storyteller through performance. This definitely has set the bar high because Taeyong's range and what he's willing to go for musically has always been so progressive and interesting. I'm sure musically and performance wise that all of the solos we get from the members are gonna be good, but the presence and impact that Taeyong has is hard to top!
@@butterflai_ Oh I love Ruby it's a beautiful song. I thought the stage scenery dog on day 2 was way too much, though. The song stands on its own for me.
Run away is really the dark horse of the album. I haaate modern pop rock with a passion but this one is ticking all the right boxes. Its indeed giving avril lavigne / anime OST ending, but the lyrics and storytelling and progression and unpredictability??? incredible. My ranking is: 1. 404 Loading = Ups and Downs = APE = Run Away (sorry all these songs are too dear to me to rank ANY of them below #1) 5. TAP (tragic I actually love this song too) 6. Moon tour, not really my vibe, its too wholesome/vanilla for me
