thank you for all the comments guys :) I will definetely do more videos on these subjects soon. modal interchange (in depth) is coming up next :) meanwhile i'm doing a series about each mode of the major scale explained in depth. there's lydian and aeolian already up and the other modes are coming as well :)
this is good stuff man. thank you for the great lesson. this is just the kind of content I am looking for. and please don't leave out the theory part. even us hobby guitarists need/want it!
Man i would PAY for a prog oriented guitar theory course by you. Doesnt even need to have any techniques. Just a detailed application of theory and how to use it and why and where to apply what. you're clearly qualified enough for that. Come on man make it happen I'm sure people would love it!
Thank you for giving us such a fresh perspective on prog metal along with easy hacks on how to make a modern sounding chord progression. Im already seeing clarity in my playing
I really need to thank you. I look up to you and kind of see you as my mentor. You always choose the concepts that personally fascinate me and I'm really glad that there is someone who shows how to use them in a stellar way! Thanks a lot man and keep it up!

i was looking forever for a video like this. Thank you! Any chance you could go a bit more in depth on how you applied it to the 7 string? I think I got the gist. you took the notes of those major 7 chords and reconfigured them to use the low B string right?

@@martinius4041 sorry I run out of spanish haha. guitar is rgaix7fm, stock pickups, in this video I think it was the helix native plugin for the amp tone. hope I understood the questions correctly.
I'm just starting to get into more theory, and @5:35 when you're talking about tritone sub, I don't quite get it. In F#7 to C#7, the tritone is from A# and E, but from F#7 to Cmaj7 I'm not sure where the common tritone is. How is it that to me, the F#7 to Cmaj7 sounds better than the actual tritone sub, when in this case there is no common tritone to substitute?
you substitute f# with c which is a tritone apart. but really any chord approached chromatically by a semitone up/down works, it's not even really about the tritone.
@@giuseppegilardi Ah maybe I misunderstood, I thought that the whole reason tritone subs work is because the original chord and the chord you are subbing with both share a common tritone within themselves which can both resolve to the same chord.

Excellent, grazie!
I`m struggling to get the clarity from these chords while playing with distortion, and I already don`t have much gain
Finally i can sound like contortionist
First 2 seconds I felt that.
Periphery uses the major 7 to minor 7 a lot but it never sounds rehashed. I think the song It's Only Smiles uses it.

I've always used drop A on the 7 string, so I just use the regular chord shapes with a lower bass note (bar on the same fret since it's drop A)
