Thanks for the instructions...I wasn’t even thinking trunk lol. Here’s tip for anyone doing this...DONT close the hatch before you put the new battery in. Auto lock and no way to unlock it that I could find wo power...fun
If you do there is a secret mechanism to unlock it hidden behind a tiny oval panel that blends in with the oval pattern on the inside of the car, bottom of the hatch.
If your battery is completely dead, you need to do all of this from that back seat, as there is not manual rear hatch release... Another great GM design
Actually, there is a manual release. All you have to do is climb into the back and pull apart the inner panel and fumble around blindly until you possibly pull on the right thing and it might open. It's just that simple! :D
I don't know how, but my vent tube has been broken for I don't know how long. Makes me wonder how it broke because I haven't touched the battery at all since I bought it.
I have a question. In the 2007 HHR when the yellow car light with lock appears on your dash and now the car will not crank but will turn over , all lights come on but just will not crank could this be a battery issue?
That indicator is for the anti-theft system. You might want to try this first: To turn off the system alarm, do one of the following: • Press the lock button on the remote keyless entry transmitter. The system will then re-arm itself. • Press the unlock button on the remote keyless entry transmitter. This will also disarm the system. • Insert the key in the ignition and turn it on. This will also disarm the system. Cars are so dependant on having a strong battery that that could cause any number of issues. You also might want to try replacing the battery in the remote. If none of that helps, remove the car battery and take it to Auto Zone or one of the other parts stores. They supposedly will test batteries for free. I'm not a mechanic so if none of this helps, you'll need to contact an expert. Good luck.
@@motorcarlamar I was given a backup key because FOB key didnt work. So i dont have the automatic button thing. The key I have was working but last week my cars yellow light came on and now i cant crank it just turn it over. All lights and radio works it just refuses to crank.
Wonder if a group 35 battery will fit in there. It's the same length and width but two inches taller. I'm guessing it wouldn't fit, at least not without modifying that trim panel. I just bought an HHR and also just happen to have a pricey AGM group 35 battery laying around. Also, thanks for the view showing how the spare tire and jack are mounted. Kind of hard to figure out if you don't already know. Mine had the tire upside down with everything just thrown inside the rim and it rattles going down the road.
Another Great chevy design...lol. Will this be the same for the 2009 model? The Group number I believe is a T5, correct? Have to do this for my sister that bought this fine car...lol.
That's a very good question. It vents to the outside the hydrogen and sulfur dioxide gases that can be created during the charging cycles. It's very important to have the tube in place.
Most newer cars have the battery in a weird position. The battery in my Cadillac is right under the rear passenger seat, same with my Audi. This location keeps the battery lasting longer as it is not exposed to engine heat and occasional road debri from under the hood.
Look at the Chrysler Sebring sedan I had to help a friend who had one turns out the battery is in the left wheel well to get to it you remove the front left tire and the wheel well plastic pieces! Chrysler at their finest!
This is taken directly from the owner's manual: (it's not quite as easy as it sounds} 1. Remove the trim plug, located on the inside of the lift gate near the center, to expose the access hole in the trim panel. 2. Push the release lever. 3. Reinstall the trim plug. (The trim plug is kind of an elongated oval shape.) I hope this helps.
Wow...this guy sounds like me...😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂hes out of breath just by changing a battery......all we needed to see is him busting out his inhaler...from time to time..lmao😂😂😂😂😂😂gud stuff😎😎😎😎😎😎👍

No kidding!
I don't know how, but my vent tube has been broken for I don't know how long. Makes me wonder how it broke because I haven't touched the battery at all since I bought it.

I bought a brandnew battery 3 days ago $200 gone because it still doing same thing.
What is the vent hose and what is it for? Do i un hook the red cable first?
The vent hose is for venting the sulfuric acid gasses that the battery gives off. No, remove the negative (black) cable first.

Did it fit cuz ima pay for one rn 🤣
How do you get the
thought it had some special battery that you need to go to shop for?
What size tools did you use to unscrew the bolts... Just a girl trying to do it herself
10mm for the battery posts and 13mm for the hold-down clamps. You can do it Melisa. The hardest part was finding a battery.
Thank you
Nice demonstration, this helped me a lot.
Thanks, I'm glad it was helpful.

Whats the cheapest battery for an hhr lt?
Batteries Plus was the only place in my area that had the battery. It cost $125.00.
I got mine at Walmart. I think it was $85+/-.
They are cheaper at Walmart. That is where I bought mine.
What's the battery size
It's a Duracell BCI Group 90 with 600CCA
