Thank you, great research and an important topic and message, I think you're going some great direction here! Crazy to think Finns started recycling right away to some extent when mass produced package become a thing. The top5 most satisfying things for me in Finnish recycling - 5) to give away new clothes you never wore 4) to see the guys empty the containers in front of my house weekly and know that deep down this society is caring 3) to get empty recycling bags in my house when I take a short walk to the containers 2) to throw glass jars and bottles in the container and hear it hit other glass or even shatter 1) to collect all my mail paper for a year and once a year have the pleasure of throwing a whole year of newspapers, magazines, envelopes and such away

That's a lot of glass to recycle in one go! 😳

Paper and cardboard recycling has been since the 60´s or even before that.

As a plus to the recoverable deposit machines which take one item at a time, there are some (regretfully scarce) high capacity units. They cosist of a drum which can hold about 150 drinks cans at a time, and it'll process all of that in 90 seconds. Great for small businesses or really thirsty citizens ;-).

saw your video of listening to finnish music. You should react to a music or more like a hymn named "finlandia" by jean sibelius, it's a hymn that no finnish man can hate. It's tone and purity is a one that has spread love across the world from its beauty. The song is a part of finnish history

Seems that you are becoming more and more as native finn. Recycle is important and was very happy that in early 90s we had lots of recycle bins in my home city. I recycle everything that i can and i have done that since it has been possible. The more material we recycle the better it is for the enviromelt. If Finland is able to manage this kind of thing than any country can. There is only bullshit excuses for not doing it.

And dude, you love smashing glass.. then having just a bit too much fun and almost fucking up.. That is the most relatable thing i've seen on this channel. Too bad i don't have the same joy, our glass recycling is just a bin and it makes HUGE sound, well above 130dB when you throw stuff in it. You have to wear ear protection.
I love the one they have at recycling center, small opening and deep well so noise is not a problem but it is still fun, and that got me thinking: why isn't it made deliberately fun, it would cost nothing but it would make recycling... fun. At the moment i dread recycling glass, it is so unpleasant in this particular apartment complex.

You do not get money directly from recycling. Recycling can be helpful for lower waste management cost as all cost go up anyway even if don't do such thing and then you got carbage on your street that others do not take care for you....
