    A few tips:
    1. In a battleship do not put out a single fire, especially if you have health to spare. All fire damage can be recovered with your heals. What can happen is that you put out a single fire, your damage control is on cooldown and you get set on a double or even triple fire. That hurts!
    2. Avoid torpedo's like the plague, they hurt, they flood ships which ticks damage and slows you down, and most torpedo damage cannot be healed back.
    3. Left click twice (rapidly) to fire all guns.
    4. The "4" key airplane depth charges only hit submarines as they explode deep underwater. Using those on any surface ships is pointless.
    5. When a ship broadsides you (shows you their full side), aim waterline and lead your shot with armor-piercing. Your goal is to hit their citadel and do citadel damage, which is the maximum damage of your AP shells. You can land devastating strikes, and most of citadel damage cannot be healed.
    6. If enemy ships repeatedly bow in to you (you see their front or back), it is better to switch to HE (High explosive) shells. Armor piercing shells may bounce off of heavily armored turrets, or the firing angle can be bad so your shells ricochet off their armor plating.
    7. If you shoot at cruisers, any ship with over 457mm guns can overmatch most armor on cruisers. Meaning, you can fire AP (Armor-Piercing) at almost any angle, and the penetration capabilities of your shells allow them to penetrate their armor and still deal massive damage.
    8. If an aircraft carrier comes at you with airplanes, look either right or left from your ships bow (depending where the planes are coming from) and hit the "O" key. This reinforces the left side or right side sector of your ship, which temporarily increases the AA (Anti-Air) capability of that side of your ship whilst weakening AA on the other side of your ship. If the planes are coming from the left side, then look left and hit the "O" key. The AA guns on the right side do not have an angle on enemy aircraft anyway (in this example), so weakening that sides AA is okay.
    9. Once your AA guns engage enemy aircraft, you will be spotted for all enemies. For battleships, the AA ranges from 5.2km - 6k.m (generally), and planes will spot you between 8k.m - 10k.m anyway. However, if you are playing a destroyer, aircraft spotting will be between 3.5km - 4k.m. Meaning, sometimes its better to turn off your AA and not give away your position. You can do this by hitting the "P" key. Hitting the "P" key also disables secondary guns. Destroyers do not have automatic firing secondary guns so that is okay.
    10. In battleships play at a distance of 15km - 20km as that is best because if you come under heavy enemy fire, you can disengage and go dark (unspotted by enemy ships). Try to angle your ship to at least 45 degrees from the enemies shooting at you, to take less damage, have the shells bounce or over-penetrate your weaker superstructure. Support your cruisers, who are supporting your destroyers. Often, you want to play the side your spawn on, if you spawn middle, you can take your pick on which side you want to go to and join the battle. Do NOT abandon your side of the map until at least the mid-game - end-game, otherwise, all other ships on your side will have to carry the burden of being one ship down as they fight to protect their side and stop any enemy flanking opportunities.
    Good luck!

What's with the low camera angle and mouse wheel zooming? Bind a mouse key for zoom. Using the mouse wheel is awkward.

Why must you NAFO idiots infect every comment section that vaguely has to do with Russia? Has the Russian navy had problems? Certainly. But so has EVERY navy ever, which makes even more sense given that they are the largest nation on earth, and they traditionally focused on land warfare as a result. That being said, if you look deeper, you will find the Russian Navy has quite an interesting history, besides the typical topics. For example, the Russian imperial navy had a great deal of success against the Swedish, German, and Ottoman navies. For example, during WWI, the Russian Gangut class battleships scared the Germans, Ottomans, and Austrians so much that they severely limited their actions in the black sea. (Not to mention that the Crimean War literally started because the Russians crushed the main Ottoman fleet)
During WWII, the Soviets performed admirably despite being boxed in by the Finns and Germans in the Baltic while finding success against the Turkish shipments to Germany in the Black Sea, at least with their submarines. At the same time, the surface fleet supported the withdrawal of forces from the Baltics in 1941 and fought heroically during the sieges of Leningrad and Sevastopol, respectively. They also successfully landed troops on the Kuril Islands and kicked out the Japanese defenders.
As for the modern-day, Russia boasts the largest fleet of modern subs, and they continue to build more while the US is still using older boats which, while high-tech for their time, are starting to show their age, especially in the offensive department. So next time you want to make fun of the Russian Navy for their bad times, remember that their subs are probably sitting off the coast somewhere, ready to bring Armageddon at a moment's notice with missiles our defence systems cannot shoot down.
