I decided to preorder. I'm not a Fitbit user, but I think some health tracking would be cool to have. I've had the Pixel 2 and currently the 5, and I've been waiting that whole time for this watch to become real. I wanted a cleanly designed Android version of the Apple Watch, and I'm in love with how this looks. Hopefully performance will be great as well, but my biggest worry is the battery life
You preordered it because you simply wanted some tech to buy. The battery life is terrible.. Less that 12 hours
@@brokenSnake Flawed statement. He could have bought it because he thought it was going to supplement his phone
@@brokenSnake I see you can tell how everyone thinks. you must be a bright and wealthy person.
@@brokenSnake Because you know this guy's and his intentions/motivations. Go away.
The battery life does get better, and 12 hours soon becomes 24. This is literally my statement before I got the watch, no regrets! I love it.
I decided to wait it out. First Iterations tend to have some problems, that we can not quite grasp in this very moment. IF it really turn out to be what i need and thats a great piece of tech, i will reconsider it by new years, if theres a little dip in the price.
Same, but my P7 Pro will be here tomorrow.
agreed. id rather spend the money on a P7 Pro than the watch at the moment. hopefully that $200 store credit stays until the pixel watch 2 is out. pre 10/12/23 as that is the store credit expiration
@@thundergato84 mine too
Just so you know if you buy the Pixel Watch between October 11 and December 25 (I believe) on Amazon, you get until Janurary 31 to return it for a full refund. This is because of the 2022 holiday season. I just bought my Pixel Watch today.
We've grasped the problems already. We have years of info from other devices
I'll wait for the 2nd version next year. It looks nice though.
Excited for mine, waiting for it to be delivered today 🙌
Same!
@@vidalanguiano93 mines coming tomorrow!! with the phone too!
Same
@@Dryde85 ayy nice
Hi how are you finding it? Thanks
I love the music in the background. Subtle, mellow and mellifluous.
Mine will be here Friday. I'm super excited!!!
I'm loving my new pixel watch!!
4 inch wrist? 🤣
@@matrix1169a yeah about the size you have when excited. Really, why do people feel like that have to bring people down just because they don't agree with them lol.
I didn't know what a beautiful smartwatch looked like until I saw this one. It's so satisfying just to look at
Played for it for a bit at a store yesterday and very tempted to get it. I used a Ticwatch a few years ago and loved it. Seems like Wear OS is finally where it should've been years ago.
My friend got a pixel and they gave her $150 in Google credit that she gave me. I will probably just wait a few weeks to see if there's any issues / sales. Knowing Google, both are very likely.
I use Google mainly including RUclips music and have always used a Fitbit for basic fitness tracking, so for me this is a perfect smart watch. Appreciate others may want other functions or be in a different eco system but I can't wait to get it later today with my P7P 🥳
I can claim it for free because I pre-ordered the 7 pro. Think I might sell it because the battery life is a deal breaker if it's as bad as everyone says it is. No point having a smart watch that you have to turn loads of features off for it to last 24 hours
After a bunch of reviews.....even though I really wanted a pixel watch to go with my pixel phone, I've decided to go with the Samsung Galaxy 5 watch (still deciding whether to go pro or not)
Let us know what you decide
Why did you go for the Galaxy Watch 5 instead of the Pixel Watch? Just Wondering :)
just a word is warning, I have the watch 4 and many of the advanced features are not available if you are using a non-Samsung phone
I'm at the same situation don't know if getting Pixel watch or Galaxy watch 5. Have the $200 discount for both of them at bestbuy. Still deciding
@@sib0rg But we can unlock those features using some fairly simple workarounds which I've done for my OnePlus phone and they are working fine.
Kind of glad I'm getting it for free with the 7 pro. I'm sceptical that the battery will make it worthwhile
I am very happy as I got it free with my Pixel 7 pro so look forward to trying it out. If I can get through a day they will be perfect for me.
How did you get it for free?
@@JEFFREYSOLORIO In the UK there's an offer where you get the watch for free if you pre order the Pixel 7 Pro
@@subhan160 lucky in the US we get nothing lol
That's a bad sign, TBH.
Just for the design, pixel watch > galaxy watch
(And because i don't have a samsung phone so i'll miss some things in the galaxy watch)
For me the smart watch novelty has somewhat worn off. Basic activity tracking is available through my phone and its a relief to leave behind that nightly charging ritual of yet another device and be able to wear a classic timepiece again. Aesthetically its ok....but lacks the gadget appeal of some watches out there.
I ordered the Pixel Watch. I'll order the 2nd gen next year after beta testing this beauty for a year. Time to finally retire my Moto360 gen 1.
same here.. how i felt with the 6 pro this past year.. 7 seems to be on par and the watch will probably be better gen 2
@@jjcollins123456 exactly my thoughts. If my Pixel 5 had a brighter display and upgraded cameras, I probably would still daily it. The 6 Pro was decent but the battery life on it still sucks in comparison lol... But I'm excited to get the 7 Pro and see all the improvements, especially that zoom lens and the brighter display.
It's Gen 1, I look forward to Gen 2. This is just for enthusiasts.
I use a GW4 and it works really well. Though Pixel 7 is what the talk of the town will be.
I am waiting for my watch to ship. My watch experience is currently a Pebble Time Steel that I loved and a Ticwatch Pro that was....Okay. I loved the Pebble for it's simplicity. It showed notifications, had great battery, and the community was great for new watch faces and apps. The Ticwatch was a disappointment. It promised battery life and only a couple months in dropped to a day or two max with a progressively lowering ability to connect to my mobile device. It became laggy and choppy at best. My hopes with the Pixel watch are simple. Snappy OS, consistent battery life, and simple smart functionality.
"You can still install Google Fit" yes but it doesn't work at all, trying to launch it says it's not supported on this device even though it installed
Just got mine! Looks and feels great!
When you phone goes to do not disturb does the watch automatically do the same?
Can someone show the Watch using Google Fit
Mine arrives tomorrow. I'm very excited for it, disappointed in the battery though.
You told me everything I needed to know. 24 hour batter life isnt good enough for a wearable. If anything, might get the Samsung watch 5 pro version for that reason alone.
I never understand this comment that 24 hours isn't good enough. I have an Apple Watch Series 7. Sure, I can go 2-3 days on a charge. But, I don't. I top off my watch every single day when I shower. I mean, I'm not showering with it and a shower is long enough to give it a good charge. How lazy do you have to be to complain about slapping it on a charger? It literally is like 2 seconds.
I don't understand why Google hasn't given this watch real time irregular heart rate monitoring and alerts like Apple watch and Samsung, their watches can prompt you seek further help, or even tell you to take a ECG on the watch which whilst crude can detect onset AFIB.
Good review thanks 👍 I enjoyed watching it, whilst debating in my mind whether to take the punt or wait for future gens 🤣. Also subbed to the channel 😉
I've preordered for now, while the Galaxy watch 5 is a more refined product, I feel it's slightly dishonest to directly compare it against the pixel watch because the former is only fully functional with a Samsung phone while the pixel watch is a "true" Android watch in that it'll work with any recent Android device. So the Pixel watch isn't that good if you have a Samsung phone and don't intend to switch to another brand, but it's one of the better ones of the very few options you have on Android if you aren't a Samsung user.
While there is the bypass for Samsung watches, it's a closed source solution maintained by one guy for each update, so it isn't really the greatest confidence booster.
Think I'll pass on this one for now. I want to see how that dome of glass holds up in the real world, also I want to see if the battery life is as poor as I've heard. I'm not convinced by the 4 year old Exynos chip, or those bezels either, so I'll probably wait for the second iteration
I have those same concerns. Need more real world data.
Gonna wait for the watch for a bit but my P7 Pro will be here tomorrow!
Same, can't wait! Got the offer of a free watch so will need to wait a while for it...
Why are you waiting?
@@sdfjsd You can only claim it from 1st November
I'm planning to get the P7 and will get the PWatch for free in Germany.
@@sdfjsd I want to see the level and severity of any bugs, how people generally like it, and I would like to see it in person. I'm interested but I am not really a wearable user.
i never noticed before this shots how thick it looks. that’s pretty bad. And wow, not even automatic workout tracking. my galaxy watch active 2 had that
Google is not a start-up, it is one of the biggest companies in the world and owner of Fitbit, so trying to justify the shortcomings of this PW by the fact that it is their 1st attempt is nonsense.
There's really no way I'd choose this Pixel Watch over the GW5.
This Pixel Watch is an GW active 1 Gen 2 at $350 + $80 per year in 2022 🤦🏽♂️
The GW4 is easily found around $150 currently.
The only thing I would have liked to see on the GW5 is the rotating crown, the digital rotating bezel is not really optimal.
I bought it and I'm already using it, but I do not receive WhatsApp notifications... Any solution?
Battery life sounds solid. I don't use sleep tracking so I will put on charger before bed
Don't worry nobody will be using it because the watch will be dead.
@@jonnypoundland4118 apple sheep detected
@@epicrgg he is right though
Solid??? They're quoting "up to" 24 hours, I don't call that solid, I call that crap
@@malekqaddarah How is he right? Put the watch on charger while you go take a shower and brush your teeth and you will have more then enough charge for sleep. guess what you can do the same thing in the morning during the morning routine. Of course everybody's life style is different. I will not argue that the battery life is good because truthfully it is not. But, it can easily be worked around no matter what excuse you give your self the watch does not need to be on your wrist 24hrs a day every day
Why do all these RUclipsrs keep saying the bezels aren't noticable? It's a deal breaker for me. I've got a zeblaze Android watch that's THREE YEARS old that has a better screen, a camera so I can video chat, it's a phone with all the health monitor stuff, Google assistant ect and it was barely more than a hundred bucks. I was hoping to get an upgrade but no.
Was that PWM at 2:24? Ok, wow kept watching and sure looks like it. Sensitive to it, that would drive me mad. Bummer, I like the look of it.
The slow motion parts are driving me crazy because it keeps looking like it's lagging
Hey! Adb debugging is on by default! I just saw this on mine, and confirmed with a bunch of users on Reddit.
Disable this, and see if that helps battery life?
tbh a dome glass is kinda scary what if you bang it and hole thing shatters
Years in the making and yet......
How's mic? The connection to Bluetooth and LTE?
The built-in speakers?
Yeah I'm also disappointed these kind of things weren't mentioned.
In the UK if you get the Pixel 7 there was an offer which gave you the Watch with £179 off making it £160. I was sceptical as to what the watch would be like but after seeing some hands on and brief comments most suggested it would be a good partner to the P7 and a very good first effort so at that reduced price it certainly seems a good option. I certainly wouldn't have paid £339 for it, that seems very steep.
still rocking my gear s3 but I'm gonna need a price drop to pick up the pixel watch or a good review going over what I would gain from switch watches with a pixel 6
I don't know why there's always such a big fuss around battery life and an expectation that a smartwatch should be able to last for several days without a charge. - most people have acquaintance of charging their smartphone daily, so why is it always negative/unexpected that a smartwatch also needs daily charging?
- where is the wonder of a real smartwatch with the same features as Wear OS that has set a presedence for many days of use without charging? (No, Garmin and all the proprietary OS watches aren't real smartwatches since features are lacking) I know that Ticwatch used a 2-layered display but the long runtime was only realistic if you chose to show that oldschool Casio-like digital Watch screen.
We must never forget that Google removed all the smart functions that Fitbit watches already had included to promote sales of the Pixel watch. It was to the detriment of those who trusted Fitbit. Google NEVER AGAIN.
Does the Pixel phone Battery Widget shows the battery life of the Pixel Watch? It will be a shame if it didn't.
Do you see any adhesive sticking out around the edges where the glass connected to the bottom part especially around the home button.
I feel relieved I didn't pull the trigger on the watch. Anyone know if the Samsung Galaxy watches can work with Freestyle CGM glucose monitors? The problem I really want to solve is having a wearable that can read the sensor so I don't have to pull out my phone to scan the sensor. But I am not familiar at all with WearOS. Apple watches seem to be compatible with Libre 2 CGMs.
1:42 dude you don't have to have it that tight lol
Am I the only one who's sort of triggered by how inconsistent Google is with their UI? I mean, why not put the exact same battery icon that's used on Google Pixel phones? I know it's a tiny detail, it doesn't really matter, but I just like it better than this clone of all those Chinese skins, and at least the UI would be consistent across their devices 😅 Plus, I rather prefer the app drawer in Samsung's watches and, weirdly enough, I think it's more Google-y than the list on the Pixel Watch as well 🤔
I honestly have no idea what the industry standard for updates is on smart watches, but Google only supporting it for three years seems so short. While the OS does well to hide that bezel it's still quite thick and it bothers me. I feel smart watches still have a way to go before they become a must have item.
I hope they don't become a must have item to be honest.
Is it small, is it, really?
Have you seen a Fitbit Scene or Versa?
Wish I could find a review based on an upgrade from a Fitbit device.
This is sad... I love some of the bands I have seen. The fact that they made them proprietary is a plus for me but them bezels with that screen...
This might sound petty but after seeing that watch in person today I don't even think I'm getting the Pixel 7 pro anymore... If this is the kind of work they're putting out...
I wonder if there will be a pixel watch A series in the future
I thought about that too but since it's compatible with the a series I'm not sure if they will though for that reason
Put the watch on charger while you go take a shower and brush your teeth and you will have more then enough charge for sleep. guess what you can do the same thing in the morning during the morning routine. Of course everyone including me hope for better battery life.
i have one in hand and after putting it on it looks like a polo mint on your wrist needles to say its going straight back look like a toy
Mine has shipped early so hoping I get it early tomorrow!
Is there a setting so I can flip the watch? I'm left handed and wear a watch on my right hand. Without this feature the Pixel watch would be a no go without looking at anything else.
Yes there is. There are settings for which wrist you are wearing the watch on and which side of the watch the crown wheel is on.
Is it possible to wireless charge from a standard QI Charger or does it need to attach to a form of magnetic base? Battery wouldn't be too much of a problem if you can battery share from your phone??
I have read it does not have qi wireless charging. only works with the puck it comes with I think, but no wall charger. so just the magnetic cable.,
*updated* I see on reddit there are people saying it is charging on other devices/qi chargers. so I guess maybe despite googles statements it may work?
what happens to health features after 6 months of Fitbit premium expires ?
You will have to pay the $9.99 monthly fee to keep using it. Google has put all those fitbit activities under a free 6 months trial to lure you to love the features, forget that those are behind a pay wall and ask you to pay once the trial expires.
Glad I didn't bought this watch. Was between a Samsung classic 4 or this. Happy that I bought the samsung one.
Expensive fit bit? $549 in Australia....
This is a $199 watch being sold for $350
Just left Google products to go back to Apple. Google has really done a better job this year. From the new tensor2 chip to the products like the watch. It’s great they’re finally improving their ecosystem. It will challenge apple
Can it be charged on the pixel stand 2?
on the fence as to whether I keep or return my pre-order. unfortunately will probably return. ordered the LTE version, if it can't get 24 hrs including always on, it's not even tenable. no way I am going to recharge during the day - will only do at night just before bed or first thing in the AM. the lack of features I already have in my sense including temp sensor, sleep profiles, etc. could be the straw that breaks the camel's back (watch?). hoping for improved processor for a V2 which should also lower battery demand. and if they make a larger size, it could have a bigger battery too. but if LTE + always on and then I track a walk with GPS and that kills the battery, it just isn't enough and I'll have to have my sense for another year and miss all the other google goodness that I was really looking forward to.
40mm is just too small for most men, it's also disproportionate to the height. The bezel is atrocious for 2022 no matter how well "integrated" it may be. There are simply better Android options, particularly by Samsung as they have WearOS. Until Pixel Watch2, Apple still is king in the smartwatch department.
The watch will fit Woman and children perfectly so that's not a real reason

I will keep my Garmin for at least a year and see after
The proprietary locking mechanism for the watch bands was an asinine idea and further proves how dumb some of the decision making processes are at Google. They could have opened the door to hundreds of different types of watch bands, but they had to of course come out with their own needless locking mechanism. Oh that's going to do is limit customization options and produce additional e-waste in the long run.
We never need To be configured to iphone. Apple doesn't play fair it's time forget trying to be suitable to their platform i am glad Google did that, they don't support our RCS messaging so how can we support a company that is not willing to improve , ( you see even Tesla realized , they neexed to open up their charging network to more car manufacturers then tesla , if not they will be and old Fad , which what Apple is becoming even though its most out selling phone , its only by its users standards now, have the Apple Watch and I hope it stays this way.
Looks too small for me. I don't want to be out wearing that on my wrist lol. I need something a little bigger and chunkier.
The sense of déjà vu from 9:20 to 9:34 is strong here. But I also feel some déjà vu watching the video from 9:20 to 9:34.
At some point I thought I accidentally rewound the video, and then I actually did rewind it to check, it felt so weird.
Edit: I'm also wondering if you misspoke at 10:41, regarding the watch shipping with Android 11. I'm not very familiar with the Wear OS, is Wear OS 3 based on Android and Android 11 at that?
Pretty sure Pixel watch 2 will be a huge improvement health tracking wise then this Gen one model.

At this price what a disappointment. The thickness, janky buttons, issues...etc. I will stick to my Galaxy Watch 4 for now. I was super hyped for this release 😔
Hey, love your videos. However, at 12:52 you say "you can still use Google Fit if you wish". My Pixel Watch arrived yesterday. On installing and opening Google Fit, all I see is the text "Fit is currently not supported on this device; please check for future updates". I was very disappointed to find out that Google isn't supporting their own fitness tracking platform on their own watch. So, maybe it will be available in the future but definitely not now.

Our favourite comment.
I'm just overall really disappointed with the watch. Initial reports seem like the battery life is poor compared to others. The curved display not being Sapphire scares me, and older chip, and bigger bezels. That and needing a fitbit premium sub after 6 months just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I think I'll go for the GW5 instead, disappointing though as I was looking forward to all Pixel on my switch to android.
This watch sucks. Taking it back today and getting my $500 back! Doesn't sit nicely on my wrist, step count is way off, the call speaker quality sucks, battery sucks..i could go on and on...
Does this watch have a browser to watch RUclips like Samsung 4 watch?
Battery life is a day? When I think of what Garmin does. Five days on a single charge, that's mad.
Definitely disappointing and no way I will be replacing my Ticwatch Pro 4G LTE. Pixel have in the main only replicated the same functions with no improvement in battery life. I paid 250gbp for the Ticwatch and this Pixel offering not worth 100 more. Great review as always 👍
They definitely seem to have overpriced this by £70-£100. The only folks that will get value from the Pixel watch will be the ones who get it for free with the Pixel 7 Pro.
If it had a better battery. I'd be down. I don't think there's a good wear os option out there tbh.
Man Google scored big this year pixel 7 pro and watch both are a win this is a Google year since Apple has all the problems on all there hardware launch this year so they dropped the ball in software so many bugs on phone , airpods, watch will get fixed but right now still buggy seems like more bugs keep popping up
